The effects of environmental knowledge and green products awareness on green management and sustainable performance: Evidence from manufacturing sector in UAE Pages 757-762 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Majdi Khaleeli, Suja Pradeep, Latha Krishnadas

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2020.10.031

Keywords: Sustainability Performance, Green Products, Environmental Knowledge, Manufacturing Sector, Green Management

Abstract:
This research intends to figure the antecedents of Green Management and its implementation in manufacturing sector companies in UAE. The study also intends to explore the relationship between the implementation of green management and sustainable performance as measured by complied scale of social, economic and environmental performance. Quantitative research methods are used and the necessary data are collected from 134 companies by using google form survey sent to participants. Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 22 is used to analyze the data. The findings of this research reveal that managers’ environmental knowledge and managers’ green product awareness were positively and significantly associated with green management and that green management was also positively and significantly associated with sustainable performance.

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2022.11.010

Keywords: Supply chain agility, Business intelligence, Cultural competence, Technical competence, Managerial competence, Manufacturing sector

Abstract:
This study aimed to examine the effect of integrating Business Intelligence (BI) into the supply chain on supply chain agility, within the Jordanian manufacturing sector. Based on the resource-based view of the firm, this study developed and examined a research model, to achieve its goal. The impact of three dimensions of BI including managerial, technical, and cultural competencies was examined. Using an electronic questionnaire, data was gathered from 462 administrative personnel and employees. Structural equation modeling techniques were employed to analyze the data. Results revealed that the three dimensions of BI have statistically significant positive direct effects on supply chain agility. In addition to that, the results revealed that BI cultural competence has statistically significant positive direct effects on BI technical and managerial competencies. This study contributes to the literature on the role of BI in promoting supply chain agility, from the perspective of a developing country. The findings of this study are expected to help organizations' administrations in making better decisions regarding employing BI to achieve an agile supply chain.

Predicting financial distress companies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in Malaysia using macroeconomic variables Pages 593-604 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mohd Norfian Alifiah, Muhammad Sohail Tahir

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2018.4.031

Keywords: Macroeconomic variables, Financial ratios, Financial distress, Manufacturing sector, Non-manufacturing sector, Malaysia

Abstract:
This paper attempts to predict financial distress companies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in Malaysia using financial distress companies as the dependent variable and financial ratios and macroeconomic variables as the independent variables. Logit Analysis was used as the analysis procedure because ratios do not have to be normal if it is used. It is also suitable when the dependent variable is binary in nature. Furthermore, it can also provide the probability of a company being financially distressed. This study found that the independent variables that can be used to predict financial distress companies in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia were total assets turnover ratio, current ratio, net income to total assets ratio and money supply (M2). However, the independent variables that can be used to predict financial distress companies in the non-manufacturing sector in Malaysia were debt ratio, working capital ratio, net income to total assets ratio and money supply (M2). This study provides the prediction models of financial distress com-panies in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors in Malaysia using financial ratios and macroeconomic variables as its independent variables.

Development of decision support system for e-supplier selection in Indian mechanical manufacturing industry using distance based approximation Pages 295-308 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Alok Kumar, Ramesh Kumar Garg, Dixit Garg

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2018.12.001

Keywords: e-supplier, Supplier selection, e-supply chain, Distance based approximation (DBA), Manufacturing sector, Indian industries

Abstract:
This paper proposes a framework to develop a deterministic model for the valuation, selection and grading (ranking) of e-suppliers by using Modified Distance Based Approach (MDBA), which has not been used earlier in e-supplier selection. The e-supplier selection system performs a major part for the successful running of any supply chain. Thus, for effective running of any supply chain, it is necessary to build a system for the selection of e-supplier. Building such a decision support system software is important for the development of any decision support system efficiently with reduced cost, time and effort. The current research is based on 8 criteria and 52 sub-criteria by giving equal weightage to all of them. In this study, the major criteria are disintegrated into small sub-criteria. To validate the results obtained through the proposed distance based approximation method, the results are compared with other methodologies. Finally, with the illustration of the example problem, the applicability of the developed model is described.
