We address a manufacturing environment with the no-wait constraint which is common in industries such as metal, plastic, and semiconductor. Setup times are modelled as uncertain with the objective of minimizing maximum lateness which is an important performance measure for customer satisfaction. This problem has been addressed in scheduling literature for the two-machine no-wait flowshop where dominance relations were presented. Recently, another dominance relation was presented and shown to be about 90% more efficient than the earlier ones. In the current paper, we propose two new dominance relations, which are less restrictive than the earlier ones in the literature. The new dominance relations are shown to be 140% more efficient than the most recent one in the literature. As the level of uncertainty increases, the newly proposed dominance relation performs better, which is another strength of the newly proposed dominance relation. Moreover, we also propose constructive heuristics and show that the best of the newly proposed heuristics is 95% more efficient than the existing one in the literature under the same CPU time.

As a result of the rapidly increasing distribution network, the toxic gases emitted by the vehicles to the environment have also increased, thus posing a threat to health. This study deals with the problem of determining green vehicle routes aiming to minimize CO2 emissions to meet customers' demand in a supermarket chain that distributes fresh and dried products. A new method based on clustering algorithms and Hopfield Neural Network is proposed to solve the problem. We first divide the large-size green vehicle routing problem into clusters using the K-Means and K-Medoids algorithms, and then the routing problem for each cluster is found using the Hopfield Neural Network, which minimizes CO2 emissions. A real-life example is carried out to illustrate the performance and applicability of the proposed method. The research concludes that the proposed approach produces very encroaching results.

Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are one of the artificial intelligence techniques used in real-world problems and applications encountered in almost all industries such as education, health, chemistry, food, informatics, logistics, transportation. ANN is widely used in many techniques such as optimization, modelling, classification and forecasting, and many empirical studies have been carried out in areas such as planning, inventory management, maintenance, quality control, econometrics, supply chain management and logistics related to ANN. The most important and just as hard stage of ANNs is the learning process. This process is about finding optimal values in the search space for different datasets. In this process, the values generated by training algorithms are used as network parameters and are directly effective in the success of the neural network (NN). In classical training techniques, problems such as local optimum and slow convergence are encountered. Meta-heuristic algorithms for the training of ANNs in the face of this negative situation have been used in many studies as an alternative. In this study, a new hybrid algorithm namely MVOSANN is suggested for the training of ANNs, using Simulated annealing (SA) and Multi-verse optimizer (MVO) algorithms. The suggested MVOSANN algorithm has been experimented on 12 prevalently classification datasets. The productivity of MVOSANN has been compared with 12 well-recognized and current meta-heuristic algorithms. Experimental results show that MVOSANN produces very successful and competitive results.

The aim of this study is to assess and rank Anadolu Sigorta Company's sustainability performance between 2018 and 2022 using the hybrid SWARA-MEREC-COBRA model. The sustainability performance evaluation criteria's importance weights were determined using both subjective and objective methods. The SWARA algorithm was used to determine the weights subjectively based on expert opinion, while the MEREC algorithm was used to determine them objectively. The final importance weights were obtained by combining the results of both methods. When evaluating the sustainability performance of Anadolu Sigorta Company, the most important criterion was total paper consumption, while the criterion with the least impact was the number of female employees. The COBRA ranking algorithm was used to rank the alternatives, and it was determined that the company's best sustainability performance was in 2022, while the worst was in 2018. Different sensitivity analyses were used to test the consistency of the proposed model.

This study investigates how key audit matter (KAM) characteristics influence financial statement understandability and subsequent investor decision making. Using Structural Equation Modeling-Variance Based (SEM-VB) through Partial Least Squares (PLS), the analysis was conducted on a diverse global sample of investors from Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America. The results indicate that KAM accuracy, reliability, audit quality, and financial reporting quality significantly enhance perceived financial statement understandability, which in turn positively impacts investor judgments. The mediating role of understandability is confirmed, emphasizing its crucial influence on investors’ decisions. Additionally, an importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) identified KAM reliability and accuracy as the most critical factors. This study contributes to the theoretical and managerial understanding of audit practices and investor behavior.

The strategic network of any organization plays a significant role in the industry. Therefore, companies must study the factors hindering the construction of this network. Companies need a strategic network of alliances and partnerships to complement each other and constitute a superpower that competitors cannot overcome. This study explores the size of obstacles posed by managerial myopia in weakening the ability of organizations to build their strategic network. Current paper tests the influential relationship between managerial myopia and the ability of organizations to build their strategic network in one of the most important institutions within the oil sector. Results show a negative impact of managerial short-sightedness on an organization's ability to build a successful strategic network that enables it to coexist within an atmosphere of competition. This study recommends that organizations adopt the concept of managerial hyperopia as a valuable tool for organizational success.

This paper recommends a new kind of assembly line rebalancing and worker assignment problem, taking ergonomic risks into account. Assembly line rebalancing problem (ALRBP) occurs when a current line must be rebalanced due to conditions such as changes in demand, production processes, product design, or quality issues. Although there are several research attempts on ALRBP in the relevant literature, only a few studies consider workers as unique individuals. This paper aims to solve the double reassignment problem: tasks to workers and workers to stations, considering ergonomic risk factors. This paper is the first study that comprises worker assignment and ergonomic constraints in ALRBP literature to the best of our knowledge. Objectives of our novel problem are to minimize rebalancing cost, which includes transportation of tasks and workers and minimize stations' ergonomic risk factors. A randomized constructive rule-based heuristic approach is developed to cope with the problem. The proposed solution approach is applied to benchmark data, and obtained results are promising. Moreover, the proposed solution approach is implemented in an automotive parts manufacturing plant.

In transportation, the multi-depot heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem with time windows (MDHFVRPTW) is one of the hard-to-solve real-life problems. In the study, a new node-based MDHFVRPTW has been developed. Unlike other studies in the literature, heterogeneous fleets including both airline and roadway vehicles are used for routing. In the model, real-life data of the airline and roadway are taken into consideration. In particular, important aviation constraints such as the range of the aircraft, landing and take-off cycle (LTO) cost according to the engine type, and the penalty cost are presented in the model. The problem is analysed by using narrow and wide time windows, which is the realization of fast and normal demand. A new hybrid genetic algorithm with variable neighborhood search (HGA-VNS) has been proposed for the solution of the MDHFVRPTW model. In the solution of the model, remarkable results have been obtained with the HGA-VNS algorithm compared to the genetic algorithm and off-the-shelf solvers. Also, the HGA-VNS algorithm has been tested with small and large-scale instances and compared with other studies in the literature. It is thought that the proposed MDHFVRPTW model and the developed HGA-VNS algorithm will bring a different perspective to transportation.

Conveying the products to the customers under optimized circumstances is as crucial for the companies as the production itself. One optimization strategy to consider is transportation with the minimum quantity of vehicles and the selection of courses with the minimum distance between the locations. In other words, it is the examination of the solution to the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), particularly the Capacitated VRP (CVRP), which is a more realistic modelization approach. For businesses that perform distribution to customers frequently, such as management work with the coordination of daily distribution, finishing the distribution on time is of great importance. In big cities with complicated roads and many dropping points, this can be achieved by benefiting from the systematic modeling of the CVRP. In this study, the delivery network investigation for one production facility of the Istanbul People's Bread positioned on the Asian side of Istanbul, Türkiye that distributes three times a day will be the focus of interest. The corresponding Asymmetric CVRP (ACVRP) for the facility network and 215 bread-selling buffets with authentic driving distances will be solved with the Genetic Algorithm (GA), and an optimized transportation network will be presented.

Hybrid flowshop scheduling problem (HFSP) is a mixture of two classical scheduling problems as parallel machine scheduling (PMS) and flowshop scheduling (FS). In the HFSP, a series of jobs are processed respectively in a set of stages that at least one of these stages has more than one parallel machine (identical, uniform or unrelated). HFSP is a widespreadly studied subject in the literature and there are various application areas such as transportation, healthcare management, agricultural activities, cloud computing, and the most common manufacturing. Therefore, it will be useful to present a review study including recent papers and developments related to this problem for researchers. For this aim, in this paper, a systematic literature survey has been conducted with respect to HFSPs by means of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology which enables to realize systematic review and meta-analyses in a specified subject. 172 articles which are published in the 2010-2020 year interval, related to production scheduling and including a mathematical programming model to express scheduling problems have been determined as a result of this methodological review process. These articles have been statistically analyzed according to many features such as year, country, journal, number of stages, type of parallel machines, constraints, objective functions, solution methods, test instances and type of parameters. The results of statistical analyses have been presented through charts so as to provide a visual demonstration to researchers. Furthermore, it has been aimed to answer 14 predetermined research questions by means of analyses realized in the scope of this review study. Consequently, it has revealed the existing literature, recent developments and future research suggestions related to HFSP and therefore it is possible to say that this review paper provides a beneficial road map for researchers studying in this field.
