Social media and eating habits: A study on the relationship between digital consumption and eating behavior Pages 981-992 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Madelyn Apardo Quispe, Roberto Líder Churampi-Cangalaya, Janneth Del Pilar Nuñez Velasquez, María del Pilar Cerron Andamayo, Zenon Manuel Lopez Robles, Enrique Mendoza Caballero, Linda Loren Navarro-Garcia, Francisca Huaman Perez

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2025.7.001

Keywords: Social media, Eating habits, Digital consumption, Social interaction, Ultra-processed foods

Abstract:
Social media plays a fundamental role in shaping eating habits, especially among young people, since their use through digital platforms has transformed the way they access information about nutrition, recipes, diets, and healthy lifestyles. Constant exposure to visual content and messages related to food directly influences daily decisions about what, how, and when to eat. The study aimed to establish the relationship of social media with eating habits in university students from a private university in the city of Huancayo, located in the Junín region of Peru. The research was basic under a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional section, the population was made up of 311 university students enrolled in the 2025-I academic period. The results were processed through structural equations using the Jamovi program. These results indicate a high degree of relationship between the study variables, given that the Spearman Rho correlation coefficient was 0.832 and 0.000 as the significance level, demonstrating a strong, positive relationship. The study concluded that there was a strong, significant relationship between the dimensions of the social media use variable (network use, platform type, social interaction, and personal and social impact) and eating habits.

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2025.8.002

Keywords: Competition, Usability, Digital wallets, E-commerce, Effectiveness, Satisfaction, Efficiency

Abstract:
This study explores how the usability of digital wallets affects the growth of e-commerce in poultry shops in the Huancayo district of Peru. The general hypothesis states that the usability of digital wallets significantly impacts the growth of e-commerce in this sector. The methodology used combines the general scientific method with the specific hypothetical-deductive method. A non-experimental and cross-sectional design is used. The research is explanatory in nature, seeking to establish causal relationships between variables. To collect data, a survey was conducted on a probability sample of 385 customers in 112 poultry shops in Huancayo that use digital wallets. The sampling technique was simple random, and data were collected using an attitude scale designed to measure user attitudes and opinions. Results: The usability of digital wallets positively impacts e-commerce, with a correlation coefficient of 0.76 (p < 0.01), indicating a strong and significant relationship. The effectiveness of digital wallets in e-commerce growth is evidenced by a regression coefficient of 0.68 (p < 0.01), suggesting a significant effect on online sales. The efficiency of digital wallets shows a coefficient of 0.62 (p < 0.05), indicating a notable improvement in transaction time and payment accuracy. Customer satisfaction with digital wallets has a coefficient of 0.74 (p < 0.01), reflecting an overall positive experience with these payment tools.

Keywords: Digital competence, Teaching performance, Virtual environment, Higher education

Abstract:
The rapid progress of TICs has generated different ways to modify and transfer information, which implies the generation of new forms of knowledge. The objective of this study is to establish the relationship between digital competencies and university teaching performance in public higher education in Huancayo. The study is of a basic type with a quantitative approach and correlational level, developed with the partition as a sample of 272 teachers and 387 students who develop teaching-learning activities at the UNCP. The data were analyzed and modeled through structural equations based on PLS. The research arrived at the following results: a value of 0.890 in Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient and a significance level of .000, which shows that there is a high positive relationship between the study variables; likewise, the hypothesis is accepted. general which considers that there is a significant relationship between digital competencies and teaching performance in the classroom.

Keywords: Academic burnout, Technoestress, Technological anxiety, Maslach Student - Survey, emotional exhaustion, Cynicism, Academic effectiveness

Abstract:
Pandemic moments have generated mental and emotional problems in students at all levels. These have been affected by the format of virtual classes, the mandatory confinement and the little physical relationship due to the existing restrictions, generating academic burnout and anxiety in university students. In this context, the objective was to know the existing relationship between burnout and anxiety in students of the FIS-UNCP, the 15-question Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Questionnaire (MBI-SS) was used with the dimensions: Emotional Exhaustion, Cynicism and Loss of Academic Efficacy and 5 questions to know the level of technological anxiety or technostress, with a population of 328 university students of 10 semesters, through the questionnaire in Office Forms. The research design was non-experimental, transectional, with a qualitative-quantitative approach and descriptive-explanatory levels. The descriptive data analysis was made based on the scale, allowing the identification of students with burnout and the structural equation modeling facilitated the establishment of the relationship between the variables. The study showed that 26 students (7.93%) suffer from academic burnout. At the same time, it has been demonstrated that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional exhaustion and lack of academic efficacy, with technological anxiety with path values of 0.701 and 0.345 respectively, the p-values allowed demonstrating hypotheses 1 and 3 formulated. At the level of the structural model, it allows anticipating future results, since the coefficient of determination (R2) calculated was 0.838.
