Keywords: Income, Quality of medical examination and treatment, Hospital resources, Job satisfaction, Organizational loyalty

Abstract:
Human resources in the medical sector play a very important role in public service activities to per-form tasks as prescribed by law to serve the interests of the people and society. In this way, the service of medical doctors also has a direct effect on the public services and healthcare services of Vietnam. This research analyzes factors affecting doctors’ satisfaction and loyalty from a survey of 228 doctors working in public hospitals in Vietnam. The study was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative tools to examine the hypotheses of the survey. Cronbach’s Alpha analysis, Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were employed to test the relationship among the factors in the research model. The results indicated that the influential factors on the satisfaction of a doctor’s job include the following, listed in diminishing importance order: (1) Income, (2) Relationship with colleagues, (3) Quality of medical examination and treatment, (4) Hospital resources, (5) Autonomy at work, (6) Training and promotion opportunities. Besides, when doctors are satisfied with their job, they tend to be loyal to the organization. The study proposes several policy implications for medical sector managers to increase the doctors’ satisfaction and loyalty in public health services.

The study concluded that there was a positive relationship between the quality of cellular devices and the selection of brand and this relationship was attributed to the variables of gender, age, and educational culture. In light of the results revealed, the study recommended the producers of cellular devices of the various brands to offer high quality products with appropriate prices that take into accounts the purchasing power for consumers based on the targeted markets.

Factors affecting offshore fishing households’ income in southern central coast of Vietnam Pages 1369-1376 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Hiep Hong Hoang, Tam Bang Vu, Hanh Viet Ho, Hung Tuan Vu, Quang Dai Nguyen

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2019.11.020

Keywords: Income, Fishermen, Factors, Offshore fishing, Southern Central Region

Abstract:
This paper uses econometrics models to estimate factors affecting the offshore fishing households’ incomes in the Southern Central Coast of Vietnam. We estimate two basic models: one with total income as the dependent variable and the other with per capita income as the dependent variable. Since heteroscedasticity is in present, the study employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimations with Robust Standard Errors (OLSR). The models are further divided into a model with intercept dummies and the one with slope dummies. The estimation results for the intercept dummies indicate that fishing technology, number of days per trip, type of fishery, the residential characteristics, household size, number of dependents, captains' experience, fishing ground, consumer market, and the role of officers for fishing stimulation are the main factors having significant impacts on fishing household’s income. Surprisingly, ship capacity, income diversification, career passion, householder’s educational background, and consumer market have no significant impact on fishing household’s income. The results for the intercept and slope dummies, both, indicate that the Southern areas enjoy more benefits than the Northern areas in terms of income and utilizing the stimulation policies. The empirical results allow us to suggest some policy recommendations for central and provincial government aiming at improving offshore fishing household’s income in the Southern Central Coast of Vietnam.

Smart for development: Income level as the element of smartphone diffusion Pages 1141-1150 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Maral Jamalova, Milán György Constantinovits

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2019.10.027

Keywords: Smartphone market, Segmentation, Smartphone diffusion, Income

Abstract:
For understanding the place of income in smartphone diffusion, this paper aims to find out the dependence of smartphone market indicators on income level worldwide and in the developing economies. The strength of the relationship between above mentioned variables identifies the speed of smartphone diffusion influenced by income. For current purposes, secondary data from 189 countries were analyzed by using Hierarchical Cluster Analysis and Chi-square analysis. The results confirmed that income level influences smartphone purchase and diffusion. However, the strength of the relationship between income and smartphone market indicators is diverse globally and in developing countries. In developing countries, the strength of the relationship is smaller in comparison with the overall results. It means that income level has weak moderating effect in smartphone diffusion, and it cannot be considered as a key indicator of smartphone diffusion in developing countries according to results of the analysis in 2016 and the arithmetic mean of 2013-2017 years.
