Keywords: Project management, PMBOK, Productivity, Pastry industry

Abstract:
Productivity in companies is a vital element for survival in a competitive and often unequal market, therefore the implementation of the PMBOK in the pastry industry is necessary to provide a standardized framework that allows clearly define objectives, activities, and responsibilities, improving communication and control of scope, time and costs; The research aimed to establish the impact of project management applying the PMBOK in improving productivity in the pastry industry in Huancayo. Basic research developed under a quantitative and correlational level approach, data was collected from 10 companies in the bakery and pastry industry in the city of Huancayo located in the Department of Junín. The information was processed and modeled through structural equations based on PLS. The results indicate a Spearman Rho correlation coefficient of 0.799 with a significance level of 0.000, demonstrating a strong positive relationship between the variables analyzed. Likewise, the general hypothesis is confirmed, which establishes a significant relationship between project management and continuous improvement through the implementation of the PMBOK approach.

Exploring the application of artificial intelligence in project management: A systematic literature review Pages 441-450 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mohammad Senisel Bachari, Ali Solouki, Hossein Ghanbar

DOI: 10.5267/j.jpm.2025.5.002

Keywords: Project management, Artificial intelligence, Systematic literature review, PMBOK

Abstract:
Projects play a crucial role in the success and development of industries, organizations and businesses, hence making project management an important practice which needs to be up to date with new trends and modern technology such as artificial intelligence (AI). With the advent of artificial intelligence there have been a number of studies aimed to design and introduce new ways and means of utilizing this phenomenon into project management. This research aims to find AI methods, tools, approaches, models and frameworks for each of the project management knowledge domains introduced by PMboK. The methodology followed the PRISMA guidelines for systematic literature reviews to collect, screen and analyze the literature to find relevant studies. The findings presented bibliographic data on the topic and current trends, frequently used AI methods and project management techniques and tools which benefit from these AI methods under each project management domain.

A new outsourcing framework: A case study of educational institution activities Pages 1005-1010 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mohammad Mahdavi Mazdeh, Mohammad Reza Lotfollah Hamedani

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2012.01.025

Keywords: Educational activities, Outsourcing, PMBOK

Abstract:
During the past two decades, there have been growing interests on reducing different activities using outsourcing activities. Outsourcing allows us to focus only on value added activities, which helps reduce the size of organizations. In this paper, we present a new framework based on PMBOK, which determines and ranks important activities for outsourcing. The proposed model of this paper is implemented for a real-world case study in educational system. We have distributed a questionnaire among some decision makers and asked them about their opinions on outsourcing activities on Likert scale. We have compared the relative importance of four major activities including educational activities, research and development, administration and services. The results indicate that general services are the most important activities, which are suitable for partnership followed by administration activities. Educational and research activities and development are in lower important activities.

An empirical study for ranking risk factors using linear assignment: A case study of road construction Pages 615-622 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Amin Foroughi, Mohammad Javad Esfahani

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2011.11.007

Keywords: Group decision making-, Linear assignment, PMBOK, Risk analysis

Abstract:
Road construction projects are considered as the most important governmental issues since there are normally heavy investments required in such projects. There is also shortage of financial resources in governmental budget, which makes the asset allocation more challenging. One primary step in reducing the cost is to determine different risks associated with execution of such project activities. In this study, we present some important risk factors associated with road construction in two levels for a real-world case study of rail-road industry located between two cities of Esfahan and Deligan. The first group of risk factors includes the probability and the effects for various attributes including cost, time, quality and performance. The second group of risk factors includes socio-economical factors as well as political and managerial aspects. The study finds 21 main risk factors as well as 193 sub risk factors. The factors are ranked using groups decision-making method called linear assignment. The preliminary results indicate that the road construction projects could finish faster with better outcome should we carefully consider risk factors and attempt to reduce their impacts.

Abstract:
Experiences and studies, results and documentations review show that the impress and the stra-tegic level of Project Management (PM) have been increased. Different organizations have in-troduced various standards for PM. Indeed, the main criterion to select and apply PM standards relies on the standard, depending on the project type and the experiences of PM managers. The primary objective of PM standards is to direct a project into a systematic and regular framework. Application of PM standards makes project easier and gives accurate analysis that provide bene-fits for executives and gives some managerial approach. The main purpose of this research is to compare and evaluate two most popular and versions of PM standards; namely PMBOK and ISO 21500.
