Abstract:
Despite its potential to significantly improve the efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability of construction sector services, the implementation of digital government transformation in many countries has often failed to achieve desired results due to low user adoption. This study introduces a factor model to predict technology readiness and acceptance behavior in the implementation of digital government transformation within construction business licensing and procurement services by integrating the Technology Readiness and Technology Acceptance Models. Survey data collected from construction companies, experts, project managers, and procurement committees in Indonesia were used to test the model through Structural Equation Modelling (SMART-PLS). The findings reveal that positive technological readiness has a significant impact on perceived usefulness and users' intention to use the system. Additionally, it was discovered that a one-point increase in the intention to use led to a 0.625 increase in achievement value. This research contributes to addressing the slow adoption of digital government transformation by exploring intention-to-use behavior in the construction sector.

Abstract:
Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) has been widely recognized as a useful tool for effectively managing firms’ supply chain activities. Extant research on RFID in the supply chain domain has focused on implementing this technology in various supply chain activities, such as logistics and transportation, assembly and manufacturing. However, the application of RFID in warehousing management has received little attention. This study explores the implementation of RFID in warehousing in the construction sector. The study objectives are twofold. First, it explores the benefits of implementing RFID. Secondly, the study identifies major challenges associated with implementing RFID, which can prevent realizing the full potential of the technology in warehouse operations. The study adopts a qualitative research design by employing a case study approach to achieve these objectives. Specifically, the study undertakes three weeks of field observation and conducts interviews with 9 participants involved in warehouse operations in the construction sector. The findings show RFID implementations could bring significant values to warehouse management related to operational efficiency, service level and warehouse flexibility. However, the study also uncovered several challenges that can block the case firm from capturing the full potential of implementing RFID. The findings can contribute to a better understanding of the application of RFID technology in warehousing. Practitioners can understand the identified challenges to help them tackle them and inform their future decisions regarding further investment in this technology.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the impact of financial leverage and supply chain finance on firm performance of Vietnamese construction sector. Although there is a big gap in the literature needed to be filled, little empirical evidence can be found on this interesting topic. Therefore, the results are essential for Vietnamese firms, particularly those in construction industry. By adopting the generalized method of moment (GMM), the results reveal the significant influence of financial leverage and supply chain finance on the performance of construction firms. In particular, firm performance (FP) is more influenced by financial leverage (FL) than supply chain finance (SCF). The findings also show that supply chain finance plays a key role in enhancing firm performance. Meanwhile, more debts and their inefficient use exert a negative impact on firm performance, which is an unprecedented finding of this study.

Abstract:
The real estate and construction industry have significantly played a particularly important role in economic development in each economy. In the case of Vietnam, the real estate and construction industry have greatly contributed a large proportion to the gross domestic product (GDP) growth with a sustainable annual growth. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of manager’s ability, wage minimum policy, and firm size on firm performance. Using 220 real estate and construction firms in the case of Vietnam, results depict that a greater ability of managers in the real estate and construction sector will significantly enhance the efficiency of businesses. In addition, a larger firm can reach a higher firm efficiency while the efficiency of the real estate and construction firms is not impacted by changes of wage minimum policy.

Abstract:
Government construction projects are vital to the economic development of developing countries. However, although most of these projects suffer from abandonment, little evidence exists concerning the causes that account for this setback. This paper investigates the causes of government construction project abandonment in Ghana. We used a sequential data collection approach, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and questionnaire surveys to solicit the views of project management practitioners, contractors, and clients associated with Ghana government construction project implementation. Using factor analysis and structural equation modelling, we find that Ghanaian government construction project abandonment is influenced by five sets of causes: political leadership, culture, external forces, resources (including funding) and administrative/institutional bottlenecks. Three of these sets of causes – political leadership, cultural and external forces, are the primary causes, while resources (including funding) and administrative/institutional causes are secondary causes.

Abstract:
The paper aims to examine the impact of human capital, capital structure choice and firm profitability of 48,673 Vietnamese construction firms in 2016. Measuring firm profitability by return on assets (ROA) or return on equity (ROE), the results demonstrated that using more debt in capital structure would positively increase the performance of the firm but this positive effect was increasingly declining. Moreover, evidence showed that human capital had a positive impact on the result of business activities. A larger size of a firm could positively boost firm performance. Regarding firm location, a firm locating in the metropolitan of Ho Chi Minh City had a higher level of performance than a firm locating in the metropolitan of Hanoi capital. Finally, operating status of the firm as well as the establishment of industrial park had insignificant impacts on firm profitability.
