DOI: 10.5267/j.ac.2021.5.009

Keywords: Fraud, Financial statement, Pharmaceutical companies, Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract:
A fraudulent financial statement is an issue that continues to be discussed as a form of deviation from corporate governance. Covid-19 pandemic has also demanded management to uphold the company's performance to have a good public image. Thus, the present study sets out to scrutinize the fraud pentagon theory on fraudulent financial statements. Each element is not able to be tested directly. However, there are proxies. The pressure element is proxied as a personal financial need. The opportunity is becoming the nature of industry. Each of the qualities of the external auditors as well as the change of directors propose rationalization and competence. The frequent number of CEO’s appearances in photos is a proxy of arrogance. The testing was carried out on the registered pharmaceutical companies of the Indonesian stock exchange in the span of the 2015-2019 period. The samples were selected by the means of sampling technique which is purposive. Data are scrutinized by the means of panel data regression. The analysis results show that the characteristics of the industry positively affects financial reports which are fraudulent. Changing top management positions such as directors can be an indication of financial reports which are fraudulent. The personal financial need variables, the caliber of external auditors and the quantity of CEO’s appearance in photos pose no effects on the fraudulent financial statements of the Indonesian's pharmaceutical companies.

Investigating students' behavioral intention to use mobile learning in higher education in UAE during Coronavirus-19 pandemic Pages 321-330 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2021.6.001

Keywords: Fear emotions, COVID-19 pandemic, Mobile learning, Technology Acceptance Model, Expectation-Confirmation Model

Abstract:
The study explores the impacts of fear emotions on technology adoption by teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mobile learning (ML) has been considered an educational, social platform in private and public higher education institutes. Since several fears are connected with COVID-19, this study's key hypotheses are related to how COVID-19 influences Mobile Learning (ML) adoption. Educators, teachers, and students may face some common types of fear in the course of the coronavirus pandemic, such as fear of losing social relationships, fear of educational loss and failure, and fear because of the lockdown of the family in the prevailing circumstances. Different theoretical models, named Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), are combined to develop an integrated model for this study. The proposed model was analyzed with the development of a questionnaire survey. The survey served as a data collection instrument to collect data from students of the University of Sharjah in Sharjah city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Three hundred twenty undergraduate students participated in the study. The collected data was evaluated using the partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The significant predictors revealed by experimental results included perceived fear, perceived ease of use, expectation confirmation, satisfaction, and perceived usefulness, explaining the intention to use the mobile learning platform. According to our study, teaching and learning can be benefitted to a great extent by the adoption of mobile learning (ML) during this pandemic for educational purposes; however, this process may be negatively affected by the fear of future educational results, fear of losing social relations and fear of stressful family situations. Therefore, appropriate student evaluation may be conducted to overcome the emotional distress caused by the pandemic effectively.

Abstract:
This paper aims to determine factors that affect consumers’ intention to re-purchase by combining consumers’ attitudes and satisfaction in mobile shopping via sharing economy platforms. The research sample consists of 367 valid participants in the metropolitan area of Ho Chi Minh City who experienced buying products from brick and mortar retailers by using crowdshipping service, using PLS-SEM. The results confirm that Personal Innovativeness significantly affected Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and trust. Consumers' attitudes toward buying products via crowdshipping services in sharing economy platforms are determined by PEOU and trust, and their satisfaction of an purchasement is impacted by Check out attributes and Delivery attributes, leading to re-purchase an order via this platform. Brick and mortar retailers need to create a corporation with crowdshipping service platforms to increase sales during COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, shipping quality should be ensured to satisfy consumers which leads to long-term usage.

DOI: 10.5267/j.sci.2026.1.004

Keywords: Scientometrics, COVID-19 Pandemic, Vaccine Research, Scopus Database, Literature Analysis, Research Trends, lobal Health, Citation Analysis

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has created an exponential trend in global research mobilization, with vaccines as a primary objective. This present survey gives a scientometric study on the landscape of research concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines, using a dataset of 19,749 records from the Scopus database where only 200 records are chosen for the review. The analysis maps the conceptual structure and dynamics of this area by looking at the publication trends, key contributors, core research themes, and impact of the published papers. The results have disclosed an exponential trend in publications, peaking in 2021-2022, driven by the quick requirement for development, evaluating, and deploying vaccines. The study was investigated by large-scale international collaborations, with prolific contributions from universities as well as vaccine makers in the United States, China, and Europe. High-impact journals like The Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine considered critical dissemination channels. Thematic clusters are dominated by vaccine development and immunology, real-world effectiveness, SARS-CoV-2 variants and immune evasion, vaccine safety, and public acceptance. The evolution of study is concentrated on from initial clinical trials to real-world evidence, variant-specific challenges, and eventually, long-term impact and systemic lessons. The survey gives a comprehensive review of a defining scientific effort, showing the collaborative and rapid-response nature of research during a global health crisis.
