Knowledge management processes and innovation performance: The moderating effect of employees’ knowledge hoarding Pages 1463-1472 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2019.12.021

🔑 Keywords: Knowledge management, Innovation performance, Knowledge hoarding

Abstract:
The positive impact of knowledge management on innovation performance is no longer a mystery. However, the moderating role of knowledge hoarding remains undisclosed. There-fore, the present study aims to explore the moderating role of knowledge hoarding on the ef-fect of knowledge management on innovation performance. On the ground of its design as a descriptive research, a questionnaire-based survey was developed, validated, and administered to a sample of 314 managers chosen from commerce and service organizations. Using multiple regression analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM), the results indicated that knowledge management processes (knowledge acquisition, dissemination, storage, sharing and application) exerted significant effects on innovation performance. Moreover, Knowledge hoarding exerted a significant negative effect on innovation performance. However, the re-sults indicate that knowledge hoarding did not moderate the effect of knowledge management processes on innovation performance. This finding can be explained by the fact that, despite the negative impact of knowledge hoarding on innovation performance, this effect did not af-fect the relationship between knowledge management processes and innovation performance and this may be due to the nature of knowledge hoarded by employees in terms of relevance and scarcity. In the light of these findings, the study recommends that it is necessary to determine whether employees hoard knowledge, and distinguish how important this knowledge is for innovation performance. In fact, this is the contribution of the current study to knowledge management literature.

Digital transformation in SMEs: Assessing the impact of big data capabilities on project success, business continuity, and sustainability Pages 2701-2712 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Amani Abu Rumman, Mohammad A.K. Alsmairat, Rawan Alshawabkeh, Lina Al-Abbadi

doi 10.5267/j.ijdns.2024.4.009

🔑 Keywords: Big data capabilities, Digital transformation, Project success, Business continuity, Sustainability

Abstract:
During the innovation era and in the highly competitive environment, big data capabilities (BDCs) play a pivotal role in shaping competitive dynamics; the influence of these technologies on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the retail sector is critically significant. This study is specifically focused on the retail industry, with a particular emphasis on how BDCs impact the project success, business continuity, and sustainability of SMEs within this industry. Our theoretical model was tested using a survey of 300 operations managers working in SMEs in the retail sector in the Middle East. PLS-SEM was conducted to analyze our collected data. Our results reveal that BDCs enhance project success and promote sustainability practices. The findings also reveal that BDCs have no impact on business continuity. By shedding light on the nuanced impact of BDCs on SMEs in the retail sector, this study contributes valuable insights to the existing literature, offering a deeper understanding of how these technological capabilities can drive success and sustainability in a highly competitive market environment.

The impact of strategic thinking on organizational excellence: An empirical examination in Jordan’s ICT sector Pages 1169-1178 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Lina Al-Abbadi, Mohammad A.K Alsmairat, Rawan Alshawabkeh, Amani Abu Rumman

doi 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.11.017

🔑 Keywords: Strategic Thinking, Organizational Excellence, Jordan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Abstract:
This study empirically examines the impact of strategic thinking on organizational excellence in Jordan's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Adopting a quantitative methodology, this study surveys a sample of 270 individuals drawn from various ICT companies across Jordan. Utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) for analysis, the study investigates the effects of different dimensions of strategic thinking on organizational excellence. The findings reveal that among the dimensions studied, dynamic and systematic thinking significantly and positively influenced organizational excellence. These results underscore the critical role that adaptive and methodical approaches to strategic thought play in enhancing organizational performance and competitiveness within the fast-paced ICT sector. The study not only contributes to the theoretical understanding of strategic thinking's relevance in organizational success but also offers practical insights for ICT companies aiming to achieve excellence in a dynamic business environment.
