The effect of intellectual capital towards sustainability of business performance mediated by eco-product innovation & external learning: The Indonesian bottled drinking water industries Pages 541-556 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Max Karel Salangka, Daniel Daud Kameo, Harijono Harijono

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2023.8.017

Keywords: Intellectual capital, eco-product innovation, External learning, Sustainability performance

Abstract:
This study developed and empirically corroborated a structure explicitly propositioning eco-product innovation and external learning, correspondingly bridging the link between intellectual capital and sustainability performance. The theory of dynamic capabilities and knowledge-based view proposed eco-product creation and external education as mediators that developed a new conceptual model. This study utilized the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM method) to examine one hundred sixty-two Indonesian bottled drinking industries, exposing their attentiveness to cooperate in the study. More essentially, the study unraveled new justifications by scrutinizing external learning's role as more influential than eco-product innovation. Based on the practical viewpoint, intellectual capital helped exchange knowledge and information with distributors, suppliers, and competitors. Thus, the complete assimilation and transformation of their understanding could improve business performance.

Keywords: Sustainability Performance, Green Products, Environmental Knowledge, Manufacturing Sector, Green Management

Abstract:
This research intends to figure the antecedents of Green Management and its implementation in manufacturing sector companies in UAE. The study also intends to explore the relationship between the implementation of green management and sustainable performance as measured by complied scale of social, economic and environmental performance. Quantitative research methods are used and the necessary data are collected from 134 companies by using google form survey sent to participants. Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 22 is used to analyze the data. The findings of this research reveal that managers’ environmental knowledge and managers’ green product awareness were positively and significantly associated with green management and that green management was also positively and significantly associated with sustainable performance.

Keywords: Eco-efficiency, Sustainability performance, Green Supply Chain Management, GSCM, SMEs

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between eco-efficiency and sustainability performance, the relationship between eco-supply chain management and sustainability performance and analyze the mediating role of Eco-Supply Chain Management on the relationship between eco-efficiency and sustainability performance. The study method is a quantitative survey which is executed through the partial least square structural equation model (SEM-PLS) with a statistical data processing tool, namely SmartPLS 4.0 software. Research data was obtained by distributing online questionnaires through social media designed using a Likert scale of 7. Respondents in this study were 590 SMEs owners in Java Island, Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that eco-efficiency had a positive and significant effect on sustainability performance, green supply chain management (GSCM) had a positive and significant effect on sustainability performance. GSCM also plays a full mediating role in the relationship between eco-efficiency and sustainability performance. This research is expected to be a source of reference for further research in discussing issues related to the implementation of eco-efficiency and GSCM.

The influence of balanced scorecard dimension on total quality management and sustainable performance as a mediating variable: An empirical study in KSA services projects Pages 247-258 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Heba Mousa Mousa Hikal, Omer Tajelsir Omer Elnour, Abdelmjeed Ali Alajab, Khalid Eltayeb Ali Ahmed, Nagwa Mohamed Bahreldin Abubaker, Yosra Azhari Elamin Elboukhari, Asaad Mubarak Hussien Musa

DOI: 10.5267/j.jpm.2025.2.004

Keywords: Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Total Quality Management (TQM), Sustainability Performance, Financial Dimension, Customer Dimension, Internal processes Dimension, Learning and Growth Dimension

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the influence of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) dimensions (financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and growth) on Total Quality Management (TQM), with sustainability performance as a mediating variable. The study utilized a cross-sectional survey method, distributing 400 questionnaires to employees in the service projects in KSA. Out of these, 340 questionnaires were deemed valid for final analysis. Data analysis was conducted using the SmartPls program. The study found that all BSC dimensions, except for the learning and growth dimension, had a negative direct effect on TQM, and the BSC dimensions through sustainability performance positively affected TQM, except for the learning and growth dimension. The main contribution of the research is to identify the BSC dimensions that best predict TQM in service projects in Saudi Arabia. The extended model test shows that sustainability performance is a good mediator in the causal relationship between the BSC dimensions and TQM. Future research can validate these findings in projects such as capital construction and industrial projects using a longitudinal survey design. Organizations can apply these research findings by leveraging the Balanced Scorecard as a management framework for predicting and improving TQM.

Abstract:
The paper examined the influence of digital marketing and e-commerce on marketing performance and sustainability of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This research is quantitative research using a questionnaire approach method. Quantitative research is a research method based on the philosophy of positivism, used to research certain populations or samples, collecting data using research instruments, quantitative or statistical data analysis, with the aim of testing predetermined hypotheses. The sampling technique in this research is non-probability sampling. The respondents of this research were 580 SME owners in Indonesia. Research data was obtained by distributing online questionnaires via social media. The questionnaire was designed using a Likert scale from 1 to 7 and the analysis of research data used structural equation modeling (SEM). Based on the research results, it is concluded that digital marketing had a positive and significant relationship to marketing performance, E-Commerce had a positive and significant relationship with marketing performance, Digital marketing had a positive and significant relationship with business sustainability. In SMEs, E-Commerce had a positive and significant relationship with business sustainability in SMEs.
