Authors: Nida Zahoor, Nor Azimah Chew Abdullah, Nazlina Zakaria

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2020.11.003

Keywords: Banks, High performance work practices, Job stress, Pakistan, Personality, Work-family conflict, Work-life balance

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to identify the role of high performance work practices of banks, work-family conflict, job stress, and personality of bank employees in affecting their work-life balance. To accomplish this goal, self-administered structured questionnaires were distributed to those bank employees who were either married, divorced, or separated, had children, and at least one year working experience in that bank. Final sample was comprised of 726 employees from 277 banks of South Punjab. The results revealed that high performance work practices of banks, family to work conflict, and personality type B behavioral patterns of bank employees increase their work-life balance, and work to family conflict of bank employees decreased their work-life balance. However, job stress and personality type A behavioral patterns of bank employees did not affect their work-life balance. Contrary to previous studies, these results suggest that moderate family to work conflict is actually good for work-life balance, and job stress and personality type A behavioral patterns are inherently not bad for work-life balance. Hence, State Bank of Pakistan should consider developing policies to enhance employee friendly high performance work practices in banks. Banks should also consider taking personality tests prior to recruiting and selecting employees for hectic posts.

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2020.9.039

Keywords: Deviant Behavior, Employee Engagement, Personality, Organizational Commitment

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the effect of personality on organizational commitment mediated and moderated by deviant behavior and employee engagement. The study was conducted at PT. Smartfren Telecom, Tbk in Malang City, involving 105 respondents of frontline employees and the collected data were proceed using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The finding shows that personality did not affect the enhancement of employee's organizational commitment directly. Instead, personality was able to indirectly affect organizational commitment through engagement and a good personality will decrease deviant behavior. While deviant behavior itself did not influence organizational commitment, neither mediate nor moderate the relationship between personality and organizational commitment. Meanwhile, employee engagement was able to mediate the influence of personality toward the organizational commitment, but not to moderate the relationship between the two variables. The study places deviant behavior, and employee engagement were used as the mediating and moderating variables on the effect of personality on the organizational commitment of frontline employees. The highlight of this study is that deviant behavior was not able to act as both the mediating and moderating variable on the influence of personality on organizational commitment.

Abstract:
With the prevalence of Covid 19, collaborative learning (CL) with the guide of advanced digital learning innovation has become progressively dominant in an assortment of instructional settings making the role of the lecturer more demanding in managing the classroom. In any case, notwith-standing a solid hypothetical and exploration premise, CL has been scrutinized for being excessively applied to all learning circumstances and student types but largely ignored management aspects that lecturers lack guidance and support in dealing with learner behavior. This study investigates the im-pacts of extroversion/ introversion character qualities and collectivism/individualism convictions on students’ collaborative learning preferences. The empirical data consisting of 170 valid datasets were collected from undergraduate students after attending computer-supported collaborative learn-ing of Edmodo and Google Meet. The relationship among construct was assessed with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The assessment of information demonstrated that student perceptions of computer-supported collaborative learning have a positive association with students' personality and cultural beliefs. This finding brings the implication that although collaborative learning through a digital platform is compulsory during the pandemic, extroversion/introversion on students' attitudes and students' cultural beliefs should be considered to ensure the effectiveness of instructions.

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2020.8.022

Keywords: Grit, Personality, Creativity, Teaching efficacy, Professional competence

Abstract:
This study aims to explore the power of grit, personality, and creativity to enhance teacher’s professional competence with teaching efficacy mediation. A questionnaire collected the research data through the survey method. This research participant is 386 mathematics, and natural science teachers in Indonesia spread across four provinces (Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Riau) determined by accidental sampling. Data analysis uses path analysis supported by descriptive statistics. The results show that grit, personality, and creativity, had a significant effect on teacher’s professional competence, either directly or indirectly, mediating by teaching efficacy. Personality has a more dominant direct effect on teaching efficacy and professional competence than grit and creativity. Even personality also has an indirect impact on professional competence mediating by teaching efficacy better than grit and creativity. That means the existence of personality more critical than grit and creativity. Therefore, a fit research model about grit, personality, and creativity on teacher’s professional competence mediating by teaching efficacy was found based on data from teachers in Indonesia. This model can be discussed as a reference or discuss by researchers and practitioners in developing professional competence models.

Educational and Psychological Measurement, 52, 229-237.] for measuring personality traits and the other, which is used for measuring emotional intelligence . The first questionnaire consists of five personal categories including extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability versus neuroticism, and openness. Using structural equation modeling and stepwise regression model, the study has detected a positive and meaningful relationship between four components namely, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness as well as openness and emotional intelligence.
In addition, the study detects a negative and meaningful relationship between neuroticism and emotional intelligence.

There are seven aspects of accepting reasonable risk, locus of control, the need for success, mental health conditions, being pragmatic, tolerating ambiguity, dreaming and the sense of challenging in our study to measure the level of entrepreneurship. We uniformly distribute 133 questionnaires among undergraduate students in all seven groups and analyze the results based on t-student test. Our investigation indicates that all students accept reasonable amount of risk, they preserve sufficient locus of control and they are eager for success. In addition, our tests indicate that students believe they maintain sufficient level of mental health care with strong sense of being pragmatic and they could handle ambiguity and challenges.
