Authors: Alireza Shirvani, Mashallah Valikhani Dehaghani, Seyed Hassan Mossavi

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2013.05.007

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Change management, Gas distribution, Kotter model

Abstract:
This paper considers different approaches for establishment of change management in governmental agencies. The proposed model of this paper uses Kotterโ€™s 8-step method in an empirical investigation for a gas distribution firm located in province of Esfahan, Iran. The results of this study reveal that the organization was successful to create sense of urgency, form a powerful coalition, create a vision for change, communicate the vision, create short-term wins and build on the change. However, the organization was not successful on removing obstacles and changes in corporate culture. In addition, the sixth step, create short -term wins, receives the highest rate of success while removing the obstacles maintains the minimum rate of success. Finally, the survey demonstrates that gender and educational background do not have any impact on change management but age, job experience as well as job position influences change management, significantly.

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Enterprise value, Privatization, Tehran Stock Exchange

Abstract:
In this paper, we present an empirical investigation to measure the effects of privatization on some selected firms listed on Tehran Stock Exchange. The proposed study of this paper selects eleven relatively big sized Iranian firms whose structures were privatized prior year 2011. The main hypothesis of this survey studies whether there is a meaningful relationship between ownership structure and enterprise value of privatized firms. We collect the necessary information before and after privatization process completed and using a regression model examined the main hypothesis as well as five sub-hypotheses. The results of the survey indicate that the number of major shareholders has been reduced after privatization process accomplished, the number of shares had no impact on firmsโ€™ values. In addition, non-board membersโ€™ duty had not impact on firmsโ€™ value before and after privatization process, institutional investors did not play important role before and after privatization process, and separations played important role on firmsโ€™ value before and after privatization occurred.
