Authors: Minaldi Loeis, Musa Hubeis, Arif Imam Suroso, Sukiswo Dirdjosuparto

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2022.10.003

Keywords: Video game, Higher education, Curriculum design, Creative industry, Indonesia

Abstract:
The Indonesian creative economy has been on the rise since 2015 when it has started being measured and prioritized by the government. Its contribution towards the Indonesian GDP has risen significantly as well. A small part of that creative sector is the video game industry and market. The video game global market will be worth USD 200 Billion in 2023. Indonesia currently is ranked 16th in terms of market size. Although having an enormous market opportunity, local video game producers only contribute 1%. Growth opportunities exist, however local game studios are facing the difficulty of recruiting quality game developers. Higher education institutions need to produce graduates having the knowledge, competences, and skills relevant for their work. This study is done to identify and prioritize attributes for the design of a university level program in game development that ensures employability in the sector. A qualitative thematic analysis is done in identifying the important factors for an academic program, followed by an analytical hierarchical process in determining the factors. Result of the study shows that a curriculum with internships in game studios, ensuring students are knowledgeable on the business models & video game market, having practitioners teach in the program, and creating a community of practice in the university is essential in producing quality graduates.

Abstract:
A pine tree, namely Pinus merkusii is an indigenous species from Indonesia which grows extensively in the Island of Java, Sumatera, and Sulawesi. This plant produces both timber and non-timber forest products (TFP and NTFP). Resin or oleum pine resin, as the main NTFP of Pinus merkusii, becomes the raw material for the gum rosin and turpentine oil industry. Globally, Indonesia is ranked 3rd as a producer of pine products after China and Brazil, in which Perhutani as a State Owned Forestry Enterprise plays a major role in this industry. On average, Perhutani manufactures 65,000 tons of gum rosin and 14,000 turpentine oil per year. Entire volume of both pine products is produced by nine factories with various maximum capacities. Therefore, this research aims to measure efficiency and/or inefficiency score of each factory using data envelopment analysis (DEA) method, which is then complemented by a single bootstrap technique with 2.000 iterations to eliminate bias scores. Cost of raw material, labour, energy, and general affairs are employed as input variables, while the output variables are total revenue and production volume. As result, 27.3% inefficiency (efficiency score = 72.7%) is generally found in all Perhutani’s pine chemical factories. To resolve this inefficiency issue, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) pairwise comparison questionnaire is distributed to 13 expert respondents to determine prioritized operational capability to focus on in optimizing efficiency of production performance. Dimensions of Cost, Quality, Flexibility, Innovation, and Sustainability are selected to construct the AHP questionnaires.

Authors: Arif Imam Suroso, Hansen Tandra, Yusman Syaukat, Mukhamad Najib

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2021.4.001

Keywords: Decision Support System, Palm Oil, Risk, Stocks, Sustainable Certification

Abstract:
The palm oil industry has a strategic role in economic development in Indonesia, especially in alleviating poverty and creating other businesses that can support the industry. Operational activities in the palm oil industry are closely related to environmental issues (deforestation, land-use change, and air pollution) and social conflict. The certification program is an effort for the palm oil industry to implement sustainable development. The certified palm oil industry will increase industrial profitability in the long run to increase investor interest in the future. The decision to choose palm oil industry stocks that carry out sustainable practices and generate maximum returns is an exciting issue, but how investors can choose the right stocks and the minimum risk level. This study aims to apply the decision-making model to choose the optimal stock in the palm oil industry, which involves sustainable certification and risk criteria. The method used in this study was the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE) based on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data. Determinants of stock selection decisions from previous research are considered criteria for decision making. Through the PROMETHEE method, a list of the rankings of the oil palm industry shares can be generated. The sustainable certification and risk criteria can be used as a reference for relevant stakeholders such as investors. Further studies need to be developed by adding non-financial criteria in the firm and developing the criteria to differentiate each other.

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2025.1.005

Keywords: Business Analytics, Internet, International Trade, Stochastic Frontier Gravity Model

Abstract:
The Internet is widely recognized as an important technology to accelerate export performance. In the case of energy trade, the issue of export efficiency must be achieved for every exporter country, including Indonesia. The essential input factor to achieve maximum efficiency of trade is to utilize the internet as a technological factor. Therefore, the objective of this study is to examine the impact of the internet on the efficiency of primary energy exports in Indonesia. The study employed the Stochastic Frontier Gravity Model (SFGM) to analyze data from 26 destination countries spanning the period from 2011 to 2020. The result reveals that the condition of internet technology from importers, proxied by fixed broadband subscriptions and secure internet servers has a significant effect on Indonesian export energy performance. Furthermore, the addition of internet technology enhances the Indonesian primary energy export efficiency by comparing the efficiency before and after involvement of the internet. Therefore, the condition of internet technology from importer countries must be considered to maintain the export performance of Indonesia's primary energy to the global market.

The linkage between leadership style of project manager and project performance: Evidence from telecommunication industry Pages 163-182 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Misbahuddin Misbahuddin, Mohamad Syamsul Maarif, Arif Imam Suroso, Yunus Triyonggo

DOI: 10.5267/j.jpm.2024.6.001

Keywords: Agile and Waterfall, Ambidextrous Leadership, Transactional Leadership, Transformational Leadership, Project Performance, Telecommunication Industry

Abstract:
This research analyses how different leadership styles affect project managers in the telecommunications sector, focusing on transactional and transformational leadership's direct effects on project performance. Ambidextrous Leadership's role as a mediator is explored alongside the influence of Project Management approaches (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid) and Project Manager Certifications. Data from 224 Project Managers in 77 Indonesian telecom companies was examined using Structural Equation Modelling Partial Least Square (SEM PLS). The findings indicate that Transactional and Transformational Leadership alone don't directly affect Project Performance, but Ambidextrous Leadership significantly enhances it. Different Project Management Approaches (Waterfall, Hybrid, Agile) amplify the impact of leadership styles. Transactional leadership is strongly linked to the waterfall, while transformational and ambidextrous leadership aligns with the agile and hybrid approach. Project Management Certification strengthens Transactional Leadership's effect on Project Performance, with less impact on Transformational Leadership. The research emphasizes the significance of Ambidextrous Leadership in improving project performance and how project management approaches and certifications can enhance or moderate the influence of leadership styles on telecommunication project management. These findings offer industry practitioners and organizations valuable insights, contributing to leadership, project management, and telecommunications research.
