Authors: Basem Y. Barqawi, Motteh S. Al Shibly, Mahmoud Hussein Abu Jomaa, Malek Alharafsheh, Salman M Abulehyeh

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2023.1.005

Keywords: Digital supply chain adoption, Supply chain agility, Supply chain risk management, Organizational performance, Food industry

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to identify the benefits of digital supply chain and explore the effects of these benefits of the adoption of digital supply chain. The study was conducted using data collected by a questionnaire from a sample consisting of supply chain informant employees from companies in the food industry. Three benefits were selected for the current study, which are supply chain agility, organizational performance, and supply chain risk management. The results showed that digital supply chains have numerous benefits from which these three benefits have significant positive effects on digital supply chain adoption. Therefore, it was concluded that companies’ adoption of digital supply chains depends on a bundle of benefits not only related to the supply chain itself such as supply chain agility and risk management but also incorporates the company as a whole in terms of its organizational performance. It was recommended that companies should recognize the benefits of digital supply chains and make their decisions based on the desired outcomes of DSCs.

Keywords: Business Processes, Food Industry, Process Approach, Economic Transformations, Management

Abstract:
The article highlights the business process management system in food industry. The subject of the research is the theoretical and practical aspects of managing business processes in the food industry. The authors explain the concept of "business process" and methods for achieving its improvement goals. The author’s scheme for managing business processes in the food industry in the context of economic transformations was developed and implemented. The in-troduction of a process approach requires efforts and resources for identifying business pro-cesses, their analysis, drawing up models of business processes. The analysis of business pro-cesses in the food industry of Ukraine at a macro level is carried out, including: an imperfect tax system; the mechanism imperfection of state and customs tariff regulation of food mar-kets, the low level of financial support from international organizations, the low level of state support for agribusiness entities; decline in employment and rising unemployment; growth in international migration; low competitiveness of Ukrainian food products and barriers to international food trade. Methodical approaches for determining the regional strategic potential of food safety are also proposed. The calculations of the regional potential of food safety are car-ried out using the data of the Black Sea region in Ukraine as an example. The main prerequisites for the formation of a food safety system have been identified and justified. The organization’s transition to clear and efficient processes to achieve the objectives with optimal costs in the food industry; high flexibility and adaptability of the control system, due to the large self-regulation of the system and natural customer orientation; high dynamism of the system and its internal processes, due to the strong vertical integration of resource flows and a common interest in increasing their circulation; simplification of coordination, organization, control procedures and the possibility of deep integrated automation of food production; high motivation in ensuring the production of quality and competitive food is discussed.

Authors: Shahrzad Aghaei, Ali Bonyadi Naeini

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2017.11.005

Keywords: Hybrid cars (HEVs), DEMATEL, New product development, Food industry, Customer attitude

Abstract:
Developed food production lines recently have built factories for novel products to find a position in the market faster, although innovation is still expensive and risky. This study focuses on con-tributors who persuade consumers to purchase new pasta products in Tehran, and tries to determine the correlation among the criteria. This is conducted from the market experts’ view points along with a blend of grounded theory and DEMATEL. The results indicate that quality, price, packag-ing, promotion, phantasm and place parameters enhance new pasta pictures on customers’ buying decision making. According to experts, quality and price are the most influential factors and promo-tion and phantasm are completely ineffective. In addition, cultural parameters, especially local reci-pes as well as customers’ palate are important in this process.

Toward low-carbon food systems in Malaysia: Organizational perception as a mediator of agriculture operations, energy choices, and government initiatives in CO₂ emissions management Pages 217-232 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Eileen Sou Wei Koh, Zunirah Mohd Talib

DOI: 10.5267/j.jfs.2025.9.005

Keywords: Organizational Perception, CO₂ Emissions Management, Agriculture Industry Operations, Renewable Energy, Government Initiatives, Food Industry, Sustainability, Malaysia

Abstract:
Malaysia’s food industry is facing escalating pressure from rising population demands, resource scarcity, and the mounting effects of climate change. As agriculture remains vital to national food security and economic stability, managing its environmental footprint—particularly CO₂ emissions—has become an urgent priority. Despite growing global attention to sustainability, limited empirical research has explored how internal organizational dynamics and energy transition efforts influence emissions outcomes in the Malaysian context. This study aims to address this gap by examining the effects of agriculture industry operations, renewable energy consumption, and government initiatives on CO₂ emissions management, with organizational perception acting as a mediating factor. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) on pilot survey data from food industry stakeholders, the findings highlight that organizational perception significantly mediates the relationship between renewable energy consumption and government initiatives on CO₂ emissions outcomes. While agricultural operations do not directly or indirectly influence emissions through organizational perception, both renewable energy use and proactive government policies foster a stronger environmental orientation within organizations—leading to improved emissions management. The study contributes to the discourse on sustainable development in emerging economies by emphasizing the critical role of organizational mindset in translating external sustainability drivers into tangible environmental outcomes. These insights offer practical implications for industry leaders and policymakers seeking to enhance sustainability strategies within Malaysia’s agri-food sector.
