Abstract: Recently, there have been a growing number of articles focusing on the benefits of adopting e-SCM systems and the value of such systems in supply chain performance. However, less academic research was devoted to understanding factors affecting the adoption intention of such systems. This study uses the technology, organization, and environment (TOE) framework to examine factors that affect the adoption of e-SCM systems in Jordan, where limited research has been conducted in this country. Through an online survey filled by 251 participants via the LinkedIn website, the study shows that perceived relative advantage, financial resources, employee competency, top management support, competitive pressures, and customer pressure positively impact the adoption intention of e-SCM systems. The findings confirm the association between variables embedded in the TOE framework and the adoption intention of innovative supply chain systems and solutions and support earlier findings. According to the study findings, e-SCM systems providers should focus on the relative advantage these systems offer to increase the likelihood of their adoption. , Pages: 423-432 Guoyou Yue and Boonsub Panichakarn PDF (360K) |
Abstract: On average, Guangxi experiences 2 severe tropical cyclone disasters yearly. A large number of disaster victims need governments at all levels to raise enough emergency supplies to carry out effective relief. However, there is no proper reserve center for tropical cyclone disaster storage and collection of emergency supplies in Guangxi, so it is urgent to choose a suitable location to build the Guangxi tropical cyclone disaster emergency supplies reserve center. The data of 16 severe tropical cyclone disasters and rescues in Guangxi from 2014 to 2021 were collected. An optimal location model of the emergency supplies reserve center for tropical cyclone disasters in Guangxi was established using the improved center of gravity method based on GIS. After four iterations of calculation, the longitude and latitude coordinate S5(108.64, 21.98) were used as a suitable site to construct the Guangxi Tropical Cyclone Disaster Emergency Supplies Reserve Center to ensure the fastest and lowest cost delivery of emergency supplies to the disaster areas in Guangxi. According to the map of Tiandi, the actual place corresponding to this coordinate is near Liuwu Village next to Qinzhou East Railway Station, Qinnan District, Qinzhou, Guangxi. This location coordinate S5 can provide a reference for the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region government to select a suitable address to construct the Guangxi Tropical Cyclone Disaster Emergency Supplies Reserve Center. The improved center of gravity location model based on GIS can also provide a reference for other provinces or cities to carry out emergency supplies reserve center locations. The impact of liquidity risk, credit risk, and operational risk on financial stability in conventional banks in Jordan
, Pages: 433-442 Sawsan Ismail and Emad Ahmed PDF (360K) |
Abstract: This study examines the impact of unsystematic financial risk, including liquidity risk, credit risk, and operational risk, on financial stability in conventional banks listed on the Amman Stock Exchange in Jordan. Understanding and managing these risks is crucial for protecting investors, maintaining financial stability, encouraging foreign investment, and strengthening the financial sector in Jordan. The study adopts a descriptive approach to collect and describe data and utilizes cross-sectional panel data over five years from 2016 to 2021 to establish cause-and-effect relationships between study variables, while controlling for other relevant factors that may influence the relationship. The findings suggest that while liquidity risk may not directly impact financial stability, it remains a critical risk factor that requires attention in risk management strategies. Credit risk has a negative impact on financial stability, highlighting the importance of effective credit risk management strategies to maintain a stable financial system. The study finds that operational risk has no direct impact on financial stability. Still, unsystematic operational risks can have significant implications for individual financial institutions and may indirectly affect overall stability. The study underscores the importance of comprehensive risk management strategies to mitigate the negative impact of unsystematic financial risk on financial stability. Future research may consider analyzing the impact of other types of risks on financial stability. , Pages: 481-488 Dikdik Harjadi, Dewi Fatmasari and Abas Hidayat PDF (360K) |
Abstract: The cigarette industry faces market competition, and the pressure that suppresses its existence stems from ambiguous policies. The ambiguous policy is because the government still expects cigarette excise income as a significant source, but also that the government is faced with the demands of the anti-smoking community who establish cigarettes as a sunset industry. This condition does not make cigarette business actors give up, given that the cigarette industry still contributes to employment, state income, and market demand is still there. This study aimed to determine the effect of brand authenticity, brand identification, brand experience, brand loyalty, and brand love. The relationship between the five brand theories is examined using the Structural Equation Model. The sample for this study was 200 cigarette consumers, using a non-probability sampling technique. The result shows that: 1) Brand experience significantly and positively impacts brand identification among cigarette industry consumers; 2) Brand identification significantly and positively impacts brand love among cigarette industry consumers; 3) Brand authenticity significantly and positively impacts brand love among cigarette industry consumers; 4) Brand identification significantly and positively impacts brand loyalty among cigarette industry consumers; 5) Brand love significantly and positively impacts brand loyalty among cigarette industry consumers. The product marketing strategy component must take five branding theories. The product's market strengthens with the value of five brand components. Abstract: This study aimed to examine the characteristics of audit committees (ACs) on the short delay in issuing audit reports. Using data for 97 companies in the industrial and service sectors in the Jordanian context, for the period between 2017 and 2021. The results of this study showed that the independence of ACs has an important and negative impact on reducing the delay in issuing financial reporting (FR). However, the study did not find the importance of the rest of the characteristics related to ACs to reduce the delay in issuing audit reports between Jordanian companies. The study concluded that the mechanisms of corporate governance in Jordanian companies are not effective, compared to the more developed countries. Thus, policy makers are supposed to enforce governance practices in Jordanian companies in substance, rather than simply adhering to practices in form. , Pages: 533-546 Pensri Jaroenwanit, Pongsutti Phuensane, Aicha Sekhari and Claudine Gay PDF (360K) |
Abstract: Smart farming is a feasible solution to help farmers effectively and sustainably manage the potential threats and risks those traditional farmers face, such as product quality, increased production costs, the environment, climate change, natural catastrophes, pests, and inferior goods. Using a survey research design, this research examined smart farming adoption and risk management models by combining the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT). The research sampled 400 farmers who are members of community enterprises in the northeastern region of Thailand. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using a statistical package program in four steps: confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, structural equation model analysis (SEM), and Sobel's test. The findings revealed that government support variables had the most significant influence by adopting smart farming to risk management. Based on the research results, the government can apply this model to create strategies to encourage farmers to adopt smart farming and increase the production efficiency of agricultural products. The farmer can manage the risks of smart farming, which leads to sustainable smart farming and is useful for further academic acceptance and risk management studies. Furthermore, this study contributes to the existing literature on combining TAM and IDT in model adoption and risk management. The limitations include the small sample size adopted and the limited coverage area for the study, which restricts the generalization of the findings. However, the findings offer a glimpse into the benefits of smart farming. Supply chain ambidexterity, business performance and mediating role of lean and agile supply chain strategies
, Pages: 557-564 Suharto PDF (360K) |
Abstract: Ambidexterity is a company's capability to manage operations and strategy simultaneously and effectively, facilitating innovation and adaptation to market changes. Companies must be able to maintain operational efficiency and stability while also innovating and adapting to market dynamics. Ambidexterity enables companies to manage operations and strategy effectively and efficiently while at the same time, facilitating innovation and adaptation to market changes. This leads to an increase in company performance, such as increased revenue, increased market, and increased operating efficiency. It is also necessary that there are several mediating variables, such as effective supply chain collaboration, supply chain management, and innovation capability, which influence the relationship between supply chain ambidexterity and firm performance. This study aims to determine the extent to which ambidexterity can influence supply chain performance and how the role of lean and agile supply chains mediates the relationship between these variables. The research method used in this study is a quantitative approach. The number of samples analyzed in this study was 225. The results of the study concluded that ambidexterity helps companies to overcome pressure to optimize short- and long-term performance, maintain agility and flexibility in adapting to changes in the business environment. Studies on ambidexterity and supply chain performance have shown that ambidexterity can help directly optimize supply chain performance but can also amplify the positive impact of practices such as lean supply chain and agile supply chain. The implications obtained from the findings are that companies are expected to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness and have the ability to adapt to environmental changes and market demands. Abstract: The Village Credit Institution (LPD) is an organization of micro finance which is in the scope of Balinese traditional villages. More specifically, LPDs whose members are indigenous people are very strong with a culture that grows and develops in society, so that activities in achieving organizational goals can be achieved through collaboration of cultural capital. The desired achievement describes organizational structure, cultural capital, and credit risk in improving financial performance which places cultural capital as a moderating variable in LPD in Bali. Quantitative methods are used in this study, namely selecting specific cases on the structure of the role of cultural capital for the organization. Quantitative data processing using SEM-PLS, the number of samples includes 100 respondents obtained through a questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that cultural capital plays an important role in LPD activities, especially related to organizational structure, credit risk, efficiency, and financial performance. Even though in a pandemic condition, the LPD spends to provide massive assistance, this proves that the LPD is a hybrid organization which also emphasizes a social perspective with an emphasis on wisdom. Novelty raised in this research is the emergence of collaboration patterns between LPDs and customers in the framework of common interests. This research has implications for LPD as a reference for positive perspectives on the role of cultural capital on organizational dynamics. Furthermore, this research can provide input to local governments that local regulations are needed that can assess social activities carried out by LPDs. Abstract: The present study's primary goal is to examine selected financial risks and financial performance of commercial banks listed on the Bahrain Bourse from 2014 to 2021. However, as independent factors, chosen financial hazards include capital risk, liquidity, and bank size as a control variable, while financial performance as a dependent variable is assessed by return on equity. The panel regression analysis of data technique was used to attain the study goal. Whereas the statistics for the banks were gathered from their annual financial reports. A fascinating conclusion was the discovery of strong correlations between capital risks, bank size, and financial performance. The findings also revealed a negligible link between liquidity concerns and financial success. Due to the limitations of the present study, several ideas for future research may be suggested, such as performing research on other financial hazards, other financial institutions, and other financial performance metrics that are not included in the current research. Abstract: Business executives and scholars are increasingly interested in learning how corporate environmental responsibility (CER) and firm success are related. However, prior research in this field requires consistent and contradictory findings. This study fills this gap by suggesting and verifying a moderated mediation theory that better explains the association between CER and company performance by considering organizational slack and strategy similarity. From 2015 to 2017, 260 listed Chinese companies provided the data for this study, yielding 780 firm-year observations. According to the multivariate analysis findings, the association between CER and company effectiveness is mediated by strategic similarity. The relation between CER and strategic identity and the direct effect of CER on organizational value via strategic similarity are both moderated by organizational slack. These findings imply that CER efforts and pursuing strategic similarities are crucial for coping with stakeholder pressure and being competitive in the market. They offer useful insights for corporate managers looking to make educated decisions regarding CER. Abstract: This research aimed to know both the direct and indirect contribution of cargo loading and discharging time to the Loss and gain of coal mediated by load quantity. The process of data collecting was done through secondary data taken from the loading port of Jetty in Samarinda Port and the discharging port of Muara Berau, East Kalimantan. During 2020, there was an average loss of coal cargo of as much as 56 percent. This was caused by the long waiting discharge time during the loading and discharging. Another problem was the long waiting discharge time, as many Mother Vessels, tugboats, and barges entered the Jetty port and made a density there. The research method used path analysis with the loading-discharging unit as the source of secondary data on the determining factors of load quantity and the Loss and gain of coal cargo. This research indicated that one of the dominant factors was waiting discharge time, as a problem frequently occurred when vessels would berth in the port for discharging activities. The key finding was the necessity for the competent party to pay special attention to the factors contributing to vessels’ waiting discharge time in the port by providing services as maximally as possible through human resources improvement in the form of training. Abstract: In literature, several core studies have addressed the effects of industries in general, and the investments in Qualified Industrial Zones (QIZ) on the environment, adding up to the pollution risks resulting from these investments. What distinguish this study is that it dealt with investments in the QIZ in Jordan and its risks on the environment beside some other sectors that participate in polluting the environment such as the production sector represented by the GDP, the population sector, and the number of vehicles used during the study period that covered 1999 to 2017. This study used the ordinary least squares (OLS) method to examine the impact of investments in QIZ on the quality of the environment and its imbalances. It’s found that there is a clear negative effect of investments in the QIZ on the environment quality in Jordan in addition to the negative impact that is not less risky on the environment created by the other sectors. Abstract: Blockchain technology is revolutionizing all sectors of industries including the healthcare one. Blockchain technology applications have been realized in healthcare as they have the potential to revolutionize healthcare systems. Integrating blockchain into the design of supply chain design leads to decentralizing the management of the supply chain, and, in turn, improves workflow efficiency and reduces the various security threats. Therefore, this study aimed at examining the impact of integrating blockchain technology, into supply chain practices, on supply chain transparency and resilience. By adopting the organizational information processing theory, this study developed a research model that explored the impact of blockchain technology features including data quality, smart contracts, and traceability on supply chain resilience and transparency. Furthermore, this study examined the effect of supply chain transparency on supply chain resilience. The data was collected, from healthcare industry personnel, in Jordan, using an electronic survey. In total, 215 participants responded to the questionnaire. RStudio- 2022.07.1 was used to conduct the data analysis. Results revealed that data quality significantly and positively affects supply chain transparency and resilience. In addition to that, results indicated that while smart contracts are positively related to supply chain transparency, they do not affect supply chain resilience. Also, traceability was found to be positively related supply chain transparency and resilience. Finally, it was found that blockchain-driven supply chain transparency positively impacts blockchain-driven supply chain resilience. The results imply that integrating blockchain technology into the supply chain can enhance both supply chain transparency and resilience, and, in turn, provide the supply chain the capability of recovering to its original state should it encounter disruptive events. The outcomes of this study can help supply chain managers and other stakeholders to develop strategies and tactics to best utilize blockchain technology to enhance blockchain-driven supply chain transparency and resilience. Abstract: With the rapid development of international business activities and internationalization, export plays an important role in the existence and growth of businesses. Handicrafts, despite not being an essential product, have always been rated as a potential product for sustainable development and export. In Vietnam, a country with a lot of long-existing traditional handicraft villages, the export of handicrafts has always been considered as an advantageous activity that largely contributes to the economy as well as the society. According to statistics from the Vietnam Handicraft Exporter Association, every 1 million USD worth of handicraft export creates profit 5 to 10 times higher than that of the exploitation industry; as well as provides work for three to five thousand employees. Despite this fact, in the last few years the handicraft export in Vietnam has been modest and not fulfilled fully to its potential. In comparison with other export products, the export turnover of handicrafts still accounts for a low proportion. Recognizing this issue, the present study developed a model to analyze the effects of some certain factors to the handicraft export activity in Vietnam. The results of this paper will contribute to current literature as well as propose some solutions to promote the handicraft export in Vietnam. Technology makes it easy to shorten time saving business costs, as in business financial records that make one financial report must record everything manually with technology done automatically with the help of accounting software. Research purposes to test resources-based view theory in relation to the implementation of IT to produce operational performance and financial performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The research was conducted on SMEs in Bali. The research method used to answer the research objectives uses a quantitative test approach Partial Least Square. Based on data analysis, it was found that the development of SME IT Adoption had an effect positive on IT Assimilation, but directly IT Adoption is not able to improve operational performance and financial performance. IT assimilation can improve the operational performance and financial performance of SMEs. Operational performance is not able to mediate the effect of IT adoption on the financial performance of SMEs. IT assimilation is a fully mediating variable in the relationship between IT and the operational performance and financial performance of SMEs in Bali. The results of the study show that IT resource management through a technology-based business competency model can succeed in realizing Organizational Capability that can be used to build business competitiveness if the organization or business unit that adopts it pre-determines IT integration in accordance with the vision, mission, and goals of the organization. This is very important to implement in an effort to adapt to uncertain business world conditions, such as when Covid 19 occurred.
