On the possibility of implementing a simple shear in the cross-section of metal materials during caliber rolling Pages 253-262 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Maxat Abishkenov, Zhassulan Ashkeyev, Kayrosh Nogaev, Yerbol Bestembek, Kuathan Azimbayev, Ilgar Tavshanov

doi 10.5267/j.esm.2023.3.004

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Simple shear, Diamond pass, Metal materials, Caliber rolling, Stress, Strain rate

Abstract:
The article analyzes the stress-strain state in the zone of plastic deformation during special caliber rolling. The principle of caliber rolling technology is described, which makes it possible to combine shear and compression deformations in the cross-section of metals, alloys, and metal-matrix composites. The analysis results of stresses and strains during shear rolling in a diamond pass, which included compressive strains that had not been considered in previous studies, revealed that localization or point inversion of stresses and strains is observed in the plastic deformation zone. Stress and strain are localized along the minor and major diagonals of the diamond pass.

The effect of work environment, stress, and job satisfaction on employee turnover intention Pages 877-886 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Kurniawaty Kurniawaty, Mansyur Ramly, Ramlawati Ramlawati

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2019.3.001

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Work environment, Stress, Job satisfaction, Turnover intention

Abstract:
This study aims at investigating the factors that influence Bank Mandiri employees' turnover intention including work environment, stress, and job satisfaction. This research is expected to be able to find a solution to the problem of increasing turnover intention which could lead to serious problems. The study uses a quantitative method with the Path Analysis model and the resulted model analyzes both direct effect and indirect effects of independent variables on dependent variable. The sample size includes 100 employees of Mandiri Bank who were selected from a population of 430 employees based on purposive random sampling technique. The findings of this research indicate that, work environment had a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Second, stress had a neg-ative and significant effect on job satisfaction. Third, work environment had a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Fourth, stress had a positive and significant effect on turnover intention. Fifth, job satisfaction had a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Based on these results, work environment, stress, and job satisfaction can be policy tools to reduce turnover intention, which can lead to a decrease in real turnover at Mandiri Bank.

Factors influencing stresses and movements in continuously reinforced concrete pavements โ€“ A review Pages 67-82 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: M. M. Mirsayar, D. G. Zollinger

doi 10.5267/j.esm.2017.10.002

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Stress, Continuously reinforced concrete pavements

Abstract:
The use of cement concrete as a stronger and more durable material than asphalt concrete in construction of the pavements has been increased during the past decades. This review paper investigates the effect of various input variables for the design of continuously reinforced concrete pavements. A literature review is prepared based on the efforts performed by many researchers to investigate the effect of different factors including temperature change, shrinkage, material properties of the concrete, and concrete slab/ subbase bond properties on the displacements and stresses in the concrete slab. It is found that the important role of concrete slab/ subbase bond strength has not been investigated properly as compared to other input variables.

Authors: Mahnaz Asadi

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2015.6.003

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Anxiety, Cognitive-behavioral, Contrastive skills, Stress

Abstract:
This paper presents an empirical investigation to study the effects of teaching contrastive skills of Islam originated from versus of holly book of Quran and cognitive-behavioral for coping on anxiety among some high school students in city of Tehran, Iran. The study uses a standard method developed by Cattell and Scheier (1963) [Cattell, R. B., & Scheier, I. H. (1963). Handbook for the IPAT Anxiety Scale Questionnaire: Self Analysis Form. Institute for Personality & Ability Testing.] to measure the anxiety. The results have indicated that both methods, contrastive skills and cognitive-behavioral, not only could reduce anxiety in short term but also it could reduce the anxiety over the long term period.

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2012.06.010

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Employee performance, Job satisfaction, Stress, Working conditions

Abstract:
The study performs an empirical survey to measure the impact of stress among people with various gender and marital status in a hydropower unit located in city of Esfahan, Iran. The study performs the survey among all 81 people who were working for customer service section of this company and consists of two parts, in the first part; we gather all private information such as age, gender, education, job experience, etc. through seven important questions. In the second part of the survey, there were 66 questions, which included all the relevant factors impacting employees & apos; stress. We implement two Levin and t-student tests to see whether gender or marital status has any meaningful influences on creating stress among people. The results indicate that gender has no meaningful impact on creating stress among employees who worked for this hydro plant except difficulty of job conditions. The other findings of this paper is that stress posed from management team had different impacts on employees with various marital status but there were no meaningful differences between married and single couples in terms of other factors posing stress such as unsuitable working conditions, fear of job stability or difficulty of job conditions.

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2012.06.004

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Stress, Guided schools, Coping with stress, Teenager's stress

Abstract:
The primary objective of this paper is to study the impact of stress on educational school- children who are enrolled in guided schools. Teenagers are normally facing with stress and feelings and when the level of stress increases, they may face with problems, which would become more serious as they get older. In this study, we perform a standard stress relief program (CS-R Coping With Stress-Revised) and try to reduce the burden of stress among 1240 students who attended guided schools. We split the people into two groups of experiment and witness and performed the study among one group. Before the exam, there was no meaningful difference between their average markings but after performing the exam, the average marking of the experienced students was increase by 0.53. The results clearly indicate that it is possible to make significant change on students & apos; personal characteristics.

In the second part of the survey, there were 66 questions, which included all the relevant factors impacting employees & apos; stress. Cronbach alpha was calculated as 0.946, which is well above the minimum acceptable level. The implementation of ANOVA and LSD tests have revealed that there are no meaning differences among people with different job titles but people in different age groups maintained various level of stress.

Cronbach alpha was calculated as 0.946, which is well above the minimum acceptable level. The implementation of factor analysis has detected 16 important groups of factors and each factor is determined by an appropriate name. The results of our factor analysis show that among different factors, difficulty of working condition as well as work pressure are two most important factors increasing stress among employees.

Abstract:
The study investigates different factors influencing people to have more stress in a hydropower unit located in city of Esfahan, Iran. Since there were only 81 people working for customer service section of this company and the proposed study tries to focus only on this part of the firm we have decided to distribute questionnaires among all of them. The questionnaire consists of two parts, in the first part, we gather all private information such as age, gender, education, job experience, etc. through seven important questions. In the second part of the survey, there are 66 questions, which include all the important factors influencing employees & apos; stress. Cronbach alpha is calculated as 0.946, which is well above the minimum acceptable level. The results of our ANOVA tests shows that among different factors, difficulty of working condition as well as work pressure are two most important factors increasing stress among employees. The other findings indicate that there is not a significant difference on work stress among different groups of employees in terms of their job title, educational level, employment type and gender (P & GT; 0.05). The other finding indicates that there is a meaningful difference between different groups of people with various ages, marital status and job experience (P & GT; 0.05).
