Digital technology empowers low-carbon development of manufacturing industry: A bibliometric review and research agenda Pages 1629-1648 PDF Download PDF

Authors: Yongqiang Su

doi 10.5267/j.ijiec.2026.7.005

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Digital technology, Low-carbon development, Manufacturing, Empowerment, Low carbon intelligent manufacturing, Pathway

Abstract:
As the โ€œpeak carbonโ€ and โ€œcarbon neutralโ€ target strategies deepen, the manufacturing industry, as an important part of the economy, faces the dual challenge of reducing carbon emissions while maintaining economic efficiency. The advent of digital technologies offers innovative ways to address this challenge. First, research literature closely related to digital technology and low- carbon development in manufacturing was collected. A sample repository of 657 documents was created to explore the state of research on digital technology enabling low-carbon development in manufacturing. A theoretical analytical framework is also developed in the paper. Second, it clarifies the concept of digital technology and low-carbon development, reveals the trend of development towards low-carbon intelligent manufacturing, and analyses the realization, scenario application and expected impact of digital technology to enable low-carbon development of the manufacturing industry. Third, this paper proposes a technological pathway for digital technology to enable low-carbon development in manufacturing. Finally, we look forward to future research directions and hope that this study can provide reference for empowering low-carbon development in the manufacturing industry with digital technology.

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Transformational Leadership, Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, Individualized Consideration Employee Creativity, Empowerment, Hotel Sector

Abstract:
This study investigates the relationships between transformational leadership, empowerment, and employee creativity in the hotel sector in Jordan, examining the mediating role of empowerment. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with a stratified random sample of 300 employees from Jordanian hotels. Data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. Findings reveal significant positive direct effects of inspirational motivation and individualized consideration on employee creativity. Empowerment partially mediates the relationships between all transformational leadership dimensions (idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration) and employee creativity, with individualized consideration exhibiting the strongest indirect effect. The study contributes empirical evidence on the mediating role of empowerment in the transformational leadership-creativity relationship, specifically in the hotel sector context. It offers insights for managers on adopting transformational leadership practices and fostering empowerment to promote employee creativity and innovation. This study uniquely examines the relationships between transformational leadership, empowerment, and employee creativity within the Jordanian hotel sector, providing a nuanced understanding of the differential effects of transformational leadership dimensions and the crucial role of empowerment.

A study on the effect of human resource empowerment on productivity: Evidence from Indonesian higher education Pages 1977-1986 PDF Download PDF

Authors: Nuryanto Nuryanto, Zulfikar Bagus Pambuko

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2019.7.008

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Human resources, Muhammadiyah higher education, Productivity, Empowerment, Structural equation model, Indonesia

Abstract:
Human resource management is the key component for every organization. The empowerment of human resource is a strategic decision which in return affects the organizational productivity. The purpose of the present study is to examine the impact of HR empowerment through information technology, cultural dimensions and organizational knowledge with their impact on Muhammadiyah higher education productivity in Indonesia. To address this objective, a questionnaire was developed as a core instrument to collect primary data from the employees of Muhammadiyah higher education. A final sample of 138 respondents was collected for applying the structural equation modelling (SEM) approach with the factor analyses. Additionally, validity of the questionnaire was observed through three measures; namely Cronbachโ€™s alpha, average variance extracted and composite reliability. Findings through structural equation modelling approach specify that all three dimensions of HR empowerment have shown their positive and significant influences on Muhammadiyah higher education productivity. However, this study is limited by various perspective. First, data is collected from Indonesia through employees of Muhammadiyah higher education only with limited generalizability of the findings. Second, the study has not discussed the combine effects of human resource empowerment on the overall productivity of Muhammadiyah higher education but with individual dimensions like cultural, information technology and knowledge factors. The findings can be meaningful to boost the performance and productivity of higher education while understanding its structural relationship between human resource development.

Abstract:
n this era of industrialization, it is very difficult for firms to develop and sustain the competitive advantage. Industrial competition spread so rapidly worldwide, which neglect the differentiation of products and it is very difficult to sustain the competitive advantage in the market. Large economies capture the maximum world market and give tough time to small economies such as Iraq. Thus, the primary aim of the current study is to present a comprehensive theoretical framework for competitive advantage, which leads to better firm performance. Many studies have highlighted the area of competitive advantage of the firms, however, in a rare instance, literature has reported limited discussion on sustainable competitive advantage, especially in the context of Iraq. This research gap formulated four hypotheses, which are proposed the relationship between empowerment strategy, organizational learning and competitive advantage. The pick and drop method was adopted to distribute the questionnaires among four hundred manufacturing firms of Iraq. The results of the current study found a positive and significant relationship between empowerment, organizational learning and competitive advantage. Furthermore, the current study found a significant relationship be-tween empowerment strategy and organizational learning. Moreover, organizational learning was found the main contributory factor between empowerment strategy and competitive advantage in Iraq industrial context. This work contributes to the consistency of knowledge by developing a comprehensive theoretical account to build and sustain the competitive advantage of Iraq industry. Hence, the current work is helpful for sustainable competitive advantage of companies to achieve the highest firm performance.

Abstract:
Knowledge management is frequently identified as an important antecedent of innovation. However, few empirical studies have specifically addressed antecedents and consequences of effective knowledge management. Today, domestic organizations are compelled, as well as other international organizations and have to compete to stay in business environment. Hence, they must be innovative. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of knowledge management on employee's innovation in organizations through empowerment as a mediator for a case study of the Agricultural Bank of Qazvin province of Iran. Required information was gathered by a self-made questionnaire adapted and based on conceptual model adapted from previous studies. The population of this study consists of 369 employees of the Agricultural Bank of Qazvin. A total of 200 questionnaires were distributed, in which 188 valid questionnaires were collected. These questionnaires were distributed randomly among the male and female employees in branches of Agricultural Bank. The questionnaire is conducted by factor analysis and the reliability is measured by Cronbach's alpha. The structural equation modeling is used for data analysis. The results reveal the fact that empowerment will lead to employee's innovation. However, other variables did not have any significant and direct or indirect effect on employee's innovation.
