Integration of balanced scorecard and data envelopment analysis to measure and improve business performance Pages 1321-1340 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Jarmila Horváthová, Martina Mokrišová, Mária Vrábliková

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2019.5.017

Keywords: Balanced Scorecard, Data Envelopment Analysis, Financial perspective, Goal, Key performance indicators, Performance

Abstract:
The paper addressed the following research problem: Is the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) a suitable method of measuring and improving the performance of a company? Is it possible to calculate the goal values of the key performance indicators based on the BSC (Balanced Scorecard) principles using the DEA results? Is it possible to link the results of the BSC method and the DEA method to increase business performance? The aim of the research was to find out which financial indicators of the company are key performance indicators. We selected the key performance indicators using the BSC principles. These indicators were then applied as inputs/outputs in the DEA model. The partial aim was also to propose goal values for selected key performance indicators. The analysis was carried out on a sample of companies operating in the sphere of heat industry in Slovakia. The sample was created to represent businesses that have problems with their performance as well as those who do not have any problem. When choosing the sample, we made use of Altman's Z-score. We then calculated the values of the selected financial indicators. The correlation matrix and the BSC principles were applied to select key performance indicators. We also made use of the DEA method. This nonparametric method can be applied in the field of business efficiency, financial health, and performance evaluation. The DEA CCR input-oriented model was designed. We see the application of the DEA method in assessing financial health and performance of a company as well as the DEA CCR model itself as the main contributions of this paper. The research also paid attention to the calculation of the goal values of key performance indicators that enter the BSC as goal values. Using these goal values, a company may become more stable and therefore competitive. This research confirmed the possibility of integrating BSC and DEA.

Abstract:
The research investigated the relationship among Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), risk assessment capabilities and value creation in service sector firms. The study also sought to examine the effect of KPI`s components on risk assessment & value capitalisation, and how they either facilitate or hinder implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement processes. In this context, a quantitative cross-sectional research design was applied using an online survey of shared middle and senior managers in service organizations. After filtering, the final version of segmented sample included a total of 215 respondents engaged in different service businesses. The analysis was determined using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results showed that all components of KPIs have significant positive relationships with risk assessment and value improvement outcomes First, performance drivers were found to be the most significant predictor of both constructs. As such, the results show that both risk assessment and value improvement had a positive effect on implementation/monitoring processes which in turn enabled continuous improvements. Performance measurement, risk management and value creation in service organizations: A performance at-risk-based conceptual model. The results have numerous managerial, practical and policy implications for the service sector. This drives home the necessity of creating integrated KPI systems that include risk assessment and value improvement factors. In building on existing theory, the study is of substantial interest in that it provides empirical evidence for these organizational mechanisms related to service organizations. Resilient Organizations in the Service Sector picture of Resilience across Performance Management with KPIs, Risk Assessment and Value Creation strategies offering a comprehensive foundation for sustainable organizational success.

Authors: Ahmad Al Adwan, Husam Kokash, Raed Al Adwan, Amira Khattak

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.3.015

Keywords: Artificial intelligence, Social media marketing, Social identification, Media, Key performance indicators, Mail, Search engines, Consumers, Mobile marketing

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to present a digital marketing data analytics model to analyze campaign efficacy and inform strategy based on website performance, social media metrics, email marketing performance, customer data for targeting and personalization, and customer journey analysis. This model defines campaign success criteria for strategy. A statistical analysis approach was used to analyze the data for the research. Data was gathered through a survey. This study analyzes demographic parameters descriptively using the structural equation model (SEM). From comprehensive surveys, 125 digital media and 115 online shop subjects responded. Sampled were 240 people. According to the findings, social media data, customer journey research, successful advertising, and informed approaches are highly correlated. Compared to the previous study, website performance evaluation does not match the marketing plan's success. The model's results can be used by any company that communicates with clients online.

Analyzing key performance indicators of e-commerce using balanced scorecard Pages 127-140 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Seyed Kamal Chaharsooghi, Nasrin Beigzadeh, Arman Sajedinejad

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2015.12.008

Keywords: Balanced scorecard, E-commerce, Iranian business web sites, Key performance indicators, Performance evaluation

Abstract:
E-commerce as one of the most significant aspects of innovation in business processes is what takes place in companies across the world. The gap between information and communications technology and e-business application is called the digital divide. It is necessary to understand the reasons for the failure of commercial sites. Here the objective is to assess the commercial sites of Iran. Different methods are adopted to evaluate sites and electronic stores. The balanced scorecard is a rarely adopted method of concern to evaluate these sites in Iran. The survey methodology and Delphi technique are applied in building the research tools, which led to the development of a questionnaire. Through applying the BSC approach, the numbers of indicators in each of the four perspectives of BSC were identified. The DEMATEL technique is applied to determine the importance of different perspectives and to identify the causal correlations among the four perspectives. The results generated by SMART PLS graphics, the Structural Equation Modeling software, confirm the adequacy of this proposed model for websites. The findings here indicate that the growth and learning perspective have the greatest impact on the other perspectives while the other perspectives mostly affect the financial perspective.

Strategies to Counter Supply Chain Disruptions for FMCG Brands during a Pandemic Pages 9-16 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Nabila Khayer, Joydev Karmakar Rahul, Souvik Chakraborty

DOI: 10.5267/j.jfs.2022.8.002

Keywords: Horizontal Collaboration, Artificial Intelligence, Predictive Maintenance, Smart Warehouse Management, Key Performance Indicators

Abstract:
The FMCG sector in developing nations is still not prepared to withstand any disruption brought on by the worldwide pandemic. In order to adapt to the new normal, businesses must make both micro and broad changes to their supply chain strategy. The goal of this research is to create plans to minimize any disruptions caused by upcoming pandemics. To restore the broken supply chain, a number of new implications and adjustments to the current attributes were proposed in the areas of sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution. Finding the fundamental drivers that are frequently impacted by the disturbance is part of the technique. The afflicted locations were the focus of the models' development. The ideas work as preventative measures intended to thwart the disturbance when and if it happens. In order to assess the model's viability, the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) value was ultimately retrieved with the aid of 25 industry experts. These suggestions may result in improved transparency, real-time monitoring, cost effectiveness, and responsiveness, among other benefits. Our analysis indicates that the KPI scores for procurement, production, and distribution are 92.86%, 82.14%, and 87.50%, respectively. The models' total viability is 87.50%. The most recent Covid-19 pandemic has provided us with a vivid illustration of what could go wrong in such circumstances. In both pandemic and non-pandemic conditions, the adaptation of stated suggestions at the aspect of sourcing, production, and distribution might result in a significant shift to organization-wide activities.
