Authors: Cuong Vu Sy, Trang Huyen Luu

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2025.8.005

Keywords: Internet, Mobile Internet, Consumption, Local governance, Development

Abstract:
The study is based on theoretical and empirical studies on the role of the internet in consumption and related factors. This paper synthesizes the channels through which the Internet influences consumption and analyzes the factors affecting this relationship. Methodology adopted for this research is an empirical approach. We estimate the model using panel data through Fixed Effect Model Estimations The panel data is collected annually for 63 provinces in Vietnam. The data is sourced from the Statistical Yearbook and VCCI. The results obtained revealed the positive impact of the internet on consumption. The results indicate that the impact of the internet becomes stronger with the Mobile Internet. The paper finds that the internet plays a more significant role in urban areas compared to rural ones. It also shows that effective local governance positively influences the relationship between internet and consumption. The paper offers the first evidence that local factors, including the macroeconomic, institutional and social variables, are determinants of consumption in the context of Internet development.

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2025.1.005

Keywords: Business Analytics, Internet, International Trade, Stochastic Frontier Gravity Model

Abstract:
The Internet is widely recognized as an important technology to accelerate export performance. In the case of energy trade, the issue of export efficiency must be achieved for every exporter country, including Indonesia. The essential input factor to achieve maximum efficiency of trade is to utilize the internet as a technological factor. Therefore, the objective of this study is to examine the impact of the internet on the efficiency of primary energy exports in Indonesia. The study employed the Stochastic Frontier Gravity Model (SFGM) to analyze data from 26 destination countries spanning the period from 2011 to 2020. The result reveals that the condition of internet technology from importers, proxied by fixed broadband subscriptions and secure internet servers has a significant effect on Indonesian export energy performance. Furthermore, the addition of internet technology enhances the Indonesian primary energy export efficiency by comparing the efficiency before and after involvement of the internet. Therefore, the condition of internet technology from importer countries must be considered to maintain the export performance of Indonesia's primary energy to the global market.

The effects of information and communication technology on village development performance Pages 1941-1948 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Andi Furqana, Fikry Karim, Latifah Sukmawati Yuniar, Arif Gunarsa, Erwinsyah Erwinsyah

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.6.018

Keywords: Information Technology, Communication, Internet, Network, Village Development Performance

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to examine how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) affects village development performance, which is measured through the Developing Village Index (VDP). This index is made up of three dimensions: Social, Economic, and Environmental Resilience Indexes. By using quantitative methods and cross-sectional data from 1,842 villages in the Central Sulawesi Province in 2021, the study concludes that ICT has a positive impact on the development performance of villages overall. The study found that the quality of internet signals and the number of cell phone users, as well as the presence of technology devices and internet facilities in village offices, have a positive influence on village development performance. However, the existence of internet facilities for the public has no effect on village development performance, including economic, social, and environmental development in rural areas. By examining the effectiveness of both the community and the village government's utilization of ICT, this study contributes to understanding the impact of ICT in improving village development performance. To reduce the digital divide and continue to support rural development, it is important to enhance ICT facilities and infrastructure for rural communities and improve the quality of their implementation governance. Furthermore, to support the delivery of public services and the implementation of village development programs, both the government and Regional Government need to encourage the effectiveness of the use of ICT.

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2012.09.001

Keywords: Internet, TOPSIS, Web browser

Abstract:
Web browser is one of the most important internet facilities for surfing the internet. A good web browser must incorporate literally tens of features such as integrated search engine, automatic updates, etc. Each year, ten web browsers are formally introduced as top best reviewers by some organizations. In this paper, we propose the implementation of TOPSIS technique to rank ten web browsers. The proposed model of this paper uses five criteria including speed, features, security, technical support and supported configurations. In terms of speed, Safari is the best web reviewer followed by Google Chrome and Internet Explorer while Opera is the best web reviewer when we look into 20 different features. We have also ranked these web browsers using all five categories together and the results indicate that Opera, Internet explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome are the best web browsers to be chosen.
