||
Abstract:
Intrinsic leadership is a new concept of leadership and is built based on philosophically and psychologically of the intrinsic meaning. The basic philosophy of its development is a holistic leadership philosophy that integrates cognitive, affective, conative, and spiritual as the core of leadership. The purpose of developing intrinsic leadership is to create a vision and value congruence, empower cooperation between all stakeholders and especially build an organization like a family so that it creates attachment, trust, a motivation that has an impact on organizational performance. Intrinsic leadership is conceptually different from the previous concept of leadership that only rests on one or several elements that the leader has as a human. Development of measurement scales and validity testing provides a foundation that facilitates quantitative research in intrinsic leadership. There are three studies carried out, the first is scale development and testing the content validity of intrinsic leadership measurements. Testing the content validity is accomplished by analyzing and calculating the content validity index (CVI) and Kappa coefficient data are obtained from a panel expert consisting of eight experts. The second study is related to testing construct validity of intrinsic leadership using EFA from 186 data collected from owner-managers of SMEs. The results show that there are twenty-six indicators extracted into eight factors that are intrinsic leadership measurement scale. The third study aims to test empirically or confirm measurement model of intrinsic-leadership using CFA.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the interaction between customer satisfaction and trust in a structural model. Sample consists of 210 Suzuki motor bikes’ users, aged 17-64, domiciled in Medan. Structural equation model approach is used to process raw data. Respondents' opinions were taken proportionally throughout the Medan city sub-districts. Questionnaires were submitted accidentally. The results show that customer satisfaction and trust partially had positive and significant effect on brand equity and repurchase intention. Brand equity did not show any indirect causal relationship mediator of the three exogenous variables to repurchase intention. Programs related to customer satisfaction and trust better increase brand equity and repurchase intention directly. Interaction variable existence in research model increases Chi-Square probability, decreases standard deviation, and increases t-value. Interaction variable creates synergy on the influence of customer satisfaction and trust to increase brand trust. Any programs to increase brand equity through customer satisfaction and trust should be implemented, simultaneously. The two exogenous variables will bring out the synergy that comes from this interaction.

Unravelling the HRM practices and performance link in Malaysian SMEs: The role of organizational innovation
, Pages: 1111-1120 Nazlina Zakaria, Francis Chuah Chin Wei, Nor Azimah Chew Abdullah and Rushami Zien Yusoff PDF (288 K) |
||
Abstract:
Many studies have focused on direct link between HRM practices and organizational performance. There is a strong relationship between these two variables that driven further research to identify the mechanism through which such relationship exists. Following resource-based view (RBV), the aim of this research was to investigate the indirect effect of organizational innovation on HRM practices-performance linkage. Data was collected from owners/managers of manufacturing SMEs in West Malaysia. 331 (60.5%) distributed questionnaires were received and analyzed through PLS-SEM. Out of six hypotheses on mediation, only one hypothesis was rejected. The findings strongly supported the RBV theory when organizational innovation significantly mediated the relationship. These results clearly indicate that organizational innovation plays an intermediate role between HRM practices (i.e. communication and information sharing, compensation, selection, performance appraisal, and training and development) and organizational performance of SMEs.

, Pages: 1121-1132 Ahmad Marei, Luay Daoud, Marhaiza Ibrahim and Sameer M. Al-Jabaly PDF (288 K) |
||
Abstract:
The use of e-procurement aids organisations in reducing business costs, broadening their market access and simplifying purchasing processes. However, in Jordan, only 27.6% of firms utilise e-procurement systems. Hence, the usage of e-procurement systems by Jordanian firms is still in its infancy. In this work, the technology, organisation and environment (TOE) factors affecting the use of e-procurement systems by large firms in Jordan were investigated. Previous studies have reported inconsistent findings with regard to the antecedent factors that may affect e-procurement usage. Therefore, this work aimed to determine the factors related to e-procurement usage and whether or not top management support moderates the relationship between TOE factors and e-procurement usage. Results revealed that all TOE factors used in this study influenced the e-procurement usage of the firms. Moreover, the moderating role of top management support was found to be positively related to relative advantages and organisational readiness and negatively related to complexity.

Abstract:
The article substantiates the relevance and necessity of involving creativity, information and knowledge-based capital while forming and implementing the smart specialization policy of the EU regions. The scientific views on the relationship between the processes of economic growth, the use of creative, information and knowledge approaches, smart-oriented spatial and territorial planning are generalized. A new approach for assessing the creative, information and knowledge determinants of the EU regions’ economy transformations with the use of the multivariate regression analysis, a composite method, and strategic structural and functional design is developed. The scores of the sub-indices of the Global Innovation Index, the Global Talent Competitiveness Index and the World Digital Competitiveness Ranking are selected as the initial parameters of regression analysis. The relationships between these factors and the change in the GDP volume per capita, the share of GDP used for gross investment, high-tech exports, and the Global Quality of Life Index are revealed. The composite indicators of the concentration of creative and digital (ICT) industries in the EU regions are calculated (based on the level of enterprise concentration in an industry, the share of the employed in the field and the share of an industry in the regional economy in terms of wages). The priorities of smart specialization strategies of the EU’s individual regions, which are related to creative, information and knowledge factors, are identified. The calculations have confirmed sufficient closeness of the relationship between the use of creative, information and knowledge factors and the fulfillment of the tasks of smart specialization strategies in the EU regions. The sequence of the formation of tools and means for the implementation of the strategy of the regions’ smart specialization in the context of attraction and effective use of the determinants grouped by three directions (creativitization, digitalization and new knowledge) is presented.

This study aims to obtain the results of value added tax (VAT) compliance through behavioral decision theory with work personal attributes of the taxpayer's, tax understanding and taxpayer education, and ability to pay theory with tax compliance cost and audit system as a connecting variable to VAT compliance. The researcher randomly selected sample of n= 172 small and medium enterprise owners from Jordan by using web-based survey questionnaires. Data analysis uses the SPSS 23.0 and validates the relationship between study variables. The researchers also propose a research model support by the behavior decision theory and the ability to pay approach. Findings reveal a strong positive relationship between personal characteristics, VAT education and tax compliance under both theoretical grounds and also indicate a positive correlation between VAT compliance cost, audit system and VAT compliance in Jordan. Addressing the understudies, this study extends the role of value added tax practices in SMEs. It provides some useful information to the government and policy makers to develop and impose the value added tax law on SMEs Level. Therefore, the researcher suggests more studies to investigate the factors affecting VAT compliance in Jordan by using the proposed conceptual model under consideration.

Abstract:
This study established and empirically validated a model for predicting factors influencing users' behavioural intentions for using XBRL tools. This study explored the behavioural intention of using XBRL tools from the point of view of users by applying the UTAUT model with the addition of trust and satisfaction. An online survey was conducted by using the modified study model to comply with the research objectives. An online survey of 267 respondents obtained and analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) and IBM SPSS AMOS. The findings show that trust and satisfaction influenced behavioural intent significantly and positively. In turn, the effort expectancy and performance expectancy had a significant impact on satisfaction. The results showed that in the presence of satisfaction there was no direct effect of effort expectancy and performance expectancy on the behavioural intention to use XBRL tools and the emergence of a direct effect of confidence on the behavioural intention to use XBRL tools. The findings correspond with the previous studies and provide a practical reference for XBRL tool developers and decision-makers involved in developing and using XBRL tools for tagging and analysing financial reporting.

The role of high performance work practices, work-family conflict, job stress and personality in affecting work life balance
, Pages: 1367-1378 Nida Zahoor, Nor Azimah Chew Abdullah and Nazlina Zakaria PDF (288 K) |
||
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to identify the role of high performance work practices of banks, work-family conflict, job stress, and personality of bank employees in affecting their work-life balance. To accomplish this goal, self-administered structured questionnaires were distributed to those bank employees who were either married, divorced, or separated, had children, and at least one year working experience in that bank. Final sample was comprised of 726 employees from 277 banks of South Punjab. The results revealed that high performance work practices of banks, family to work conflict, and personality type B behavioral patterns of bank employees increase their work-life balance, and work to family conflict of bank employees decreased their work-life balance. However, job stress and personality type A behavioral patterns of bank employees did not affect their work-life balance. Contrary to previous studies, these results suggest that moderate family to work conflict is actually good for work-life balance, and job stress and personality type A behavioral patterns are inherently not bad for work-life balance. Hence, State Bank of Pakistan should consider developing policies to enhance employee friendly high performance work practices in banks. Banks should also consider taking personality tests prior to recruiting and selecting employees for hectic posts.

Application of the fuzzy clusterwise generalized structured component method to evaluate implementation of national education standard in Indonesia
, Pages: 1379-1384 Susetyo Budi and Wahyuni Rezi PDF (288 K) |
||
Abstract:
Results of school accreditation and national examinations are two indicators that are often used to describe the achievement of quality in education in Indonesia. ‘Accreditation’ reflects the fulfillment of 8 national education standards (NES), while the national exam (NE, or UN in Bahasa) for students describes academic performance. Eight NES and academic performance are latent variables. The relationship between the two variables and the validity of its indicators can be evaluated by several methods. Path analysis with latent variables can be obtained through general structured component analysis (GSCA) with the assumption of homogeneity of variance. Since the data are not homogeneous, this study aims to apply the fuzzy clusterwise generalized structured component analysis (FCGSCA) to evaluate the relationship between the NES and the UN, and the validity of the indicators. The results showed that there were two school clusters in Indonesia. The evaluation of the measurement model indicated that some indicators of the accreditation instrument were not valid, i.e., 6 indicators in cluster 1 and 15 indicators in cluster 2. The structural model evaluation of the two clusters indicated that standard of process to the UN was not significant. Based on the overall goodness of the fit model, the total diversities of all variables that could be explained were 61.60% in cluster 1 and 59.90% in cluster 2.

, Pages: 1439-1442 Guspianto, Al Asyary and Ismi Nurwaqiah Ibnu PDF (288 K) |
||
Abstract:
Implementation of quality management is very important for hospitals to improve processes, solve problems, and reduce variations and errors in service, including through the implementation of popular Total Quality Management (TQM) and Six Sigma (SS) as new quality management strategies to increase profitability, effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's operations to meet customer’s needs. This study aims to develop an integrated hospital quality management model from the practice of TQM and SS to provide synergy in improving hospital performance. The study design was cross sectional through a survey using a questionnaire on 863 respondents, namely all employees ranging from doctors to administrative personnel at 8 hospitals. The TQM and SS practice integration model identified as “Quality Management Alliance Model (QMA)” consists of 6 variable constructs, namely: Management Practice (MP); TQM Infrastructure Practice (IPTQM); SS Infrastructure Practice (IPSS); Core Practice TQM (CPTQM); Core Practice SS (CPSS); and Hospital Performance (KRS) with 12 structural equations hypothesized. Data analysis are performed using Structural Equation Model through 2 tests, namely analysis of measurement models using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) second order approach and structural model analysis. The results of the first order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) analysis, after issuing invalid indicators (SLF≤0.5 and t≤1.96), obtained constructs of latent variables with models fit, valid, and reliable. Then in the second order CFA analysis on the overall model after being simplified through LVS (latent variable score) the study obtained construct model fit, valid and reliable. The results of the structural model analysis obtained a model fit with 11 structural equations that are positively and significantly related (t> 1.96). This study proves that the QMA model is feasible and can be applied to measure the implementation of hospital quality management. Hospital management is recommended to implement the QMA Model optimally to improve performance.
