Authors: M. Karthik Ram, S. Selvabaskar, K. Rajarathi, R. Guhan

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2023.2.001

Keywords: Unorganized retailers, Mobile applications, Behavioural intention, Technology Adoption Model, Diffusion of Innovation, TOE theory

Abstract:
In this paper, the authors proposed a new framework for Mobile application adoption by unorganized retailers. Unorganized retail is a renowned retail business in India. Unorganized retail is a so-called low-cost retail format where some of the retail stores are Kirana store, Grocery store, provisional store, ready to eat store, mom & pop store, peddlers, Hawkers, and stationery store. Retailers face stiff competition from omnichannel, multi-channel retailers, and e-tailers. To counter this competition, unorganized retailers adopt some Mobile applications which are relevant to their business. While some of the Mobile Applications are WhatsApp business, Facebook page, telegram, blogs, google maps Mandi app, Udaan app, Katha book app, OK credit, Dukan app, and just dial. This paper explains a deep discussion about unorganized retailers, unorganized retailers' contributions to the economy, the Digital India program, and Mobile Application. A new comprehensive framework has been proposed for mobile application adoption by the unorganized retailer after getting insights from theories like Technology Adoption Model (TAM), Extension of Technology Adoption Model (TAM), Technology, Organization and Environment (TOE), and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI). In this research, the author segments three major clusters which influence mobile technology adoption. The three major clusters are Technology, Organization, and Environment. These clusters had 10 constructs that influence mobile technology adoption. This research elaborately discussed the drivers of technology adoption in an unorganized retail context. We close by concluding that mobile application adoption by the unorganized retailer and reshaped the unorganized retail.

Unveiling the impact of CEO characteristics and technological factors on management accounting information system use Pages 2525-2538 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Ishraq Bataineh, Abdalwali Lutfi, Hamza Alqudah, Thamir Al Barrak

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2024.5.017

Keywords: AIS, CEO characteristics, Diffusion of innovation, Information technology, Technological factors, Jordanian companies

Abstract:
The objective of the current study is to explore how certain attributes of chief executive officers (CEOs), such as their innovativeness, knowledge of information systems (IS), and trust in technology and technological factors (Compatibility, relative advantage, and complexity) on the utilization of accounting information systems (AIS) in companies across various industries in Jordan. The research gathered data through a structured questionnaire, which included a 7-point scale. The respondents were CEO/owner of small, medium, and large enterprises (SMEs) in Jordan. A total of 315 valid responses were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The findings indicated a significant and positive correlation between complexity, compatibility, CEOs trust in technologies, CEOs information system (IS) knowledge, and the utilization of AIS. However, CEO innovativeness and relative advantage have an insignificant impact on AIS use. The present study is the first to examine CEO characteristics in the AIS context. The practical and theoretical implications derived from the empirical findings of this study offer valuable insights for managers and practitioners. These insights aim to enhance their understanding of the fundamental factors crucial for the successful implementation of AIS in companies, ultimately contributing to improved firm performance.

Authors: Mohammad AL Zoubi, Yasmeen ALfaris, Baha Fraihat, Ali Otoum, Maher Nawasreh, Ashraf ALfandi

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2023.3.003

Keywords: Business intelligence, SMEs, Diffusion of innovation, Developing country, Project management

Abstract:
This study's objective is to analyze the factors that influence whether or not small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) use business intelligence. Based on an exhaustive assessment of the literature, the study offers a model dependent on the diffusion of innovation and augmented with factors expressing the idea of project management maturity (PMM). The research applied structural equation modelling (SEM) to examine data obtained from 112 Jordanian company workers. The findings showed that the adoption of business intelligence has a positive and significant relationship to the complexity, compatibility, and relative advantage of business intelligence; the level of project management maturity has a significant effect on the level of relative advantage, compatibility, and complexity; and the level of project management maturity is significantly associated with the change management and knowledge sharing practices in SMEs. However, we contend that further study has to be carried out, particularly in the context of developing nations, in order to get a comprehensive understanding of how different SMEs may effectively deploy and make use of business intelligence.

Factors affecting the adoption of e-wallets to enter cashless society: An integration approach Pages 1849-1860 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Nor Hazlina Hashim, Tak Jie Chan, Panfeng Li

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.7.007

Keywords: E-wallets, Use behavior, Diffusion of innovation, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2, Personal innovativeness, Self-efficacy

Abstract:
The Malaysian government actively encourages the development of e-wallets in Malaysia and set a goal to enter a cashless society by 2050. However, the mobile technology that has swept the world does not seem to be developing smoothly in Malaysia. The objective of the study is to investigate the determinants that impact the user behavior of Malaysians in adopting e-wallets and proposes integration theoretical models, namely UTAUT 2, Diffusion of Innovation, and self-efficacy to support the study. Data were collected among 253 Malaysian e-wallet users in the Federal State of Kuala Lumpur. The survey (online questionnaire) was distributed to respondents via QR codes and links as data collection. The PLS-SEM was utilized to test hypothetical relationships. The findings of the study demonstrated that compatibility, hedonic motivation, habits, and self-efficacy have a significant relationship with the user behavior of e-wallets. Self-efficacy was found to be the strongest predictor in influencing the use behavior of e-wallets. Conclusion, implications, and suggestions for future study were also discussed.

Digitalization in public sector in emerging economies: The enablers and inhibitors influence electronic customs in Vietnam Pages 921-934 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Hang Thanh Nguyen, David B. Grant, Christopher Bovis, Thuy Thi Le Nguyen, Yen Thi Hai Mac

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2022.2.004

Keywords: Diffusion of Innovation, Culture, E-customs, Firm performance, Vietnam

Abstract:
This paper investigates how customs officials perceive the implementation of e-customs will influence business performance in Vietnam, a developing country with a lower technological environment. A survey of customs officials was conducted, and data were analyzed by structural equation modelling. The outcomes discover two significant enablers related to relative advantages and the new exploring factor Culture while Finance & Human Resources and Legislation as the inhibitors. Additionally, the study also emphasized that e-customs implementation had a positive influence on firm performance in Vietnam. In addition, the study provides different viewpoints of cultural dimensions in case study of applying e-customs in Vietnam in comparison with previous studies. Culture with attributions related to uncertain acceptance and individualism encourage innovation in other literature reviews, however, the study indicates uncertainty avoidance and collectivism as Vietnam also promotes e-customs deployment. Vietnam with high power distance and short-term orientation became old themes. This emerging country switched to low distance and long-term orientation in terms of e-customs innovation. In contrast to previous studies related to constraints from technology in emerging economies, technological factors are not an obstacle for Vietnam. Furthermore, previous literature reviews inflected legislation and regulations of government as one of the limitations that should be examined in further and this research carried-out this investigation in one of emerging economies. The results of the paper support policy makers who can have essential solutions to enhance e-customs implementation as well as enterprises’ managers set-up strategy to adapt with the modernization environment.
