DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2025.10.001

Keywords: CAM, Consumer Engagement, Purchase intention, TPB, TRQ

Abstract:
The paper explores how social influence and consumer engagement affect the purchase intention of complementary and alternative medicine. The study aimed to investigate consumers of alternative medicine within Indonesia. The study provides practical insights into enhancing marketing strategies and strengthening consumer engagement with complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) by understanding these factors. A quantitative approach was used, involving a sample of 580 complementary and alternative medicine consumers in Indonesia. Participants were selected using purposive sampling criteria, which included individuals aged 17 years and older who had consumed CAM at least twice in the month. Data analysis was conducted using SmartPLS4 as the analytical tool. These insights offer a deeper understanding of how consumers behave in relation to alternative medicine, which can assist healthcare professionals in formulating more effective, targeted approaches to encourage the adoption of alternative medicinal practices.

Fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among university students: Evidence from the University-based entrepreneurial ecosystem in Vietnam Pages 115-128 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Nguyen Ngoc T Trung, Phung The Vinh

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2025.10.005

Keywords: Entrepreneurial mindset, Entrepreneurial intention, University ecosystem, TPB, Vietnamese higher education, PLS-SEM

Abstract:
This study investigates how personal traits (PT), family background (FB), and the university ecosystem (UE) shape the entrepreneurial mindset (EM) and, in turn, entrepreneurial intention (EI) among university students in Vietnam. Drawing on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the study integrates individual, familial, institutional, attitudinal, normative, and control factors into a unified framework. By conceptualizing EI as a behavioral decision under uncertainty, the study positions EM as a cognitive mechanism that mediates how students form and enact entrepreneurial decisions. Using PLS-SEM on survey data from 412 students, the results confirm that PT and UE are the strongest drivers of EM. At the same time, EM, attitude (AT), subjective norms (SN), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) exert significant direct effects on EI. The model explains 49.0% of the variance in EM and 56.0% of the variance in EI, demonstrating robust explanatory power. These findings contribute to the decision sciences by demonstrating how cognitive readiness (EM) and TPB constructs influence entrepreneurial decision-making, thereby offering implications for universities and policymakers to design decision-making environments that foster entrepreneurship among students.

Understanding mobile payments through the lens of innovation resistance and planned behavior theories Pages 45-64 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Ahmad A. Rabaai, Shereef Abu Al Maati, Nooh Bany Muhammad, Enas M. Eljamal

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2023.10.018

Keywords: Behavioral intentions, Theory of planned behavior, Innovation resistance theory, Mobile payments, Fintech, TPB, IRT

Abstract:
Despite the numerous advantages that different mobile payments can provide, their acceptance, and adoption rates are still relatively low. This study aims at investigating mobile payments and demonstrates how drivers and barriers that influence behavioral intentions to use mobile payments interact and support one another by combining the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and the innovation resistance theory (IRT). A self-administered online survey was employed to gather data from 341 users of mobile payments in the State of Kuwait. To test the proposed model and its hypotheses, responses were analyzed using a partial least square structural equation modeling approach (PLS-SEM). The results show that usage, value, risk, and tradition resistance-related factors are significant barriers towards behavioral intentions to use mobile payments, while the image barrier is insignificant. The findings also affirmed that perceived behavioral control and attitudes motivate and influence consumers’ behavioral intentions; however, the subjective norm was non-significant. The study’s findings have significant implications for scholars, mobile payments’ service providers, marketers, policymakers, and banks.

Authors: Ngoc Thang Ha

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2020.2.009

Keywords: Online shopping intention, Perceived risk, TAM, TPB

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to discuss and to examine the impact of the factors on Vietnamese consumers’ online shopping intention based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The questionnaire was sent directly to the respondents and through the Internet. After 5 months collecting, there were 423 valid replies being analyzed. The data were analyzed in accordance with the process from Cronbach's Alpha to EFA and multiple regression technique. The results showed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude and subjective norm had positive effects on consumers’ online shopping intention. While the factor of perceived risk had a negative effect on consumers’ online shopping intention.

An analysis of sustainable change management for quality 4.0: Evidence from hybrid project management adoption in the Malaysian FinTech context Pages 253-272 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Tan Chi Xiang, Zunirah Mohd Talib, Md Gapar Md Johar

DOI: 10.5267/j.jpm.2023.6.001

Keywords: HPM, TOE, TPB, Quality 4.0, FinTech, Intention to adopt

Abstract:
In this paper, the authors aim to analyse organisational intention and focus on hybrid project management (HPM) methodology adoption in FinTech system software development. It is important to ascertain the internal and external factors that affect organisational decision-makers’ intentions towards HPM adoption. This study aims to apply a theoretical approach integrating Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE), which examines the factors that impact FinTech organisations’ decisions to adopt HPM into their software development projects, together with the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) which examines the behavioural intention. It addresses those factors that form organisational decision-makers’ readiness for HPM implementation and enable their intention to use it. When combining the independent, dependent, and moderating variables, the results show that the effect of relative advantage, top management support, and industry pressure have a positive influence on individual’s attitude towards HPM adoption in FinTech Malaysia and sustainability in Quality 4.0. The authors also considered the influence of attitudes and perceived behavioural control variables having a positive influence on sustainable intention of HPM adoption in the FinTech industry. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to verify the proposed hypotheses, with the exception of the direct influence of top management support or attitude on intention to adopt.

An implementation of TPB method for learning important factors influencing knowledge sharing Pages 2293-2300 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Shahrzad Karampour, Mojtaba Bojarpour

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2012.08.015

Keywords: Knowledge management, Knowledge sharing, TPB

Abstract:
Knowledge management incorporates the systematic management of vital knowledge resources and the associated processes of creating, organizing, gathering, utilizing, diffusion and exploiting data. A key challenge emerging is learn to encourage knowledge sharing (KS) within firms because knowledge is an organization’s intellectual capital and plays an important role in gaining a competitive advantage. Isolated initiatives for promoting KS and team collaboration without taking into consideration the limitations and constraints of KS can halt any further development in the KM culture of an operation. In this paper, in addition to individual and social factors, an effect of individual perception, which is an important factor for any behavior, is studied. We first identify effective factors in KS behavior through the theory of planned behavior, six factors of trust, knowledge power, organizational motivation, organizational culture, IT and Communities of Practice (COP) as effective factors in three categories of behavioral beliefs, subjective norms and perceived behaviors are analyzed for an Iranian research center. The results of this research helps develop KS behavior and enhance performance and creativity of research in this center.
