Abstract:
Smart farming is a feasible solution to help farmers effectively and sustainably manage the potential threats and risks those traditional farmers face, such as product quality, increased production costs, the environment, climate change, natural catastrophes, pests, and inferior goods. Using a survey research design, this research examined smart farming adoption and risk management models by combining the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT). The research sampled 400 farmers who are members of community enterprises in the northeastern region of Thailand. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using a statistical package program in four steps: confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, structural equation model analysis (SEM), and Sobel's test. The findings revealed that government support variables had the most significant influence by adopting smart farming to risk management. Based on the research results, the government can apply this model to create strategies to encourage farmers to adopt smart farming and increase the production efficiency of agricultural products. The farmer can manage the risks of smart farming, which leads to sustainable smart farming and is useful for further academic acceptance and risk management studies. Furthermore, this study contributes to the existing literature on combining TAM and IDT in model adoption and risk management. The limitations include the small sample size adopted and the limited coverage area for the study, which restricts the generalization of the findings. However, the findings offer a glimpse into the benefits of smart farming.

Abstract:
The study identified factors affecting the income of migrant households in Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province. To achieve this goal, in this study we surveyed 385 migrant households in the study area. The analysis of the multivariate linear regression model has identified three factors that have significant impacts on household income, including (i) the number of migrants, (ii) Number of activities income generation activities, (iii) Destination of migrants. On this basis, the study offers some meaningful solutions to improve income and ensure the lives of migrant households in Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province in the near future.

Keywords: Housing conditions, House type, Multinomial logit, Rural, Vietnamese students

Abstract:
Using data from the 2018 Vietnam Household Living Standard Survey, the current study ex-amines factors associated with housing conditions in rural Vietnam. We used both descriptive statistics and regression analyses. Controlling for other factors in the regression models, the study finds that households with better education and occupation were more likely to have larger sizes of housing area per person, higher value of the house and permanent houses. Also, the housing conditions are much better for the Kinh population (the ethnic majority) than that for ethnic minorities. In addition, we find that the opportunities for obtaining better housing outcomes vary largely across regions. Our research findings suggest that improving the access of ethnic minorities to education and better job are expected to improve the housing conditions.

Investigating crucial factors affecting pharmacy students’ intention to work in rural area: A quantitative approach Pages 2157-2168 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Keywords: Pharmacy, Job Intention, Rural, Urban, Interest, Intention to work

Abstract:
Maldistribution of skilled health workers between urban and rural area, especially pharmacist has become a global phenomenon. Not only the developing countries but also the developed country like the United States has been facing the same issue for a decades. Thus, many researchers have been trying to figure it out the reasons behind this occurrence. In their studies, most of the research-ers agreed that fresh graduates from pharmacy school were willing to work in the rural area. Therefore the primary aim of this study is to identify the important factors that can affect pharmacy stu-dents’ intention to work in rural area. Additionally, this study also tests the mediating effect of inter-est on the intention to work in the rural area of pharmacy students. A conceptual model is developed based on the two popular theories; namely theory of individual behavior and theory of interest. This model consists of three independent and one mediating and dependent variable. A quantitative ap-proach is used to test the hypotheses. With a structured questionnaire, this study is managed to get 675 students from different pharmacy schools. Multiple regression and Sobel tests are applied to test the direct and mediating effect. Results show that two out of three had a significant direct effect on pharmacy students’ intention to work in rural area. Similarly, a mediating effect also reveals the same. Based on the results, it is clear that predisposing variable is the most important for the phar-macy students’ interest to work in the rural area. The finding of this study, indeed, fills the paucity of the empirical evidence regarding pharmacy students’ working intention to the rural area, especial-ly in the Indonesian context. Based on the findings, this study provides several recommendations for the government as well as pharmacy curricula developer.
