The relationship between the transportation export value and energy consumption of Thailand Pages 1-12 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Kitimaporn Choochote, Sukanya Sirimat, Tanawat Watchallanun, Sakkarin Nonthapot

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2022.11.002

Keywords: Transportation planning, Energy, Export, ARDL, NARDL

Abstract:
This study was conducted to consider the relationship between the transportation export value (TR) and energy consumption of Thailand (EN) in the long run by a comparative analysis that relied on testing by the ARDL and NARDL models. The Granger causality of each item was also tested by quarterly time series data from Quarter 1 of 2011-Quarter 4 of 2021. The results revealed a long relationship from the EN to TR. However, only the reduction of the TR affected the EN. According to the results, the energy agencies of Thailand should maintain the balance of EN and sufficient energy imports to drive the TR for its stability.

Dynamics of Indian macroeconomic variables: a hac standard errors VECM approach Pages 55-68 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Subrata Roy, Shubham Kumar

DOI: 10.5267/j.ac.2025.8.002

Keywords: Co-integration, VECM, HAC, GDP, India, Export

Abstract:
This study investigates the dynamic causal relationship between India’s GDP and key macroeconomic variables (exports, imports, inflation, exchange rate, BSE and NSE) over a period from January 2000 to December 2024 by using monthly data. Cointegration test has confirmed the presence of one cointegrating equation that means long-run equilibrium relationship exists along with short-run dynamics as provided by VECM estimates through HAC standard errors provided by Newey-West. The CUSUM test has confirmed overall model stability and while heteroskedasticity has been taken care of by applying HAC standard errors. The study has also shown both uni-directional as well as bi-directional casualties.

Authors: Nguyen Vi Le, Nguyen Khac Huy, Chu Tien Minh, Vu Anh Tuan, Nguyen Ngoc Diep

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2022.12.009

Keywords: Handicraft, Export, International business, Sustainable development, Internationalization

Abstract:
With the rapid development of international business activities and internationalization, export plays an important role in the existence and growth of businesses. Handicrafts, despite not being an essential product, have always been rated as a potential product for sustainable development and export. In Vietnam, a country with a lot of long-existing traditional handicraft villages, the export of handicrafts has always been considered as an advantageous activity that largely contributes to the economy as well as the society. According to statistics from the Vietnam Handicraft Exporter Association, every 1 million USD worth of handicraft export creates profit 5 to 10 times higher than that of the exploitation industry; as well as provides work for three to five thousand employees. Despite this fact, in the last few years the handicraft export in Vietnam has been modest and not fulfilled fully to its potential. In comparison with other export products, the export turnover of handicrafts still accounts for a low proportion. Recognizing this issue, the present study developed a model to analyze the effects of some certain factors to the handicraft export activity in Vietnam. The results of this paper will contribute to current literature as well as propose some solutions to promote the handicraft export in Vietnam.

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2018.12.013

Keywords: Export, Economic development, DEMATEL, AHP, Pharmaceutical companies

Abstract:
Nowadays, there is a growing attention on export activities and they are considered as a good strategy for companies to grow from supportive domestic sales to foreign developing markets, while offering greater flexibility, cost, and lowering different risks compared to other external development methods. With the internationalization of the global economy, the focus has been on improving export performance, which reflects the company's success in the economic field. An important point about Iran's exports, which should not be overlooked, is the decline on the reliance of the national economy on revenues from oil exports and the achievement of economic independence. Therefore, support for the export industries, especially non-oil exports, is one of Iranian priorities for increasing economic growth and creating foreign exchange earnings. In the meantime, the economic performance of pharmaceutical companies is very important because the growth and development of this sector and the export of these products bring significant foreign exchange earnings. This paper focuses on the data gathered from the managers and exporters of the pharmaceutical companies and using some statistical tests to determine the effective components on export promotion. The study considers 18 factors and extracts five important factors including profitability and economic growth, developmental quality, encouragement and financial performance. The study also uses analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and DEMATEL techniques to rank these factors and their sub-components. Quality is considered as the most important factor according to the implementation of AHP and profitability and economic growth are determined to be the most influencing factors according to DEMATEL.

Authors: Duy Thuc Nguyen, Luu Cuong Tran, Thi Ngoc Han Bui, Thi Thanh Thuy Ngo, Thi Nguyen

DOI: 10.5267/j.ac.2021.3.028

Keywords: Foreign direct investment, Export, Economic growth, Dong Nai, Vietnam

Abstract:
This study aims to examine the causal relationship between foreign direct investment, exports and economic growth in Dong Nai province, Vietnam from 1999 to 2019. The study uses several economic models such as Vector Auto Regression - VAR (p), Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Granger causality tests to evaluate relationships between research model variables. The results show that foreign direct investment and exports have the positive effects on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Therefore, this study recommends some policy implementation to simulate the foreign direct investment. Particularly, the policy makers in Dong Nai province should be aware of the role of foreign direct investment and export incentive policies, which is an important driving force for the socio-economic development of Dong Nai province, Vietnam.

Hybrid SSA-TBATS to improve forecasting accuracy on export value data in Indonesia Pages 1505-1514 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Setiawan Setiawan, Muhammad Fajar, Hasbi Yasin, Chrisandi R. Lande

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2023.8.012

Keywords: Forecasting, Singular Spectrum Analysis, TBATS, Time Series, Export

Abstract:
This research aims to present the Hybrid SSA-TBATS approach as an alternate forecasting technique that does not need specific assumptions or requirements such as stationarity, linear or nonlinear process, and normality. This analysis used Indonesian exports (in millions of USD) from January 1993 to July 2022. The findings of this research reveal that the Hybrid SSA-TBATS method outperforms SSA and TBATS in forecasting accuracy and defines the window length and number of groups. Therefore, it is highly recommended based on MAPE since it does not need any information on the characteristics of the data to be forecasted.

Detecting privatization factors on promoting exports of steel companies Pages 413-418 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Seyed Mohsen SeyedAliAkbar, Mohammad Zaripour

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2016.4.004

Keywords: Privatization, Export, Steel Industry

Abstract:
Privatization is considered as the transfer of business from the government to the private sector. This process is often accomplished in an attempt to reduce the size of government, increase the productivity and export activities. There is no doubt that in an export oriented economy, government tries to promote expert based activities by making necessary changes on rules and regulations. This paper presents an empirical investigation to determine important factors on promoting export in Iran. The study designs a questionnaire in Likert scale and distributes it among some experts active in steel industry. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy is equal to 0.839 and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity yields an approximation Chi-Square value of 2485.02 (Sig. = 0.000, df = 276). Using principle component analysis with Varimax rotation, the study has detected five important factors including human resources development, productivity management, marketing management, creating competitive environment and building necessary infrastructures, which influence the most on export activities.
