Keywords: Academic performance, Academic attainment, Scholastic achievement, GPA

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the impact of the family factors on scholastic achievements of students in high schools and universities in Vietnam. The primary data is collected from the 538 students through an online questionnaire. We apply one empirical model with the support of SPSS and STATA to test the family determinants of academic attainments-GPA. We find that there are three factors which impact on GPA of these: Age gap, Income of the families, Negative reactions of parents to their child’s low-performed results in academic performance. The research results show that all three factors can explain for 8% with the changes in GPA of learners. While the age gap between parents and their children has minor positive effects on academic performances, family income is significantly and positively correlated to GPA. This is the reason why students from opulent families often perform better than those of more meager families.

Keywords: Regression, Investigate, Factors, Affected, GPA

Abstract:
This paper aimed to examine the determinants affecting students’ Grade Point Average (GPA) at the colleges of science in Prince Sattam Bin Abdul-Aziz University (PSAU). The study applied two approaches of Ordinary Least Square Method (OLS) and Quantile Regression (QR) to investigate the relationship between GPA and different factors; including secondary school rate, achievement test, gender, and department. The data were collected from the Deanship of Admissions and Registration for the academic year (2018) at PSAU. The sample size included (175) students selected from four departments. The data were analyzed using SAS and SPSS programs. The important results are: secondary school rate, achievement test, and gender were revealed to be variables that significantly impact GPA at all quantile levels. At 0.95 quantile the variable department has a significant effect on GPA. The OLS method revealed the significant effect of all four variables secondary school rate, achievement test, department, and gender on GPA. The study recommended that policy makers in higher education should think to add a new criterion for admission according to the privacy of every college or university.

Keywords: Students’ Academic performance, COVID-19 pandemic, Face-to-face learning, Online learning, SGPA, GPA

Abstract:
The main purpose of this study was to investigate students’ academic performance (SAP) before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic in face-to-face (F2F) and online learning (OL) instructions. The study also attempted to determine the impact of gender and academic major on students’ academic performance. For the results of semester grade point average (SGPA), the findings of the study showed better SAP in F2F learning as compared to OL learning, while the results of grade point average (GPA) indicated better SAP in OL learning than in F2F learning. The findings supported the stated hypotheses by indicating the positive impact of gender and academic major on SAP in F2F and OL learning, before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The regression analysis revealed that the demographic variables can predict up to 18% variations in the student’s academic performance. These findings offer valuable insights for practical strategies to improve SAP in F2F and OL learning.
