Abstract:
Garment sector is one of the industrial sectors in Ethiopia. In this sector the final products are always with defect(s) which reduces attraction from customers and economic benefit from the business. With this intention, quality enhancement of shirt products through defect(s) rejection reduction using SQC tools was a vital task of this research. The study applied Pareto Analysis and Cause-and-effect diagrams for detailed examination of top defects. From the Pareto-analysis six top defect types; cuff assembly seam slip out, sleeve hemming, button slip out, side seam puckering, button missed, and placket seam out have been identified. These defects contributed 81.68% of all defects happening in the case company. Then root-cause analyses for these top defect types have been done and solutions have been suggested to overcome causes to reduce rejected shirts. Finally, the suggested solutions have been practically implemented through the organized implementation team from different departments of the case company including the researcher. This has given remarkable results of almost 67.3%, 2222 shirts, of export rejected shirts have been saved. These saved shirts have been exported additionally to the international market in line with the defect free products of that month and increased the income of the case company by 444,400 ETB to 555,500 ETB per month.

Abstract:
An increase in investment is required to support the growth and expansion of the industrial sector in a given country. But the planning and ranking of investments must consider financial resource constraints, high investment risk, the frequency of needs and goals, as well as an unfavorable pattern of investments in the production sectors and industries. To ascertain ranking and economic viability for the investment sectors, this study used optimization techniques called TOPSIS, VIKOR, and COPRAS. From 2020 to 2022, this study was conducted for the Debre Berhan City Administration. The study's findings include investment criteria and outline the importance of certain investment areas. The final findings of this study show that, according to TOPSIS, VIKOR, and COPRAS, the current industrial investment pattern is not ideal investment priorities need to be changed. As a result of the above three optimization techniques; spinning, weaving, and finishing of textile fabricโ€™s sector have been ranked first.

Abstract:
The ready-to-wear sector is expanding quickly and already accounts for a significant contribution to Ethiopia's export revenue. Due to its lower labor and investment costs, availability of resources, government assistance, etc. than other sectors, this industry attracts young entrepreneurs from around the nation as investment destinations. However, while investing in the leather industry, there are frequently many more aspects to consider. Again, there are numerous leather investment opportunities in the leathers sector, including handbags, jackets, belts, shoes, gloves, etc. Different sorts of leather items necessitate various levels of capital investment, operator skill sets, and resource requirements, among many other things. Again, based on their capacity for managing businesses, available capital, business location, and other factors, not all investors are in the same position. To assist investors in making decisions on the opening of a new leather industry, this paper presents a FAHP methodology for choosing the best leather item among various possibilities in a fuzzy environment. The methods enable the decision-maker to incorporate language expressions of expert judgment into the evaluation process. Using the suggested process, the ideal leather item is chosen for the launching of a leather industry in Ethiopia under the current circumstances.
