DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2024.8.002

Keywords: Digital library, UTAUT, Intention to use, Jordan, Post-graduate students

Abstract:
The current study aims to determine the factors influencing the intention to employ digital libraries among postgraduate students in Jordanian universities. The data were gathered through questionnaires in the format of Google Forms. The questionnaires were distributed to postgraduate students enrolled in Jordanian universities with digital libraries, who were recruited via purposive sampling. A total of 261 responses were received, with 67 deemed unsuitable for the study analysis and subsequently excluded. Resultantly, 194 valid questionnaires were finalized for data analysis. The SMART-partial least squares (PLS) software was utilized to conduct structural equation modelling (SEM) to test the study hypotheses. This study discovered that the variables, namely performance expectancy, effort, and facilitating conditions expectancy, were significantly and positively associated with the outcome variable, which is the intention to employ digital libraries. Meanwhile, social influence was revealed to be insignificant. Performance expectancy also significantly mediated the correlations between technological readiness and the intention to utilize and between online self-efficacy and the intention to utilize. The present study focused only on potential users among postgraduate students at Jordanian universities with digital libraries. The findings contributed valuable insights into the academic sector, especially library management to enhance the rate of digital library or e-library adoption at Jordanian universities. Digital library managers and policymakers could leverage the findings to design pertinent strategies that increase user engagement within digital library environments. The UTAUT model was demonstrated to be capable of predicting users’ intentions of employing digital libraries and corroborated the mediation role of performance expectancy on the associations between technological readiness and the intention to utilize and between online self-efficacy and the intention to use.

Authors: Rosalina Ginting, Noor Miyono

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2026.1.004

Keywords: Education Policy, E-Learning, Technology Acceptance Model, Web-Based Tools, Intention to use

Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to evaluate how government education policies influence senior high school students' views on ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitudes toward use, and readiness to use web-based learning, particularly in collaborative learning scenarios in high schools. This study explores the influence of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) on the adoption of e-learning through web-based tools, focusing on high school students in Semarang, Indonesia. This study collected data through a survey using a 5-point Likert scale from 150 participants in Semarang, Indonesia. For data analysis, the study used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) along with WarpPLS 5.0 software. The study findings revealed a significant relationship between ease of use, perceived usefulness, and attitudes toward use, all of which positively impact students' willingness to use web-based learning tools for collaborative learning. Furthermore, this study also highlighted areas where the traditional TAM model could be improved by incorporating factors specific to the e-learning environment. This study enhances theoretical understanding of the factors shaping the adoption of web-based tools in e-learning among secondary school students in Indonesia, with implications emphasizing the need to refine the TAM framework to better encompass the complexities of technology adoption in educational settings, in line with the government's policy to increase e-learning adoption in the context of the Independent Curriculum Policy.

Authors: Ha Nguyet Dam, Dung Thanh Phan, Duc Tien Vu, Lan Thi Ngoc Nguyen

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2020.5.003

Keywords: Blockchain, Commercial Banks, Determinants, Intention to use, International payment

Abstract:
This study aims to shed light on the way customers determine their utilization of international payment services with blockchain applications. The primary data is collected from the 373 individuals who frequently use the international payment services in Vietnam. We apply the combination of TAM, UTAUT, and ISS models to test the determinants of the Intention to use International payment services at Commercial banks applying Blockchain. These determinants are Quality of System, Quality of Service, Quality of Information, Perceivable usefulness, Convenient usefulness, and Social influence. The research results show that (i) All of the above factors are positively associated with customers’ intention to use international payment services in Vietnamese banks which implement blockchain; (ii) The quality of information has the strongest positive impact on the customer's intended use. It refers that the international payment services in banks should be safe, accurate and timely; (iii) Differently from the hypothesis, the social influence indicator is positively related to the customer's intention to use the service, affirming the potential interests of customers on blockchain if applying successfully in banks; (iv) Although current customers have not paid much attention whether banks apply blockchain in international payment or not, they have taken concentration on fundamental risks, costs, and convenience of the services. This signal is consistent with the fact that only 2/46 commercial banks and 49 foreign bank branches in Vietnam provide international payment service with blockchain application nowadays.

Authors: Raed Masadeh, Dmaithan Almajali, Thaer Majali, Salwa AL Majali, Alaa Saeb Al-Sherideh

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.8.005

Keywords: E-government, Intention to use, Digital divide, Perceived security, Trust

Abstract:
This study investigated the relationship between the digital gap and the intention of Jordanians towards e-government usage. It focused on three components of the digital divide namely access, skills, and innovativeness. In addition, the research investigated how socio-demographic factors influence this connection. Data comprised 620 valid replies to questionnaires issued to 700 Jordanian citizens aged 22 and older who resided in urban and rural areas. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) version 24 were employed in data analyses and hypotheses testing. The results showed that all three aspects of the digital divide had a significant influence (access, skills, and innovativeness) on the intent of Jordanian citizens to utilize e-government, and the dimension of access imparted the strongest impact, followed by the dimension of skills and then the dimension of innovativeness. Additionally, it was discovered that gender, age, and education were the socio-demographic factors that could weaken the impact of the digital divide on the intentions of user to access e-government services. Contrariwise, the factor of income did not show a similar impact. Furthermore, perceived security significantly impacted the propensity towards e-government usage. Trust played a significant role in mediating the link between perceived security and the intention to engage in e-government.

Abstract:
In keeping abreast with the digitized and automated world today, governments of developing and developed nations must provide appropriate e-government services to assure confidence and effective and efficient usage among their citizens. The quality, security, and privacy of current e-government implementation have been impairing the trust and participation of users, in Jordan especially. Hence, this study examined the impacts of quality, security and privacy of e-government services on the intention to use e-government services among Jordanian citizens. Questionnaires were used to gather data, and questionnaire items covered the constructs of quality factors (information quality, system quality, and service quality), perceived security, and perceived privacy as independent variables, and the constructs of trust and intention to use as dependent variables. The study samples comprised academics in Jordanian public universities. The universities were selected using stratified sampling method, while the respondents were chosen using simple random sampling method - 212 respondents were selected. SPSS Version 18 and PLS Version 3.3.6 were used in data analyses and hypotheses testing. Results affirmed a positive and significant link between information quality, system quality, service quality, perceived security, perceived privacy and trust in e-government services, and a positive and significant link between trust in e-government services on intention to use. In e-government services implementation, Jordanian government should take into account the quality factors (information quality, system quality, and service quality), perceived privacy, and perceived security, to increase trust of the citizens and consequently their intention to use the e-government services.
