doi 10.5267/j.dsl.2025.10.001 Crossmark

Keywords: Leadership, Collaboration, Social capital, Organizational performance, Tourism

Abstract:
The COVID-19 phenomenon led to an increase in the digitalization of the tourism sector, reducing the demand for services and affecting business performance. There is no doubt that leadership plays a fundamental role in the management of organizations. Therefore, it is necessary to delve deeper into the study of the collaborative style to build social capital and measure the impact it can generate on the performance of tourism companies. The influence of collaborative leadership, in its dimensions of resources and work environment, as well as the mobilization of interest groups, on financial and non-financial performance was analyzed, in addition to the mediation of social capital in this relationship. It was carried out under a quantitative approach, not experimenting in the design, taking the data only once, the sample was made up of 782 representatives of Peruvian tourism companies, using self-administered questionnaires and SEM for the analysis. The results indicate that resources and the work environment positively impact financial performance, but not social capital. Furthermore, stakeholder management influences both non-financial performance and social capital. Likewise, it is confirmed that social capital positively affects both dimensions of organizational performance. A partial mediation of social capital was found, as stakeholder management was associated with non-financial performance, with no mediation in the relationship between resources and work environment on financial performance. These findings highlight the need to strengthen collaborative leadership to improve the performance levels of companies that provide tourism services.

Keywords: Leadership, Mindfulness, Corporate Social Responsibility, Qualitative Study

Abstract:
The previous research relating to CSR and mindfulness leadership, for the purposes of this study, provides an intersection where both backgrounds come together to invite an opportunity for collaboration. The most critical factor in the implementation of CSR is the development of leaders for a sustainable global society as mindfulness should be relevant to the achievement of organizational and leadership objectives. It is here that we find the inspiration for the current study and the relevance of the research query endeavoring to discover if the framework of mindfulness leadership could prove an effective driver for CSR? For this reason, 20 in-depth interviews were conducted from the middle level managers working in an emerging economy - Pakistan. The conceptual framework of leadership theory guided this study’s investigation as it brought to the forefront certain challenges facing organizational leaders endeavoring to facilitate CSR objectives; and explored if the application of mindfulness leadership could prove an effective leadership framework for successful CSR engagement. This supporting data coupled with the study’s interview of executive leaders, across industry lines, familiar with CSR initiatives, lent to certain analytical insight that identified mindfulness leadership as a framework for organizations to facilitate the accomplishment of CSR objectives.

Abstract:
Little research has been devoted to focus on women’s leadership styles in particular especially in Kuwait. The aim of this study is therefore twofold: (i) to identify the different leadership styles of women in the public sector in Kuwait, and (ii) to examine if the identified leadership styles of wom-en vary in terms of the demographic characteristics of their subordinates. A quantitative study (questionnaire with 263 employees) is conducted in order to achieve the study objectives. The re-sults of the study show that women in public sector in Kuwait frequently displayed various leader-ship styles as perceived by their followers such as inspirational motivation, idealized influence (at-tribute) styles. Some other styles were displayed fairly often such as management by exception (ac-tive), idealized influence (behavior). Moreover, the dominated leadership styles that displayed fre-quently by women was the transformational style. The study found that the transformational leader-ship style of women varied in terms of the educational level and job title of their followers. Several recommendations were suggested based on these findings that may improve the effectiveness of women leadership in the public sector.
