The field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been growing very exponentially over the past decade. There are continuous opposing views of the role of the firms in society and disagree-ments as to whether wealth maximization should be the sole goal of any corporations out there. With Insurance companies facing and fulfilling in the intense demand of diverse stakeholders, this study explores the impact of CSR disclosures on Financial Performance among the listed domestic-owned companies in Malaysian insurance sector. Although CSR is a hot topic in Malaysia and throughout various industries, no detailed study has been conducted to ascertain whether Malaysian insurance companies derive any benefits therefrom. The study examines the impact of CSR on financial performance using an extensive content analysis method on annual reports from 13 domestic-owned Malaysian insurance companies over the past 9 years (2008-2017). The content analysis data is further transformed into GRI CSR Disclosure Index table before matching the findings against the Financial Performance indicators (return on assets (ROA), return on equities (ROE) and earnings per share (EPS)). The relationship between CSR and ROA, ROE and EPS is tested using correlation analysis. The results indicate significant relationship between CSR disclosure and Financial Performance; designates CSR has significant impact on ROA; whereas relationship between CSR and ROE & EPS is found to be insignificant. The study suggests and indicates that insurance companies in Malaysia ought to carry out efforts continually in a bigger scale so that their CSR activities are more aligned with the reporting regulatory standards as well as to bring a positive impact in the current prospect. In addition, the remedial action proposed by Bursa Malaysia from year 2016 is expected to improve the findings of this study and bring a tremendous improvement to the exiting regulatory guidelines.

This study examines the predictive factors of job performance involving work stress, social support and emotional intelligence. Using two stage cluster random sampling, data were collected from 424 police in Selangor, who responded to Police Stress Questionnaire (PSQ), Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), Emotional Intelligence Self-Description Inventory (EISDI) and Formal Performance Appraisals. The findings show that work stress, social support and emotional intelligence were significantly correlated with police job performance. In addition, regression analysis reveals that emotional intelligence was the most significant predictor of job performance. Implication of this study indicates the important of emotional intelligence in enhancing job performance among police per-sonnel in Selangor. The paper concludes by highlighting future research directions which can offer a more comprehensive study in predicting job performance particularly in the context of Malaysia.

This study examines the role of social support in the relationship between work family conflict (work to family; WFC & family to work; FWC) and family satisfaction for private sector employees. Using simple random sampling, data were collected from 260 employees from eight private companies in Terengganu, who responded to the Job Content Questionnaire, Work Family Conflict Scale and Family Satisfaction Scale. Results indicate that both WFC and FWC had significant relationships with family satisfaction. The results of the regression analysis confirmed that FWC was a significant predictor of employees’ family satisfaction. However, social support did not buffer the relationship between work family conflict and family satisfaction. Implication of this study indicates that the organizations need to emphasize the effective strategies of development and implementation for work family balance in improving family satisfaction among employees. The suggestions for future research are also addressed, especially in the Malaysian context.

This study evaluates the interactions among personal values, ability and service quality of all branches of two commercial banks (CIMB and Maybank) operating in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (N = 117 branches), which are the greatest financial services group with the highest ranking based on asset range and financial statistics. The results indicate a difference in Malaysian values context and priority compared with the previous studies performed in developed countries. Structural Equation Model (SEM) is applied to analyze the mediating role of ability among personal values and service quality. The results show a strong and positive effect of three dimensions of values, including self-enhancement, openness to change and conservation on service quality in direct and indirect effect. Also, research findings mention the employees’ ability as a behavior outcome plays a mediator role in the relationship between these three constructs of personal values and bank service quality. Implications of research findings are discussed, together with limitations and suggestions for future studies.

Information System (IS) is a strife to exploit Business Intelligence (BI) in an organization. In the Malaysian Halal Food Manufacturing, a league of Information Technology (IT) professional and decision makers is the architect of the perspective in IT. There are numerous research studies on utilizing and investigating strategic effects of environmental factors augmentation on the organizations, but compact information is acknowledged prevailing how the subjective conception for the strategic source of deci-sions is transformed into the objective principle. Hence, general interpretation of the IT professional and the decision makers is crucial for a comprehensive and collaborative decision-making process. Therefore, prosper stimulate assimilation of the environmental factors that persuade the knowledge integration between IT professionals and decision makers is compulsory. BI and Big Data (BD) help organizations derive enhance decision-making process and knowledge creation. The objective of this research study is to emerge knowledge from organizing BD and to utilize BI together with perceiving MIT90s framework and environmental factors for the analysis of decision-making process of halal food manufacturers in Malaysia. The study applied regression analysis to predicted 103 responses to determine decision making of business performance. The results indicate that halal market demand played important role in predicting business performance of halal manufactures. This study provides some insights into decision making perspectives of business performance management among halal food manufacturers in Malaysia.

Halal industry in Malaysia provides a great opportunity for food manufacturers to expand their businesses, globally. However, the business has faced with some difficulties to improve performance due to complexity in halal supply chain. This paper studies the adoption of halal food supply chain (HFSC) factors on business performance among halal food manufacturers in Malaysia. Data were collected randomly from Halal Development Council (HDC) directory website. Using regres-sion analysis, 103 responses were analyzed to determine the effects of adoption factors of HFSC on business performance. The results indicate that the context of technological, organizational and environmental can improve business performance of halal manufacturer. Perceived benefits in the context of technological gives the best predictor on business performance. In the context of organizational, readiness provides the best predictor of business performance. Meanwhile, halal market demand in the context of environmental gives the best predictor of business performance. The paper examines business performance in food industry; however other industries in halal are not focused. The results provide some insights into business performance among halal industry in Malaysia.

The primary objective of the research paper is to provide some insights on the concepts of intellec-tual capital and its important dimensions alongside to investigate the possible association between intellectual capital and attainment of competitive advantage. This study focuses on Iraqi hotel industry which is an under-research area in the context of intellectual capital and its relationship with competitive advantage. An adapted questionnaire was utilized to collect the responses from top and middle level managers of four and five-star hotels in Iraq. The reliability and validity of data collec-tion instrument were measured through Cronbach’s alpha, Composite Reliability and Average Var-iance Extracted respectively. The competitive advantage was then regressed against Human, Rela-tional and Structural capital by application of Partial Least Square methodology. Results of the study showed a positive and strong connotation among intellectual capital and attainment of competitive advantage. The human capital had the highest contribution for competitive advantage in hotel sector of Iraq. The top management of hotels should take interest to develop, maintain and retain human capital to attain competitive advantage over competitors.

The objective of this research is to determine the factors that can effectively predict adoption of mobile commerce in Nigeria. In doing this, 192 questionnaires were analyzed using Smart PLS-SEM. While majority of previous studies revealed negative relationship between perceived risk and system usage, the result of this study however indicated a positive relationship with mobile commerce adoption especially with the incorporation of perceived fun that tends to make mobile commerce platforms to be enjoyable. The study provides further insights into how perceived risk and fun can be used to increase the rate of adoption of mobile commerce by coming up with policies that can be used to improve the platform while marketability of mobile commerce can be enhanced.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of total quality management (TQM) between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and SME export performance in the manufacturing sector of Pakistan. This study was originated from the fact that only a few studies have examined on how the firm’s intangible resources and capabilities such as EO and TQM drive SMEs’ export performance. Some questionnaires in Likert scale were used to collect the data and 364 usable responses were received from the owner/managers of exporting SMEs. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for the data analysis. The findings reveal significant relationship between EO and TQM with SME export performance. Furthermore, this study found the complementary mediating role of TQM between EO and SME export performance of manufacturing sector of Pakistan. This study has implications for owner/managers of SMEs. The results offer a better understanding regarding EO and TQM implementation to SMEs owner / managers. Thus, owner/managers of SMEs can take better decisions for the implementation of TQM practices. Furthermore, to the best of researcher’s knowledge, this study is the first work, which examines Pakistan`s SMEs export performance in association with the TQM as the mediating factor between EO and SME export performance.

This paper attempts to predict financial distress companies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in Malaysia using financial distress companies as the dependent variable and financial ratios and macroeconomic variables as the independent variables. Logit Analysis was used as the analysis procedure because ratios do not have to be normal if it is used. It is also suitable when the dependent variable is binary in nature. Furthermore, it can also provide the probability of a company being financially distressed. This study found that the independent variables that can be used to predict financial distress companies in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia were total assets turnover ratio, current ratio, net income to total assets ratio and money supply (M2). However, the independent variables that can be used to predict financial distress companies in the non-manufacturing sector in Malaysia were debt ratio, working capital ratio, net income to total assets ratio and money supply (M2). This study provides the prediction models of financial distress com-panies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in Malaysia using financial ratios and macroeconomic variables as its independent variables.
