Keywords: Supply Chain Risk, Information Security, E-Supply Chain, Distribution Industry in the UAE

Abstract:
The effect of information security on the e-supply chain attracted attention to investigate its relationship with the mediating role of supply chain risk in the logistics and distribution industry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The proposed research explored the mediating effect of supply chain risk in the logistics and distribution industry, providing unique insights for future research, literature, and targeted sectors. A descriptive, causal and analytical design with quantitative research technique was applied to the proposed research model. A sample of 301 respondents from the managerial departments of 176 logistics and distribution companies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi was used to assess the research variables. The findings revealed that the impact of information systems was positively associated with the e-supply chain, while the indirect impact of supply chain risk significantly positively impacted the e-supply chain. The research is limited to assessing the supply chain risk as an intermediary. For future research, exploring the SC risk prevention strategies' impact on the E-supply chain is recommended. Research findings are anticipated to assist communities of practice in making better information security decisions in the context of e-supply chain by clearly implementing information security policies internally and externally to enhance e-supply chain performance and SC risk management.

Keywords: Risk issues, Risk management, e-supply chain, Exploratory factor analysis, Confirmatory factor analysis, Indian industries

Abstract:
Management towards control of risk issues appeared as an important area in E-supply chain for researchers in the present fast growing market. Extensive research has been accomplished in this area, but still there are several risks and uncertainties. The present research aims to identify and consolidate various e-supply risk factors for developing a constructive measurement model. The study also assesses the influence of risk factors over e-supply chain operation in Indian mechanical industries. Thus, after a thorough research and detailed discussion, 38 Risks factors are identified through literature to prepare the questionnaire. A questionnaire based survey is carried out for collecting the primary data from 148 experts of mechanical manufacturing industries located in the national capital region of India. The research methodology is combined with descriptive statistics and factor analysis. SPSS 21 software tools is used for investigating the reliability and Amos Graphics 21 software is used for the fitment validation of the theoretical construct. The results suggest that all risk issues create significant negative influence e-supply chain process. The results also show negative effects of risks over e-supply chain performance. The current research outcome develops a stochastic model based on the e-supply chain risk factors used for reducing risks in e-supply chain operation.

Development of decision support system for e-supplier selection in Indian mechanical manufacturing industry using distance based approximation Pages 295-308 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Alok Kumar, Ramesh Kumar Garg, Dixit Garg

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2018.12.001

Keywords: e-supplier, Supplier selection, e-supply chain, Distance based approximation (DBA), Manufacturing sector, Indian industries

Abstract:
This paper proposes a framework to develop a deterministic model for the valuation, selection and grading (ranking) of e-suppliers by using Modified Distance Based Approach (MDBA), which has not been used earlier in e-supplier selection. The e-supplier selection system performs a major part for the successful running of any supply chain. Thus, for effective running of any supply chain, it is necessary to build a system for the selection of e-supplier. Building such a decision support system software is important for the development of any decision support system efficiently with reduced cost, time and effort. The current research is based on 8 criteria and 52 sub-criteria by giving equal weightage to all of them. In this study, the major criteria are disintegrated into small sub-criteria. To validate the results obtained through the proposed distance based approximation method, the results are compared with other methodologies. Finally, with the illustration of the example problem, the applicability of the developed model is described.
