Synthesis, characterization, and in vitro anticancer evaluation of 2,4 disulfonylsubstituted 5-aminothiazoles Pages 557-568 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Keywords: 4-Arylsulfonyl-1, 3-thiazoles, Design, Synthesis, Anticancer activity, COMPARE correlations

Abstract:
Novel 2,4-disulfonylsubstituted 5-aminothiazoles were synthesized and their anticancer activity was assessed at a high dose (10 μM) against NCI 60 cancer cell lines. Compounds 24 and 25 showed the antiproliferative activity with mean growth inhibition about 66.0%. Replacing 4-hydroxypiperidine 24 with the more hydrophilic N-methyl piperazine 25 increased the number of sensitive cell lines while replacing these hydrophilic groups with lipophilic ones abolished the anticancer activity. The COMPARE analysis showed that the tested compounds had a moderate positive correlation with alkylating agents (CCNU and methyl CCNU) and with a purine nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitor analog (L-cysteine). The results indicate that the above mechanisms of antitumor action of standard compounds are not the main ones for the tested compounds due to the lack of a high correlation. The results of this study allow us to consider compounds 24 and 25 as a basis for their further functionalization to obtain more active compounds.

The role of social media and AI in increasing willingness to pay and its implications on the quality of urban park design Pages 1107-1120 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Desivera Tri Rahayu, Salampak Salampak, I Nyoman Sudyana, Berkat Berkat, Noor Hamidah, Saputera Saputera, Bambang S. Lautt, Rinto Alexandro, Johanna Maria Rotinsulu, Jovan Sofyana

DOI: 10.5267/j.ijdns.2024.9.011

Keywords: Social media, AI, Willingness to pay, Design, City parks

Abstract:
Social media and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly playing an important role in the process of designing city parks by influencing people's willingness to pay. This research aims to explore how social media and AI can increase willingness to pay and its impact on the quality of urban park design in Palangkaraya City, Central Kalimantan. Method: This research uses a mixed approach with a combination of quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The survey was conducted on 200 respondents from Palangkaraya residents to measure the influ-ence of social media and AI on their willingness to pay. Social media data analysis was con-ducted using AI tools to identify popular garden design preferences. Data was collected from social media platforms as well as in-depth interviews with stakeholders. The research results show that there is a significant positive correlation between social media involvement and peo-ple's willingness to pay. AI data from social media analysis reveals the most popular garden de-sign elements, which then influences design decisions. The quality of park designs that inte-grate feedback from social media and AI recommendations receive higher ratings from the pub-lic. These findings indicate that social media and AI can significantly increase willingness to pay and the quality of urban park design. Active engagement of the public through social me-dia helps formulate designs that better suit their needs, while AI ensures designs that are more innovative and responsive to public preferences. This research emphasizes the importance of using digital tools to improve community engagement and urban planning outcomes.

Anthropomorphic mechanical design and Lyapunov-based control of a new shoulder rehabilitation system Pages 151-162 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mahdieh Babaiasl, Ahmad Ghanbari, SMRS Noorani

Keywords: Anthropomorphic Mechanical, Design, Disturbance rejection, Exoskeleton robots, Lyapunov-based controller, Nonlinear control, Robot-aided rehabilitation, Stroke, Tracking problem

Abstract:
Stroke is one of the main causes of disability. It affects millions of people worldwide. One symptom of stroke is disabled arm function. Restoration of arm function is necessary to resuming activities of daily living (ADL). Along with traditional rehabilitation techniques, robot-aided therapy has emerged recently. The control schemes of rehabilitation robots are designed for two reasons. First they are designed for passive rehabilitation in which the robot guides the patient & apos; s limb through a predefined path and second for active rehabilitation in which the patient initiates the movement and is partially assisted or resisted by the robotic device. This paper introduces a new robot for shoulder rehabilitation. The Shoulder Rehabilitation System (SRS) has three degrees of freedom (DOFs) for three rotational DOFs of the shoulder but additional translational DOFs of the shoulder are also allowed to avoid discomfort to the patient. A new open circular mechanism is proposed for the third joint that solves the known issues for rehabilitation robots such as long wiring and discomfort associated with closed mechanisms. Lyapunov-based controller with integral action is proposed to guide the robot through a predefined trajectory. Simulation results proved that the proposed controller can track the desired trajectory; reject constant bounded disturbance to the system and is robust due to its nonlinear nature. The proposed controller is designed to be used in passive rehabilitation.
