Development of circular supply chain implementation model for MSMEs using extended theory of planned behaviour and DEMATEL approach Pages 113-122 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Anjali Upadhyay, A.C. Shukla

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2024.6.003

Keywords: Circular supply chain management, Extended theory of planned behavior, Circular economy, Decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory, Micro, small, and medium enterprises

Abstract:
This study emphasizes circular supply chain management (CSCM) implementation model development for Micro, Small, and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the context of India by using the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior (ETPB) and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method of decision making. This study identifies seven factors to develop ETPB with the help of experts and literature surveys. The DEMATEL method is used to analyze the prominence of factors, interrelationships, and causal relationships between the identified ETPB factors based on experts' opinions. The results indicate that there are three cause factors and the rest four are effect factors. ‘Social Pressure’, ‘Circular Incentives’, and ‘Pro-environmental Behavior and Responsibility’ are the significant causes. The Inbound Supply Chain is the prominent factor affected by all the six factors of ETPB. The research findings will be beneficial for academicians, policymakers, and practitioners as they provide insights into CSCM model development and help in recognizing significant measures to implement it.

Smart green supply chain management: a configurational approach to enhance firm financial performance Pages 1-16 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Saif Ur Rehman, Rosli Mahmood, Naseem Abidi, Wan Fadzillah Wan Yusoff

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2025.1.005

Keywords: Smart supply chain, Green supply chain management, Sustainable supply chain performance, Financial performance, Small, medium and large MNEs, GCC

Abstract:
This study uses the Resource-Based View (RBV) and technology, organization, and environment (TOE) theories to examine how smart supply chain (SSC) practices affect financial performance (FP) in enterprises of various sizes. Our results show that SSC benefits larger enterprises more financially than smaller firms. SSC has a statistically significant effect on green supply chain management (GSCM) and sustainable supply chain performance (SSCP), and the strength of the relationship declines with a decline in firm size. Smaller enterprises are more receptive to competitive pressure and implement GSCM alongside SSC. Our findings show that SSCP improves financial performance, while GSCM does not, even in large enterprises. Further, mediation effects show that GSCM mediates the relationship between SSC and SSCP, whereas it does not mediate between SSC and FP across all sizes. The impact of SSC on FP is sequentially mediated via GSCM and SSCP. Using a non-linear approach (ANN), we also rank independent variables for small, medium, and large firms. Our research provides important implications.

The role of supply chain management, firm value, and competitive advantage in the food sector Pages 73-86 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Miguel Angel Esquivias, I Made Laut Mertha Jaya, Mara Elthaf Ilahiyah

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2024.7.014

Keywords: Supply chain management, Competitive advantage, Management operations, Strategic management, Micro, small, and medium enterprises

Abstract:
The adoption of supply chain management (SCM) is pivotal in boosting organizational competitiveness and performance. This study examines the relationships among SCM, firm value, company performance, and competitive advantage within the context of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Employing a quantitative approach, we analyzed data collected from a sample of 100 MSMEs using SmartPLS to test various hypotheses. The findings indicate that effective SCM significantly influences a firm’s value, performance, and competitive advantage. This study supports the mediating role of firm value by showcasing its robust influence on the relationship between SCM and competitive advantage. However, the mediating role of company performance on competitive advantage appears weaker. The discussion integrates relevant literature, highlighting the pivotal role of SCM strategies in enhancing productivity, fulfilling customer desires, and increasing competitiveness. This study also underscores the critical link between financial performance, value creation, and competitive advantage. Overall, this study contributes to the ongoing development of practical SCM knowledge by providing valuable insights for MSMEs seeking to navigate the challenges of an evolving business landscape.

Performance and adoption of a PWA-based omnichannel application for MSMEs: Insights from SinariUMKM Pages 221-232 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mashadi Mashadi, Mumuh Mulyana, Septian Cahyadi, Rizal Riyadi, Muanas Muanas

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2025.10.001

Keywords: Digital branding, Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Omnichannel marketing, Progressive web application (PWA), Social media integration

Abstract:
The rapid growth of social media use among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia has created new opportunities for digital marketing. Yet, fragmented platform management remains a significant challenge. While previous studies highlight the efficiency of cross-platform integration, few have provided practical solutions tailored to MSMEs with limited technical and financial resources. The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate “SinariUMKM”, a progressive web application (PWA)-based omnichannel system designed to simplify campaign management, broadcasting, and reporting across multiple social media platforms. Using a research and development framework combined with rapid prototyping, the application was calibrated and tested in numerous stages. Black-box functional tests demonstrated that all modules, campaign, broadcasting, and reporting, performed reliably, achieving an average loading time of 3s and a transition speed of less than 1 second between pages. Survey validation involving 117 MSMEs showed high acceptance, with mean scores of 4.62 for smartphone usability, 4.62 for promotional usefulness, and 4.52 for alignment with current business trends. However, technical reliability scored slightly lower at 3.55. These findings confirm that “SinariUMKM” effectively addresses key marketing needs while remaining lightweight and affordable. The study contributes a scalable model for supporting MSME digital branding and highlights the importance of improving technical stability for sustainable adoption.
