In this study, the effects of alkaline accelerating admixture and its dosage on cementitious material’s behavior at early ages were evaluated through a series of ultrasound Pulse echo measurements. Thus, those measurements consist on following the evolution of frequency dependent attenuation coefficient during cementitious material age. Four stages can be identified on the attenuation coefficient vs. mortar age graphs, indicating that the development of the attenuation parameter is closely related to the setting and the hardening phenomena. Also, the ultrasound histograms, representing the evolution of the different echoes backscattered by the media of the container, filled with cementitious material’s samples, were characterized in order to assess the attenuative effect of alkaline accelerator and its dosage during the setting and the hardening period. Thus, the combined use of ultrasound P-wave measured density and young modulus parameters results in a comprehensive ultrasound method that gives a more effective picture of the void volume and resistivity of the accelerated cementitious materials. Ultrasound P-waves were generated using a 1 MHz central frequency immersion transducer and mortar samples were prepared with Portland composite cement CPJ 45.

A simple, efficient protocol for one pot synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes from primary alcohols is investigated with N-bromosuccinimde as a catalyst under ultrasound irradiation. Alcohols can be converted into carbonyl compounds by removal of hydrogen in presence of N-bromosuccinimde as an oxidant and can react in situ with indole to give desired bis(indolyl)methanes. In the reported one pot multicomponent condensation reaction N-bromosuccinimde promotes the oxidation of alcohol to aldehyde, facilitating the subsequent condensation with indole to afford bis(indolyl) methanes in good to excellent yields. The inexpensiveness and easy handling are some of important feature of N-bromosuccinimde. The by-product N-succinimide can be easily recovered and recycled to N-bromosuccinimide.

An efficient and simple protocol of B-enaminones and B-enamino esters synthesis using nickel oxide under ultrasound sonication has been developed. Ultrasound sonication triggers the formation of enaminones under the mild reaction conditions. Nickel oxide was found to be efficient, heterogeneous, moisture stable, robust and recyclable catalyst.

Silver indium sulfide (AgInS2) nanoparticles were synthesized by microwave method. These nanopartricles were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, DRS, SEM and TEM techniques. The band gap energy of 1.96 eV was determined by UV-Vis diffuse reflection spectrum (DRS). The photocatalytic activity was studied by photodegradation reaction of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) under visible light irradiation. The influence of initial concentration, initial solution pH on the degradation percentage of 2,4-DCP and also, the kinetics of photodegradation were investigated. The removal efficiency up to 95% proved the superior capability of AgInS2 (AIS) nanoparticles for water purification.

A green and efficient method for the preparation of 5-aryl-4-hydroxy-2-methyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid esters and 6-aryl-3-methylpyridazine-4-carboxylic acid esters via three-component reaction of arylglyoxal hydrates with B-dicarbonyl compounds in the presence of ammonium acetate and hydrazine hydrate using water as solvent under ultrasonic irradiation was reported. The reactions proceeded rapidly and afforded the corresponding pyrroles and pyridazines in good to high yields in very short reaction time.
