Abstract: Outsourcing is a common practice among the organizations and it is a major element in business strategy. It has recognized as an area of strategic importance. This article represents the application of the DMAIC Six Sigma approach to improve outsourcing management process with an emphasis to reduce delay of delivery time for a manufacturing company. The paper identifies each stage of the DMAIC cycle and the Six Sigma tools that were applied. The improvement project has been implemented in seven months. Abstract: Over the past three decades, the unified approach of the optimization of the logistic systems has become one of the most important aspects of optimizing the supply chain so that in recent decades it has had a large application in practice and has been used to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the logistic fleet. The inter-urban transport networks by the terminals play an important role in logistic fleet and the goods distribution. In some cases, numbers of terminals face with an overload and others encounter with additional vehicles, which result delay in the load post and unnecessary car downtime. The present paper aims at modeling, scheduling and routing of the vehicles network and minimizing delays in order to create an optimal balance between the number of vehicles and the capacity of the car terminals to use the maximal capacity of vehicles. So that the multi-objective mathematical model is presented to quantify the regular transportation costs and to minimize the car downtime. The proposed model has two conflicting objectives where on tried to increase costs and the other decreases unused cars. Due to the high complexity of the problem, the multi-objective differential evolutionary algorithm (MODE) has been used. To prove the proposed algorithm, it has compared with the NSGA-II algorithm using four comparing indexes. The computational results show the superiority of the proposed algorithm. Disaster relief routing by considering heterogeneous vehicles and reliability of routes using an MADM approach

Abstract: A crucial issue in humanitarian relief operations is vehicle routing because there are many difficulties in roads that people face when a disaster is occurred. In such circumstances, selecting more reliable routes could help rescue team act more efficacious. Therefore, we propose a mathematical model that maximizes the reliability of selected routes in disaster relief routing process using a multiple attribute decision making (MADM) technique. Furthermore, the proposed model minimizes the total cost that imposed to system. For this reason, the model is a multi-objective vehicle routing problem (VRP). The problem considered here is NP-hard and its objective is to find near optimal solutions, rather than optimal ones, using the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm. An application of AHP for facility location in fruit and vegetable markets

Abstract: These days, one of primary concerns for residence of big cities is associated with the access on shopping centers. People prefer to live in places, which are close to their works, shopping centers and schools. Local governments also prefer to find the most appropriate places in an attempt to reduce unnecessary travels and traffic jams. In this paper, we present an empirical investigation to determine the most important factors influencing facility location for fruit and vegetable market in city of Tehran, Iran. The study has implemented two methods of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and factor analysis for the investigation. The implementation of AHP has considered two main criteria including Geographic location of market and market, amenities and existing infrastructures. In terms of Geographic location of market, cost saving and public infrastructure are found to be the most important factors while in terms of market based factors, Space and availability of parking are the most important factors. We also use factor analysis and the results of our survey have indicated that Space and Ease of access were two most important factors, which must be considered for facility location. Abstract: 5S is a systematic technique used by organizations come from five Japanese words; Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu(standardize) and Shitsuke (sustain). This system helps to organize a workplace for efficiency and decrease non value added activities and optimize quality and productivity through monitoring an organized environment. This paper aims to review previous studies about benefits of 5S Implementation and its efficiency in organizations. The results show that 5S is an effective tool for improvement of organizational performance, regardless of organization type, size, its production or its service. Consequently, 5S technique would strongly support the objectives of organization to achieve continuous improvement in performance and productivity. An investigation on logistics outsourcing on exports of minerals goods

Abstract: This paper presents a study to investigate the effects of outsourcing logistics on improvement of export activities in minerals firms. The proposed study designs a questionnaire with 20 questions in Likert scale and distributes it among 67 firms out of 81 active organizations, which are responsible for exporting minerals in province of Tehran, Iran. Using structural equation modeling, the study has determined that there was a meaningful relationship between strategic orientations of exporters against outsourcing third part logistics (3PL) and basic and additional capabilities of 3PL. In addition, there was a meaningful relationship between basic capabilities of 3PL and competitive advantage of exporters but there was not any meaningful relationship between additional capabilities of 3PL and competitive advantage of exporters. Finally, there was a meaningful relationship between competitive advantage of exporters and performance of exports. In summary, the survey indicates that the outsourcing logistics influences positively on the performance of minerals firms. Abstract: This article addresses multi-level lot sizing and scheduling problem in capacitated, dynamic and deterministic cases of a job shop manufacturing system with sequence-dependent setup times and costs assumptions. A new mixed-integer programing (MIP) model with big bucket time approach is provided to the problem formulation. It is well known that the capacitated lot sizing and scheduling problem (CLSP) is NP-hard. The problem of this paper that it is an extent of the CLSP is even more complicated; consequently, it necessitates the use of approximated methods to solve this problem. Hence, two new mixed integer programming-based approaches with rolling horizon framework have been used to solve this model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model and algorithms, some numerical experiments are conducted. The comparative results indicate the superiority of the second heuristic. Abstract: Six Sigma is known as the best quality management system, which has been applied in different places with distinct tasks. Any implementation of Six Sigma project normally can succeed only when human resource management is applied within the organization, properly. In this paper, we illustrate the intense of relationships between the human resources management indices and Six Sigma project implementation indices for some selected Iranian manufacturing firms. By using the fuzzy cognitive maps (FCM), we are able to show the strength of relationships among various indices. Abstract: Nowadays Business Intelligence (BI) tools provide several decision support environment in enterprise systems like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and they are mainly associated with computer-based techniques used in identifying, extracting and analyzing business data, such as sales revenue by products and/or departments, or by associated costs and incomes. The purpose of this paper is to provide a unified framework for the application of BI in ERP systems, which results in value-added quality control and management systems. In this paper, we expect to create business process automation and interaction between environment and technology by applying BI in ERP. Finally, a model is developed to represent the relationship between BI (as enabler of ERP) and the implementation of total quality management (TQM). The results indicate that using business intelligence, as an enabler of ERP, had good effect on achieving successful implementation of all three steps of Mukherjee model. Abstract: Nowadays, environmental issues are considered as the most important factor for competition. In this era, just modern companies can compete with each other and any environment friendly firm plays essential role in gaining more market share.
