Keywords: Predictive Model, Machine Learning, Mental health, Long COVID, COVID-19

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to different health outcomes, including long COVID (LCo) and mental health (MH) disorders, impacting millions globally. To enable early healthcare diagnosis, including the prediction of MH conditions and LCo, various research studies have utilized machine learning (ML) techniques. However, there is still a gap in understanding the mental health of recovered COVID-19 patients with long COVID using ML techniques. This study aims to bridge this gap by developing and evaluating ML models, including support vector machine, multilayer perceptron (MLP), k-nearest neighbor, gradient boosting, voting classifier, and extreme gradient boosting, tailored for mental health and long COVID datasets from recovered COVID-19 patients. Additionally, feature selection methods, e.g., Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) and Extra Trees (ET), and optimized models with hyper-parameter tuning will be employed. Our experiments utilize the dataset of recovered COVID-19 patients. Among these ML models, the MLP with ET-based features achieved the highest accuracy and AUC scores in this dataset, with 1.00 and 0.97 ± 0.02, respectively. The research reveals the high prevalence and risk factors of mental health disorders and long COVID from the dataset. These findings will contribute to personalized healthcare strategies for individuals navigating the complexities of post-COVID-19 recovery, integrating machine learning insights into mental health and long COVID support.

Authors: Zeinab Kamrani, Abdullah Shafiabadi

Keywords: Mental health, Social work study, Socio-economic factors

Abstract:
This paper presents a social work study to investigate the effects of employees’ income and age on their mental health. The study has accomplished among a sample of 150 randomly selected employees who worked for Esfahan steel company located in city of Esfahan, Iran. The study uses a standard questionnaire, which is adopted from Goldberg and Williams (2000) [Goldberg, D., & Williams, P. (2000). General health questionnaire (GHQ). Swindon, Wiltshire, UK: NFER Nelson.]. The results of the implementation of ANOVA test have revealed that while there was a significant and positive relationship between employees’ salary and mental health, there was not any meaningful relationship between employees’ age and mental health.

Keywords: Esfahan Steel Company, General Health, Mental Health, Quality of life

Abstract:
This paper examines the relationship between quality of life and mental health among regular employee who work for Esfahan Steel Company, Iran. The study uses two questionnaires, one for measuring quality of life, which is adopted from Goldberg and Williams (2000) [Goldberg, D., & Williams, P. (2000). General health questionnaire (GHQ). Swindon, Wiltshire, UK: NFER Nelson.]. In addition, the study uses another questionnaire, which is adopted from Juniper et al. (1994) [Juniper, E. F., Guyatt, G. H., Willan, A., & Griffith, L. E. (1994). Determining a minimal important change in a disease-specific quality of life questionnaire. Journal of clinical epidemiology, 47(1), 81-87.]. Using Pearson correlation ratio as well as stepwise regression technique, the study has determined a positive and meaningful relationship between quality of life and mental health care.

Authors: Hassan Ghodrati, Zahra Zargarzadeh

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2013.03.018

Keywords: Crisis Management, Mental Health, Organizational Agility, Strategic Readiness

Abstract:
This study investigates whether enhancing organizational agility and mental health of staff could increase strategic readiness for crises or not. In this study, descriptive statistics is used to present demographic data of the research, and P-Test is employed for analyzing the data. In addition, to examine research hypotheses, correlation coefficients and descriptive statistics are implemented. Finally, to rank the variables and indicators of the research, Friedman test and for comparison of indicators and components of the research, nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test are used. The proposed study designs a questionnaire and The questionnaire and distributes it among some nurses in obstetrics and anesthesiology department and among supervisors. Cronbach & apos; s alpha is also employed for determining the reliability in this study. The results indicate that working conditions as well as employees’ mental health are in good conditions, the employees with higher levels of mental health have higher readiness to deal with potential crises, and the relationship between agility of hospitals and their strategic readiness for dealing with crises is confirmed.

Abstract:
This study examines the relationship between career interests, aptitude, mental health, happiness and academic performance among first-year high school students. The proposed study performs a descriptive research on 370 first-year students using multistage random cluster survey to collect the necessary data. The proposed study also uses strong career interest questionnaires, Oxford Happiness test, Health and Aptitude test scores and the semester GPA scores. Research data are analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise regression procedures. The results indicate that there is a significant and direct relationship between realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, convention and academic performance; but there is an unusual and significant inverse relation between realistic and academic performance. In addition, there is a direct relationship between mental health and academic performance, and between aptitude, happiness and academic performance. Generally, there is a relationship between career interest, aptitude, mental health, happiness and academic performance; and the greatest impact on academic performance is related to career interest, particularly investigative interest.

Abstract:
The purpose of present research is to study the relationship between job performance and employees’ mental health in one of Iranian natural gas refinery located in city of Jam, Iran. Data collection was conducted based on two major characteristics of job performance and mental health based on questionnaire methods among 42 people. The methodology is descriptive and correlation – type and to analyze the data, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, variances equality tests as well as t-student were utilized. The findings show that there was a significant relationship between employees’ job performance and mental health and any increase in mental health aspects promotes job performance proportionally. In the meantime, there was no significant relationship between employees’ job performance and their gender and there was no significant difference on mental health status between male and female staff. Based on the results, one can conclude that low mental health level among employees can reduce their performance. Managers should use proper methods to decrease the negative consequences resulted from the lack of mental health in workplaces.
