Engaging employees through spiritual leadership
, Pages: 3527-3536 William D. Hunsaker and Woojin Jeong ![]() |
||
Abstract:
This study explores how spiritual leadership through its effects on individuals’ spiritual well-being enhances employee engagement and augments employees’ organizational commitment. The research conducted a general survey of 207 millennial employees in China, which was tested using partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modeling. The results suggest that employee engagement was significantly influenced by spiritual leadership. In addition, the results demonstrate that organizational commitment was influenced by the sequential intervening effects of employee well-being and work engagement. Both the explained variance (R2) and the effect size of exogenous variables on endogenous variables (ƒ2) showed moderate-to-high effects, supporting the predictive ability of this PLS spiritual leadership model. This study suggests that young workers’ engagement and commitment to their work and organizations are roused when the organization and its leaders satisfy workers’ higher-order humanistic needs. This is accomplished when employees’ socio-psychological resources, such as spiritual well-being, are enhanced through spiritual leadership, which can be augmented by organizational climates that embrace young workers’ “whole” selves. This study expands our understanding of the role that spiritual leadership plays in not only motivating organizational commitment but, more importantly, in engaging employees in their work roles.

Abstract:
Many startups fail, and we still do not know why. It is the purpose of this study to know if a relationship exists between business model innovation and startup, and whether networking and competitive advantage can improve their relationship. We hypothesized that business model innovation relates to startup and that networking and competitive advantage significantly enhance the relationship between business model innovation and startup. Fifty-one respondents participate in this study. The partial least square statistical technique is used to analyze the data. This analytical technique is appropriate for parametric analysis for such a sample size. The null hypothesis that no relationship exists between business model innovation and startup is rejected. The null hypothesis that networking and competitive advantage is not related to business model innovation is also rejected. However, the null hypothesis that there is no direct relationship between networking and startup is accepted; the association is not direct but indirect. The null hypothesis that no direct association between competitive advantage and startup is rejected. There is a negative association between competitive ad-vantage and startup. Both networking and competitive advantage improve the relationship between business model innovation and startup. However, they must be used with caution.

The effects of financial literacy and subjective norms on saving behavior
, Pages: 3635-3642 Indra Widjaja, Agus Zainul Arifin and Made Setini ![]() |
||
Abstract:
This paper examines the influence of Financial Literacy on savings behavior that is improved by storing intentions and attitudes towards savings. Also, the study investigates the effect of subjective norms on saving behavior that is mediated by attitudes toward austerity. Research subjects were primary data from 469 young workers who worked in the DKI Jakarta area in 2018. Data were collected online by distributing questionnaires using Google Docs and they were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The research findings prove that financial literacy affects saving behavior, both directly and indirectly through the variables of saving intention and attitude to saving mediation. Other findings prove that subjective norms do not directly affect thrifty behavior, but had indirect effects through attitudes toward thrifty variables. This study offers alternative models of researchers associated with frugal behavior with theories of planned behavior theory with predictors of financial literacy and subjective norms to improve frugal behavior proving that saving intentions and attitudes towards saving can mediate financial literacy. Furthermore, a mediator's attitude towards savings can improve the subjective norm relationship with saving behavior. Thus, the planned behavior theory can explain the relationship between financial literacy and subjective norms by storing behavior. This is an initial empirical study that attempts to examine the relationship between financial literacy and subjective norms and their impact on savings behavior that is mediated by saving intention and attitude towards saving.

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the implications of service quality and brand credibility on passenger satisfaction and behavioral intentions in the air transportation industry in Indonesia, especially at Lion Air. This research is motivated by the high level of passenger complaints against Lion Air services in seven years, according to the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI). The most common complaints include frequent flight delays, less timely return of tickets, damage and lost luggage, even lower safety guarantees. This is considered not only as a manifestation of poor service quality, but also affects brand credibility in the long run. In addition, poor service quality and brand credibility show low passenger satisfaction and influence changes in their behavioral intentions in the future. Respondents in this study were Lion Air passengers at least once several times using Lion Air in the last two years. The study uses Structural Equation Modeling and Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) to examine the hypotheses of the survey. Data analysis techniques are carried out through three stages, such as inner models, external models, and hypothesis testing. Then, this study states that there is a positive and significant impact of service quality and brand credibility on behavioral intentions with passenger satisfaction as a mediating variable.

The data was collected using a close ended self-administered questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the model is tested using a measurement model and the structural model is constructed to understand the significance of the conceptual relationship posited in the hypotheses of the study. The findings of the study indicate that entrepreneurial orientation and knowledge management had a considerable effect on innovation performance and that marketing orientation had a considerable influence on innovation performance. In addition, the findings indicate that marketing orientation mediated the effect of entrepreneurial orientation and knowledge management on innovation performance. This study has provided some empirical evidence for the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation as well as knowledge management in ensuring the success of SMEs; it also provides an explanation on the manner in which entrepreneurial orientation and knowledge management improve the innovation performance of SMEs.
