Carbon emission disclosure and PROPER: Are they attractive to foreign investors? Pages 1903-1910 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Luky Patricia Widianingsih, Cliff Kohardinata

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2024.2.013

Keywords: Carbon emission disclosure, PROPER, Foreign investor, Sustainability, Investment

Abstract:
This study examines the effect of carbon emission disclosure and the Public Disclosure Program for Environmental Compliance (PROPER) on foreign ownership of manufacturing companies in Indonesia from 2018 to 2022 that publish annual reports or sustainability reports, registered with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry PROPER, and carbon emissions disclosure in the annual report and/or sustainability report. The analysis method uses the ordinary least squared (OLS) approach to study 28 PROPER manufacturing companies used as samples. The control variable used is return on equity (ROE), this is based on the idea that foreign investors are willing to invest in other countries to get a return on the equity or capital channeled to the company. The results show that carbon emissions disclosure has a significant positive effect on foreign ownership. Conversely, PROPER did not have any significant positive effect on foreign ownership. The results show interesting results that foreign investors are proven to consider environmental aspects in making decisions to invest in companies in Indonesia. On the other hand, the Indonesian government needs to ensure that its PROPER ratings can also provide benefits to foreign investors to attract their investment decisions.

A game theoretical approach for a green supply chain: A case study in hydraulic-pneumatic industry Pages 297-314 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Tuğçe Dabanlı Kurt, Derya Eren Akyol

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2023.1.005

Keywords: Stackelberg Game, Green Manufacturing, Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, Vendor-Buyer Models

Abstract:
As customers' orientation towards environmental products increases, manufacturers and other members of the supply chain are looking for ways to conduct their operations in an environmentally and cost-effective manner. To find a solution that compensates these requests, a game theoretical approach is developed for a two-stage green supply chain consisting of a supplier and a producer. A Stackelberg game model based on asymmetric information structure is developed to find the optimal lot sizes and raw material sales price for raw material supplier, and the product sales price and the environmental cost for the producer. The developed approach is illustrated on a real-world case study that deals with production and raw material procurement processes of a plastic plug and compared to a scenario in which no environmental expenditures exist. The effect of changes in the model has been observed by tuning some significant parameters with the experimental design approach.

Sustainability of the Peruvian public debt and its effect on economic growth in the period 2000-2021 Pages 431-440 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Lia Sheyla Quispe-Adauto, Sheyla Vilcas-Mamani, Wagner Vicente-Ramos

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2022.12.001

Keywords: Economic growth, Public debt, Econometrics, Sustainability

Abstract:
The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of public debt sustainability on economic growth in the period 2000-2021 and establish a new optimal debt level that does not affect Peru's economic growth. The general method used to determine this effect was the hypothetical deductive method with a non-experimental and longitudinal trend design, because the data to be analyzed are variations that have occurred over time; the VAR (vector autoregressive) model was used as a specific method, because the evidence was insufficient to consider the simultaneity between the reactions of the variables to propose an SVAR model. Data were collected from economic portals such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), as well as the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP). The estimated sample size was 88 observations representing all quarters from 2000 to 2021. As a result of the econometric regression, the impact of the level of public debt on economic growth is positive, since a one-unit increase in the percentage of public debt will increase the variation of GDP by almost 1.1%. Regarding the debt level forecast and according to the projection made, it was determined that the new debt level that does not affect the sustainability of public finances or the long-term economic growth of the Peruvian economy should be 38% of GDP.

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2024.1.013

Keywords: Green commitment, Green human resource management, Green innovative workplace behavior, Sustainability

Abstract:
This study examines the relationships among green human resource management (GHRM), green commitment, green innovative work behavior (GIWB), and the moderating effect of environmentally specific servant leadership (ESSL) in UAE higher education institutes of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Using a sample of employees, data were collected through a survey from 243 employees working in different universities across the UAE and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The SEM analysis confirms robust relationships between GHRM, environmentally specific servant leadership, green commitment, and green innovative workplace behavior. GHRM has a positive impact on GHRM. ESSL fosters the relationship between GHRM and green commitment, while green commitment positively impacts green innovative workplace behavior. Females were found to be more environmentally aware of the needed adjustments compared to male workers at the UAE campuses. The study suggests that higher education institutes in the UAE should adopt ESSL to support eco-conscious behaviors and green practices on their campuses and contribute to the achievement of national sustainability goals.

Authors: Saritha Kittie Uda, Basrowi Basrowi

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2023.9.015

Keywords: Environmental Education, Environmentally Friendly Supply Chain Efficiency, Foster Environmental Knowledge, Sustainability

Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the impact of Environmental Education on sustainability and the mediating role of Environmentally Friendly Supply Chain Efficiency (EFSC) and Fostered Environmental Knowledge (FENK). Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected from supply chain professionals who participated in Environmental Education programs. The research findings indicate a positive relationship between Environmental Education and supply chain sustainability. The study revealed that Environmental Education significantly enhances EFSC and FENK and positively influences sustainability practices within supply chains. The implications of this research are twofold. Firstly, it underscores the importance of incorporating Environmental Education as a fundamental component of supply chain management, contributing to more environmentally responsible practices. Secondly, the study highlights the mediating role of EFSC and FENK, indicating that not only does Environmental Education directly impact sustainability but also through the enhancement of these mediating factors. This research offers a novel perspective by establishing the link between Environmental Education, EFSC, FENK, and supply chain sustainability. However, certain limitations should be acknowledged, such as the potential for response bias and the need for further research to explore other potential mediators. Nevertheless, this study provides valuable insights for practitioners and policymakers seeking to promote sustainability in supply chains by emphasizing the role of Environmental Education and its interconnectedness with EFSC and FENK.
