, Pages: 633-648 Emmy Ermawati, Budiyanto and Suwitho PDF (360K) |
Abstract: This study examines the correlation between internal drivers, external pressures, Green Entrepreneurial Orientation (GEO). In the context of wood processing companies in Lumajang, this study examines how green supply chain management (GSCM) practices and performance interact. The study relies on theoretical underpinnings grounded in both institutional theory and the Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) theory to thoroughly explore and comprehend these complex interconnections. Data was collected from a sample of 98 wood processing companies registered as Primary Timber Forest Product Industries (IPHHK) in the Lumajang District Forestry Office up to 2020, using a saturated sampling technique over three months from January to March 2022. This study's data analysis was carried out using structural equation modeling (SEM), which uses the partial least squares (PLS) methodology. The results of the analysis indicate that internal drivers do not exert a significant influence on Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) performance. In contrast, external pressure and Green Entrepreneurial Orientation (GEO) have a notable and statistically significant impact on GSCM performance. Furthermore, GSCM practices play a crucial mediating role, fully mediating the correlation between internal drivers and GSCM performance and partially mediating the correlation between external pressure, GEO, and GSCM performance. This research holds practical implications for managers, supply chain specialists, and Lumajang wood processing industry policymakers. It clarifies the significance of particular drivers in putting GSCM practices into practice and reaching improved performance levels. Future research should consider expanding the sample size, extending the scope of the survey, exploring additional research avenues, and implementing longitudinal designs to investigate green supply chain integration and firm behavior over time. Abstract: This research tries to analyze the explicit and implicit impact of the smooth supply chain and fairness of the tax system on corporate taxpayer compliance and its implications for state tax revenues. This research uses quantitative methods, using random sampling techniques, and obtained a sample of 100 respondents consisting of various MSMEs registered with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in 2023 who are taxpayers in South Jakarta City, DKI Jakarta Province, Indonesia. The data obtained from the surveys was utilized in Structural Equation Modelling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) for additional analysis. Research results and data analysis show that tax system equity has a direct and significant impact on corporate taxpayer compliance; tax system fairness directly has no and minimal impact on state tax revenues; and corporate taxpayer compliance directly and significantly impacts state tax revenues. A smooth supply chain has a direct and substantial impact on corporate taxpayer compliance. Furthermore, a smooth supply chain has a direct and substantial influence on state tax collections. A seamless supply chain and state tax revenues are largely mediated by corporate taxpayer compliance, which has a substantial impact on both. Furthermore, the relationship between the fairness of the tax system and state tax collections in MSMEs in South Jakarta City is totally mediated by corporate taxpayer compliance. Abstract: Literature indicates it is crucial to understand how SMEs could adapt to changes in their external environment to develop a competitive advantage. However, there is limited discussion on how entrepreneurs’ resilience functions as one of the dynamic capabilities required to maintain their company’s competitive advantage in the long-term. This study aimed to investigate how entrepreneurial resilience affects SMEs ability to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. It also analyzed the moderating role of local cultural values in reinforcing resilience and sustainable competitive advantage. The population consisted of 400 handicraft SME who were thought of as Bali’s sustaining tourism sector. The results demonstrated that financial capital, human capital, and social capital were factors that shaped entrepreneurial resilience, where the ownership of capital and access to capital helped entrepreneurs when encountering changes in the dynamic and challenging industrial environment, where the role of financial capital was one of the sources of resilience that had the most significant influence. Furthermore, entrepreneurial resilience also contributed significantly to the achievement of sustainable competitive advantage. Moreover, the results also indicate that local cultural values strengthen entrepreneurial resilience because entrepreneurs who adjusted to local cultural norms developed in the surrounding community tended to respond positively to their behavior. Positive environmental acceptance could reinforce entrepreneurial resilience, given the psychological support of their behavior. Abstract: This study aimed to clarify the relationship between profitability, investment opportunities, and sustainable profits for industrial companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange. The population consisted of all 53 industrial companies on the Exchange in 2022. Financial data was obtained for the period 2018-2022, including metrics on investment opportunities and profitability. Using statistical analysis like regression testing, we assessed the data to test hypotheses and reveal insights. Existing research presents mixed findings; some studies suggest a positive link between investment chances and financial performance and profit durability, while others make the opposite claim. Our results contribute uniquely to this ongoing debate by providing statistical evidence that investment opportunities have a robust, positive impact on profit sustainability. Additionally, profitability strongly influences both investment opportunity indicators and profit sustainability for these industrial companies. These conclusions assist stakeholders in justifying financial acquisitions and allocating capital to potential investments. The findings also aid in shaping short and long-term investment approaches aligned with company goals and policies. This can increase value creation for shareholders by enhancing profitability and sustaining profits over time. In summary, by quantitatively demonstrating the interconnected nature of profitability, investment opportunities and durable profits, this study equips decision makers to make informed strategic choices that promote growth and sustainability. The analysis methods and results add valuable insights to academic and practical understanding of these relationships within Jordan's industrial sector. The impact of firm characteristics on dividends in Jordan: Institutional ownership as moderating variable
, Pages: 907-920 Leen Mahmoud, Yousef Abu Siam, Mahmoud Nassar and Mohammad Haroun Sharairi PDF (360K) |
Abstract: The objective of this research was to look at how firm attributes like age, size, as well as profitability affected the number of dividends paid. It also looked at how institutional ownership affected the connection between all these corporate characteristics as well as dividend payments as a moderating factor. A sample of forty publicly traded industrial businesses that were listed between 2016 and 2020 on the stock exchange in Amman were included in the research. The research analyzed the variables utilizing acceptable descriptive statistical techniques and used a model of multiple regression to test its predictions. The study's conclusions demonstrated that a company's size, years of existence, and income all positively affect dividend payments. Additionally, it found that corporate ownership had a strong correlation with dividend influence, as did both firm size as well as profitability. On the other hand, it discovered a negative correlation between the age of the firm as well as institutional ownership in terms of dividend effect. The research concludes with a proposal that Jordanian industrial enterprises should take size, years of operation, and profitability into account when determining how much dividend to pay out, acknowledging their important roles as well as effects on dividend distribution. The effect of environment, society, and governance (ESG) information disclosure on high-quality development of Chinese companies: Investigating the mediating role of green technology innovation
, Pages: 921-936 Qiaoyang Zheng and Zunirah Mohd Talib PDF (360K) |
Abstract: China listed companies play a significant role in fostering the economy's quality development and are leaders in the application of ESG principles by businesses. The application of ESG principles by listed companies is crucial to achieving a ‘win-win’ situation of social benefits and corporate economic benefits and raising the bar for high-quality development. Nevertheless, studies on the connection between corporate high-quality development and ESG information disclosure by China listed companies are few and contentious. This paper examines the role that ESG information disclosure plays in the development of corporate high-quality and the intermediary mechanism of green technology innovation in enterprises using panel data of China A-share non-financial listed companies from 2013 to 2022. The empirical results show that ESG disclosure and its three dimensions can significantly promote high-quality enterprise development. The study also discovers that high-quality enterprise development and ESG information disclosure are partially mediated by green technology innovation. The article’s findings serve as a guide for businesses, investors, and governments looking to adopt ESG practices. Abstract: Force majeure in Indonesia, especially during pandemics, causes a drastic fluctuation in the market and makes many medicine products related to the pandemic become scarce and stocked out. Major pharmaceutical companies manufactured in Indonesia need solutions for the significant change in demand level and find solutions to balance the supply and demand level. According to the existing literature, by doing internal integration, supplier integration, and customer integration, and supported with supply chain capability, companies can find solutions regarding market fluctuation and increase their competitive performance. This research uses 102 listed Indonesians chosen by the purposive sampling method. Research analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling and SmartPLS 3 software. This research finds that, in general, supply chain capability influences competitive performance. Meanwhile, internal integration by sharing activity information in departments and coordinating integrated planning can positively and significantly affect supplier integration and customer integration. Sharing inventory and information with suppliers and coordinating with suppliers about materials availability significantly influence supply chain capability. Internal integration also has a significant influence on supply chain capability. Customer integration with information sharing with customers and the company involving the customers when demands influence supply chain capability. Supply chain integration (internal, supplier, and customer) does not directly impact operational performance, so supply chain capability is a perfect intervening variable. Supply chain capability can help internal and external integration better affect competitive performance. This research also makes practical contributions to give managers input about how internal integration, supplier and customer integration, and supply chain capability can affect companies' competitive performance. Abstract: The complexity of risk management and supply chain optimization in the business context, especially in financial institutions such as banking, highlights several factors that require special attention. In the banking sector, where risk and operational smoothness are crucial, risk management and supply chain optimization play pivotal roles in maintaining stability and competitiveness. The objective of this research is to explore the extent to which the implementation of ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) and SCM (Supply Chain Management) can create a competitive advantage, influence decision-making, and ultimately impact company performance. The research methodology employed is quantitative. Data collection was conducted through the distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires with a score range from 1 to 5. The sample selection process utilized random sampling techniques, involving managers and staff working in State-Owned Enterprises (SOE/BUMN) in Indonesia. The study analyzed 263 samples, with data collected from February 2023 to June 2023. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS software facilitated data analysis. The results indicate that ERM significantly influences competitive advantage and decision-making, but it does not directly impact company performance. Similarly, SCM has a significant positive impact on competitive advantage and decision-making but does not directly affect company performance. Competitive advantage, in this study, did not prove to enhance firm performance or act as a mediator connecting ERM and SCM to company performance. However, decision-making significantly influences company performance and serves as a significant mediator in the relationship between ERM and SCM concerning company performance. Abstract: This research aims to reveal the role of three types of agility (employee agility, work method agility, and organizational agility) in improving company performance and profitability. In this research, a quantitative survey was carried out using a questionnaire adapted by the author based on learning agility and organizational agility theories. Five hundred and ninety-seven respondents from 25 companies, 13 sub-industries in Indonesia were taken as samples using the purposive sampling method. Data analysis was carried out using Smart PLS3. The research results show that the three dimensions of agile have a beneficial impact on the performance and profitability of the company. It was found that the impact of agile work approaches on corporate performance productivity and profitability was more significant than employee agility and organizational agility. These findings have implications for companies that implement agile work methods more optimally to improve company performance and profitability. Apart from that, companies also need to pay attention to the importance of developing employee skills and organizational flexibility amidst the swift transformations in the corporate landscape. This research contributes to management literature, especially in expanding understanding of the influence of agile dimensions on company performance and profitability. , Pages: 1225-1240 Amany Khalaf Haddad and Abdul Hafaz Ngah PDF (360K) |
Abstract: The current study was primarily intended to assess the Health Belief Model on Food Safety Behaviour with the moderating role of willingness to comply in the context of Jordanian restaurants. HBM comprises numerous factors including perceived benefits (PBN), perceived susceptibility (PSU), perceived severity (PSV), cues to action (CA), perceived barriers (PBR), and self–efficacy (SE). A quantitative research design was adopted, and data collection was done via Google Forms from the Amman Chamber of Industry and Jordanian Restaurant Association (JRA). A purposive sampling approach was used, and the target population were the restaurants from Amman, Jordan. Initially, total 500 questionnaires have been distributed of which 302 responses were received as well as after eliminating missing or improper responses, only 296 were processed for the final analysis. Data analysis was done via Smart-PLS. The outcomes enlightened a positive interlinkage between perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived susceptibility, cues to action, and self–efficacy with food safety behaviour. However, PSV and FSB didn’t show any relation. The moderating analysis of WC revealed the absence of any moderating impact on perceived susceptibility, benefits, and perceived severity on food safety behaviour. Likewise, the demographic details of the participants were utilized as control variables and did not yield any impact on the food safety behaviour. To sum up, the study concludes that public health professionals and legal representatives, including lawmakers, ought to educate food handlers regarding the significance of food safety behaviours due to widespread misconceptions about how current food safety standards promote positive results. Consequently, Jordanian restaurants should strictly adhere to safety-related regulatory protocols to meet the growing demands of consumers. The findings of the current work also offer valuable theoretical as well as practical implications for the practitioners in the field. Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted organizational processes and activities. Unlike previous pandemics, COVID-19 has affected everyone directly or indirectly. To protect employees from the virus and associated risks, organizations have focused on developing occupational health and safety management systems. While safety policies and practices were already in place before the pandemic, the emergence of new physical and psychological risks has led organizations to amend their safety and health management systems. Governments have introduced health containment measures such as social distancing, working in shifts, and mandatory quarantine to enhance safety for people worldwide. Employers have also introduced safety measures to build confidence in implementation. These safety management practices have influenced employees' behaviors during the pandemic, and this study aims to examine their impact. Specifically, the study aims to determine the impact of management practices on the behavior of healthcare employees regarding their safety in a threatening environment. Additionally, the study seeks to investigate the indirect influence of management practices on employees' behavior through perceived risks and efficacy. It is important to note that there has been a lack of research on the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers in Saudi Arabia. This study found that management commitment did not directly influence employee safety behavior. However, management commitment towards workplace safety practices had a significant and direct influence on healthcare employees' perceived risk associated with COVID-19 and their efficacy. Consequently, management commitment was found to indirectly influence employee safety behavior through efficacy. Abstract: The main problem in this research, among others, was the lack of attention given by the company management to the seafarers' demands concerning health, social aspects, work stress, work environment, work facilities, and working hours that increased seafarers' pressure. The aim of this research was to analyze the influence of job satisfaction and work stress on shipping safety with seafarer performance as the intervening variable. The research was carried out in Balai Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Ilmu Pelayaran (Center for Maritime Education and Training) Tangerang with the samples of 93 seafarers working in several shipping companies. Data was processed using Path analysis. The result of this research showed that job satisfaction and work stress directly influenced seafarer performance. Meanwhile, job satisfaction and work stress had an indirect influence on shipping safety through seafarer performance, and seafarer performance had a direct influence on shipping safety. The result of Path analysis showed that work stress rather than job satisfaction had a bigger influence on seafarer performance, and seafarer performance had the biggest direct influence on shipping safety. Abstract: Measuring the performance of Fintech services on mobile apps (FSMA) is considered a major key to sustain, develop, and improve financial services and their processes, depending on users’ standpoints on digital platforms. Public value aims at enhancing the performance of government institutions services. Throughout the current research, authors have suggested a novel way to evaluate the performance and management of FSMA by theorizing a new conceptual framework entitled Public Value of Fintech Services’ Mobile Apps (PV-FSMA). A quantitative approach was chosen to measure several factors influencing the use of FSMA and evaluate the degree of public value of FSMA among Jordanians. The structural equation model was conducted based on the results of the PV-FSMA model hypotheses. The results confirmed that FSMA-intention to use (FSMA-ITU) and its predictors: FSMA-usefulness (FSMA-US), FSMA-awareness (FSMA-AR), FSMA-security (FSMA-SE), FSMA-social influence (FSMA-IS), and FSMA-system quality (FSMA-SQ) except FSMA-ease of use (FSMA-ES) are valuable determinants of PV-FSMA. The article presents theoretical implications regarding financial services and public value theories and practical implications regarding public institution leaders, managers, and information technology specialists in the Fintech domain to improve the quality and performance of FSMA in Jordan.
