The impact of digital financial literacy on the adoption of financial technology in rural areas of Vietnam Pages 877-886 PDF Download PDF

Authors: Dinh The Hung, Truong Duc Minh Khoi

doi 10.5267/j.dsl.2025.8.002

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Financial literacy, Financial knowledge, Fintech, Subjective norms, Perceived control

Abstract:
This paper investigates the impact of digital financial literacy on the use of financial technology (Fintech) among people living in rural areas of Vietnam. The study employs various theoretical frameworks, including the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), to clarify factors influencing the intention and behavior of Fintech adoption. These factors include performance expectancy, perceived risk, subjective norms, behavioral control, convenience, security, personal motivation, financial attitude, and financial behavior. Based on the research findings, the authors propose several recommendations to improve digital financial literacy among rural populations in Vietnam, recognizing it as a key factor in expanding access to and usage of modern financial services in these areas.

The mediating role of justification on the relationship of subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and attitude on intention to cheat among students Pages 3767-3776 PDF Download PDF

Authors: M.Y. Yusliza, Jumadil Saputra, Olawole Fawehinmi, Nik Hazimah Nik Mat, Monizaihasra Mohamed

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2020.7.035

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Intention to cheat, Attitude, Perceived behavioral control, Subjective norms, Attitude, Justification

Abstract:
Cheating is not new in an academic line, but a continuous problem faced by educators. Many studies reported an increase trend of cheating among students from secondary or tertiary institutions from time to time. The primary purpose of this paper is to examine the connection between subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, attitude, and intention to cheat among undergraduate students. Also, the variable of justification to cheat is assigned as moderator variable in this relationship. The paper used a survey method for data collection, administered both in electronic and paper form. The Structural equation model with partial least square (PLS-SEM) was utilized to evaluate the data obtained from 917 undergraduate students in one of the public universities in Malaysia. The results provided support that justification, alongside subjective norms, perceived behavioral control were valid predictors of intention to cheat. However, Attitude was significant with the intention to cheat. Further, the findings showed that among the three constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior, justification could only significantly moderate the perceived behavioral control-intention to cheat relationship. The study was only conducted at one public university in Malaysia. Researchers are recommended to further examine the model in other universities and other countries. Implications for implementing strict anti-academic dishonesty policy and research are discussed.

The role of structural support in predicting entrepreneurial intention: Insights from Vietnam Pages 1783-1798 PDF Download PDF

Authors: Tran Van Trang, Duong Cong Doanh

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2019.6.012

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Structural support, Entrepreneurial intention, Attitudes, Subjective norms, Perceived behavioral control

Abstract:
By adopting the theory of planned behaviour, our study develops research model to analyse the effect of structural support on the entrepreneurial cognitive process among university students in Vietnam. Authors employ a meta-analytic path analysis with a sample of 2218 students at 14 universities in Vietnam in order to show that although structural support has positive effect on attitude towards entrepreneurship and perceived behavioural control, it also has negative influence on subjective norms and entrepreneurial intention. Interestingly, different with some previous studies, authors investigate the significant and direct relationship between subjective norms and entrepreneurial in-tention in the economic transitional context of Vietnam. Moreover, analogously to many researches adapting the planed behavioural control, attitude toward entrepreneurship is still seen as the strongest influencing factor on entrepreneurial intention, followed by perceived behavioural control and subjective norms.

Authors: Mohamad Fazli Sabri, Norjumaaton Fazhani Razak, Rusitha Wijekoon

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2019.5.029

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Pro-environmental workplace behavior, Intention, Attitude, Subjective norms, Perceived behavioral control, Mediation effect

Abstract:
During the past few years, many studies associated with sustainability of the organizations have primarily analyzed the financial and performance related implications of sustainability of an organization, and perception of these practices by neglecting the role of the employees who might play a vital role through taking part in pro-environmental behavior in the workstation. Thus, this study focuses on the individualโ€™s pro-environmental workplace (PEW) intention to determine its mediating effect between the factors in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the PEW behavior context among public workers in Malaysia. Random sampling on a list of ministries situated in Federal Territory of Putrajaya was used in the first stage followed by systematic sampling based on officerโ€™s list of the directory in those ministries. Cleaned data resulted in 460 questionnaires gathered on demographic characteristics, PEW intention, attitude towards environmental practice in the workplace, subjective norms, perceived environmental workplace control, and PEW behavior of public sector context in Malaysia. The results reveal significant influences of PEW subjective norms, and perceived PEW control on the PEW behavior. While a series of regression analyses show that the PEW intention mediated only the two relationships between PEW subjective norms, and perceived PEW control on PEW behavior.

Decision making on the use of a shariah-based e-wallet by Indonesian consumers Pages 1739-1752 PDF Download PDF

Authors: Muniaty Aisyah, Yunia Silvia Sesunan

doi 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.7.017

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Decision, E-wallet, Sharia, Technology Acceptance Model, Theory Planned Behavior, Perceived enjoyment, Perceived trust, Subjective norms

Abstract:
This study integrates the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to analyze consumers' decisions to use a Shariah-based e-wallet in Indonesia. With convenience sampling, a hundred samples were calculated by using SEM-PLS analysis. It found that only perceived trust and intention influenced consumers' decisions to use a Shariah-based e-wallet, while perceived ease of use, usefulness, enjoyment, attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control did not. Perceived ease of use and usefulness influenced consumers' intentions but not the decision to use Sharia-based e-wallets. Thus, intention does not necessarily describe actual behavior. Consumers feel that the Sharia-based e-wallet is not as easy and useful as other e-wallets they mostly use, like Go-pay, Shopee-pay, and OVO. Other implications and some recommendations are discussed further in this study.

Authors: Zulaikha Zulaikha, Paulus T. Basuki Hadiprajitno, Abdul Rohman, Rr. Sri Handayani

doi 10.5267/j.ac.2020.11.020

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Corruptive attitudes, Subjective norms, Perceived behavior control, Intentions to corruption, Corruptive behavior

Abstract:
This study explores the values that develop in society which are social constructs that are thought to be related to attitudes, norms, and controlling individual behavior in society and in turn can foster intentions and behavior to corrupt. This research was conducted empirically by involving 265 respondents from accountants, stakeholders, civil servants and inspectors in Central Java, Indonesia who were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS analysis tools. The theoretical test results confirm the fraud triangle and the theory of planned behavior to study the opportunity and financial process factors and the rationalization factor which emphasizes the moral psychological aspects. In practical terms, these findings underline the need for tiered supervision in the implementation of goods and services procurement projects in the public sector, improve the quality of reporting and accounting systems, and improve individual integrity to carry out work. Also, it is necessary to increase the remuneration of employees and provide competitive pricing for the private sector involved in procurement projects to minimize intentions for corruption and corrupt behavior by improving the quality of life of the individuals involved in supervision, auditing and reporting.
