Keywords: Business Incubation, Business Incubator, Government Support, Incubator Resources, Incubator Success, Service Capability

Abstract:
Business incubators contribute to the development of entrepreneurship, innovation, and regional economy. However, in developing countries, implementation faces challenges and obstacles that threaten the success and sustainability of their operations. This research examines the influence of incubator resources, service capabilities, and government support on the success of business incubators. We conducted a national survey and used structural equation modelling analysis to test hypotheses on a sample representing seventy-six percent of the business incubator population in Indonesia, one of the developing countries in Asia. Empirical evidence shows that most incubators in Indonesia are non-profit, university-based, and technology business incubators. The incubator's resources and government support impact its service capabilities. However, the incubator's resources and government support do not directly impact its success. The novelty is that service capability acts as a full mediating variable on the influence of government support and incubator resources on the success of business incubators. The final section outlines managerial implications and future research directions.

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2024.5.001

Keywords: Digital orientation, Electronic human resource management, Government support, Performance, Medium enterprises

Abstract:
Human resource management is essential to the success of the organization based on the concept that an organization achieves a competitive edge by effectively and efficiently utilizing its people. However, HR professionals require organizational support to increase employee commitment and passion for their work. In this study, the goal of the study is to explore the moderating impact of government support in the relation between electronic human management (E-HRM), digital orientation, and performance of medium enterprises. To examine the relationships, the researcher collected data from 309 managers from Amman's medium-sized businesses via a survey questionnaire. Partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) is used in statistical analysis to evaluate the data as well as test hypotheses. The data showed that E-HRM and digital orientation have a good and substantial impact on ME performance. Furthermore, government support has a positive and significantly moderating effect between digital orientation and ME performance. On the other hand, government support has insignificant moderating influence on E-HRM and ME performance. This research extends to the literature on digital services and electronic human resource management practices in the sector of local medium enterprises. This research also discusses the implications and the future directions. One of these is that the study framework gives guidelines to HR practitioners on what competences they should focus on to improve in digital and electronic human resource management. According to the results of this research, HR professionals in medium-sized businesses should be involved in digital services, strategy planning and implementation in their organizations.

Relationship between National Automotive Policy (NAP), innovation and automotive vendors’ performance in Malaysia Pages 1181-1198 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mohd Lutfi Iskandar, Aini Suzana Ariffin

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2019.4.022

Keywords: Government Support, Innovation, Vendor Performance, Structural Equation Modelling

Abstract:
Automotive industry in Malaysia started in 1985 with the launch of the first national car. However after thirty years, overall performance of the industry is still far behind the neighboring countries like Thailand and Indonesia which ranked first and second top producers in the automotive industry. In order for the automotive players in Malaysia to be globally competitive, innovation is an important element to drive competitiveness. Thus, the aim of this study is to determine the relationship between NAP strategies and innovation performance in the Malaysian automotive component industry. NAP was launched in 2006 with six main directions and strategies. Study is focused on local automotive vendor and a completed survey was completed with 300 respondents. Data was ana-lyzed through structural equation modelling (SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0. Empirical evidence shows that NAP supports all types of innovation among automotive vendors in Malaysia. The study also found innovation mediates between National Automotive Policy (NAP) and vendor’s performance except in the process innovation. This supported previous research in this area where government policy partially mediates on firm competitiveness. The finding of the study suggests NAP is still relevant for the automotive vendors in Malaysia in improving innovation and performance.

This paper presents an empirical investigation to determine the factors influencing the performance of the incentive polities of free trade zones in Iran. The study designs a questionnaire consists of 34 questions. Cronbach alpha is equal to 0.809, which is well above the minimum acceptable level. In addition, Bartlett & apos; s Test of Sphericity yields a Chi-Square value of 2392.31 with Sig. = 0.000. Using principal component analysis with rotation, the study has detected six important factors influencing on development of free trade zones including government support, financial capability, development strategy, product competition, infrastructure and consultation services.
