Evaluation of factors affecting employee performance: The case of government employees in Oman Pages 1443-1450 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Nasreddine Saadouli, Maryam Yousuf Obaid Al-Khanbashi

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2021.1.004

Keywords: mployee performance, organizational change, public administration, Oman, technology

Abstract:
There is a universal consensus that improving employee performance is a cornerstone for any organization’s path to success and prosperity. However, when it comes to identifying what factors trigger such an improvement, there is anything but consensus among researchers. In this paper, a sample of government employees in the Sultanate of Oman is studied to discern the factors that affect employee performance. A factor analysis is applied to validate the constructs used to measure the various variables. A correlation analysis and a corresponding multiple linear regression is carried out to test the hypotheses. In contrast to many research findings, the results indicate that the only significant factor is technology; whereas leadership and organizational structure are neutral. The results are analyzed and discussed in view of the socio-cultural context of the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC region.

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2024.3.008

Keywords: Public administration, AI, CSR, Social Media, Decision-Making

Abstract:
Company activities can yield both favorable and adverse outcomes. Among the detrimental effects are various environmental crises stemming from companies' failure to responsibly manage and uphold ethical business practices within their operational environment. This study aims to scrutinize the impact of artificial intelligence and social media on augmenting public administration decision-making and its repercussions on corporate social responsibility within enterprises situated in Sidoarjo, East Java Province, Indonesia. The sample comprises 130 respondents representing companies actively engaged in corporate social responsibility endeavors. Employing purposive sampling technique, data collected from surveys were subjected to Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis. The research outcomes and data analysis reveal that artificial intelligence significantly and directly influences corporate decision-making as well as public administration of social responsibility. Likewise, the utilization of social media by both corporations and government exhibits a direct and positive correlation with corporate decision-making and corporate social responsibility. Public administration decision-making also demonstrates a direct and significant impact on corporate social responsibility within companies in Sidoarjo, East Java Province, Indonesia. Moreover, public administration decision-making partially mediates the effects of artificial intelligence utilization and social media utilization on public administration of social responsibility within companies in Sidoarjo, East Java Province, Indonesia.

The role of public administration and social media educational socialization in influencing public satisfaction on population services: The mediating role of population literacy awareness Pages 345-356 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Akhmad Junaidi, Basrowi Basrowi, Joko Sabtohadi, A.M. Wibowo, Susalit Setya Wibowo, Ali Asgar, Edi Priyo Pramono, Efa Yenti

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.9.019

Keywords: Public administration, Social media educational socialization, Population literacy awareness, Public satisfaction

Abstract:
This research investigates the interplay between public administration, educational socialization on social media, population literacy awareness, and public satisfaction in the context of population services. The primary objective is understanding how these variables are interconnected and their collective impact on public satisfaction. The study employs a quantitative approach, collecting data through structured questionnaires from a randomly selected sample. Data analysis involves various statistical techniques using Smart PLS, including regression and mediation analysis. The findings reveal that public administration significantly influences population literacy awareness, underscoring the role of government agencies in shaping citizen understanding of demographic policies. While it was anticipated that population literacy awareness would mediate the relationship between public administration and educational socialization on social media for public satisfaction, this mediating effect needed to be supported. However, social media use was found to influence population literacy awareness, indirectly affecting public satisfaction directly. It highlights the potential of digital platforms to enhance citizen understanding and engagement. The implications are substantial. Governments should recognize the importance of effective communication and digital engagement in fostering an informed and satisfied citizenry. Additionally, tailored communication and education initiatives are crucial for promoting public understanding and engagement, ultimately contributing to higher levels of public satisfaction. The research's novelty lies in its exploration of the complex dynamics among these variables and its focus on the role of digital platforms in enhancing population literacy awareness. However, some limitations include the potential for context-specific findings and the need for further research in diverse settings.

Analyzing technology acceptance model for collaborative governance in public administration: Empirical evidence of digital governance and perceived ease of use Pages 41-48 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Hardi Warsono, Teguh Yuwono, Ika Riswanti Putranti

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2022.12.008

Keywords: Technology Acceptance Model, Public administration, Digital governance, Electronic public services, Collaborative governance

Abstract:
This research was conducted with the primary aim to investigate digital governance by examining empirical evidence regarding the application of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in public administration. The antecedents of TAM were explored to estimate behavioral intention and actual use in electronic public service in public administration in Indonesia. The research was conducted in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia by employing simple random sampling techniques to collect a total of 182 respondents. By using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (PLS-SEM), the results showed significant effects on perceived usefulness and attitude toward use. The variable of perceived usefulness was also empirically proven to have a significant effect on attitude toward use and behavioral intention. The findings found that attitude toward use had a significant effect on behavioral intention, and then behavioral intention was empirically proven to have an effect on actual use. Mediating analysis from the variables of perceived usefulness, attitude toward use and behavioral intention also found the mediating roles. Theoretically, these findings contribute to the digital governance framework by providing empirical evidence strengthening the relevance and affirming the application of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in the context of public administration. Practically, these findings have managerial implications that the application of TAM in the public administration sector is relevant to be explored with a professional management model and a user-based approach in the development of digital applications and websites.
