The relationship between the transportation export value and energy consumption of Thailand Pages 1-12 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Kitimaporn Choochote, Sukanya Sirimat, Tanawat Watchallanun, Sakkarin Nonthapot

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2022.11.002

Keywords: Transportation planning, Energy, Export, ARDL, NARDL

Abstract:
This study was conducted to consider the relationship between the transportation export value (TR) and energy consumption of Thailand (EN) in the long run by a comparative analysis that relied on testing by the ARDL and NARDL models. The Granger causality of each item was also tested by quarterly time series data from Quarter 1 of 2011-Quarter 4 of 2021. The results revealed a long relationship from the EN to TR. However, only the reduction of the TR affected the EN. According to the results, the energy agencies of Thailand should maintain the balance of EN and sufficient energy imports to drive the TR for its stability.

The choice of capital structure: A study on energy industry in a developing country Pages 289-294 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Giang Ngoc Long

DOI: 10.5267/j.ac.2020.12.002

Keywords: Capital structure choice, Energy, Perking order, Representative cost

Abstract:
The choice of capital structure has greatly contributed to the success of the firms in general and energy in particular. This study uses a sample data set of 250 energy firms over the period 2010-2019, and by using generalized least square (GLS) method to perform a survey. The main factors in this study include profitability, firm age, state shareholding and depreciation tax shield, etc. The study found that except firm growth, all factors including firm performance, age of firm, size of firm, asset structure, short-term solvency, and depreciation have significantly affected firm’s capital structure choice in the case of energy industry in a developing country. Furthermore, a positive effect was also found for size of firm and asset structure while a negative effect was detected for other factors such as firm performance, asset structure, firm age, short-term solvency, and depreciation. Through this research, we also conclude that the theory of pecking order, and the theory of representative cost are known as the basis for financial managers to build sound capital structures for businesses.

Performance measurement of electricity suppliers using PROMETHEE and balance scorecard Pages 387-394 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mona Osati, Manouchehr Manouchehr

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2016.4.007

Keywords: Performance measurement, PROMETHEE, BSC, Energy

Abstract:
Performance measurement in energy industry plays an important role on increasing the productivity. Electricity is also among the most essential components of energy in mega cities like Tehran. The lack of a good service in this city may result unpleasant consequences on most civilians who live in this city. This paper presents an empirical investigation to measure the performance of six major electricity contractors in city of Tehran, Iran. The study implements grey numbers to handle any uncertainty associated with numbers. The study has also adopted four main perspectives used in balanced scorecard as part of PROMETHEE method to rank different contractors.

The application of particle swarm optimization algorithm in forecasting energy demand of residential - commercial sector with the use of economic indicators Pages 2415-2422 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Hesam Nazari, Aliye Kazemi, Mohammad Hossein Hashemi, Mahboobeh Nazari

Keywords: Energy, Forecasting, Particle swarm optimization

Abstract:
Energy supply security is one of the strategic issues of all states. Beside the energy supply management, the section that has received less attention is energy demand management. According to importance of residential and commercial sectors in energy consumption, in the present study energy demand of these sectors is estimated using linear and exponential functions and the coefficients are obtained from PSO algorithms. 72 different scenarios with various inputs are investigated. Data from the years 1968 to 2011 are used to develop the models and select the suitable scenario. Results show that an exponential model developed based on particle swarm optimization algorithm has had the best performance. Based on the best scenario the energy demand of residential and commercial sectors is estimated 1718 Mega barrel of crude oil equivalent up to the year 2032.

Increased longevity of wireless Ad hoc network through fuzzy system Pages 445-456 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Fawzia Abdali Larki, Seyed Javad Mirabedini, Ali Harounabadi

Keywords: AOMDV Protocol, Energy, Fuzzy System, Routing Algorithms, Wireless Ad hoc network

Abstract:
The Ad hoc network is one of the multistep-based self-organizing networks, which are dynamically changing and are taken more into account as the ways of connecting the terminals through the development of wireless communication terminals. We are faced with numerous challenges in designing a wireless network such as the dynamic topology, common and limited bandwidth, and the limited energy. The nodes are moving according to the continuous changes in the topology and the source-to-destination paths are completely broken. Therefore, the repeated route discovery enhances the delay and overload of routing. Thus, it is essential to consider the link stability while designing the path in order to choose the routing protocol. Providing the multiple paths may lead to the better performance than a path. The transmission energy control in the wireless Ad hoc networks is the option for the level of transmission energy in order to transmit each node packet in this system. Therefore, transmission energy control affects the wireless medium interface. Because of choosing the appropriate protocol, the routing operation can be improved and the energy consumption can be controlled properly as well as enhancing the durability and longevity of network. The main objective of this study is to enhance the network longevity. The proposed algorithm in this research considers the combination of 2 parameters including the rate of node energy and number of steps in Fuzzy System applied on AOMDV Protocol, which is a Multipath Routing Protocol. The results of simulation also indicate the improved performance of proposed algorithm (AOMDV-F) compared to AODV and AOMDV Protocols in NS2 simulator.
