The influence of publicity, e-WOM, and destination personality on visit intention to Wakatobi national park Pages 1527-1540 PDF Download PDF

Authors: Usep Suhud, Mamoon Allan, Wong Chee Hoo, Muaz Azinuddin, Ergash Ibadullaev, Alisher Sherov, Samariddin Makhmudov, Tuktabek Rahkimov

doi 10.5267/j.ijdns.2026.2.008

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Consumer behaviour, eWOM sustainable tourism, Destination marketing, Wakatobi National Park

Abstract:
Although destination publicity is widely used in tourism marketing, there is a lack of studies specifically examining its role in national park tourism. Thus, this study looks into the effects of publicity and electronic word, of, mouth (e-WOM) on tourists' visit intention to Wakatobi National Park, an internationally recognized marine destination known for its commitment to sustainable tourism. Grounded in the stimulusโ€“organismโ€“response (S, O, R) framework, the proposed model includes five constructs: publicity, destination personality, e-WOM, destination preference, and visit intention. Responses from 208 potential tourists were gathered through an online survey and analysed through structural equation modelling. The findings indicate that publicity enhances destination personality significantly, which further enhances the intention to visit. E-WOM has a direct impact on destination preference and visit intention. Destination preference has no impact on visit intention, implying that the impact of affective evaluation may not be enough to trigger sustainable visits without the presence of cognitions and social validation. The findings emphasize the strategic application of non, commercial communication, particularly credibility, based publicity and peer, generated content, to generate symbolic, ethical, and desirable destination images. This work contributes to the literature on sustainable tourism by addressing how authenticity, based destination branding and community stories can contribute to the creation of environmentally friendly tourist conduct. The practical contributions indicate that the tourism authorities should spend on publicity and online interaction to co, construct destination personality as per the spirit of conservation.

Authors: Ida Zuniarti, Hari Gursida, Agus Setyo Pranowo

doi 10.5267/j.ijdns.2025.12.006

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Consumer Behaviour, Return Purchase Policy Leniency, Customer Reviews, Transaction Security, Consumer Trust, E-Commerce Purchase Decisions

Abstract:
This study explores consumer behavior in purchasing mobile phones through e-commerce platforms. It focuses on how lenient online return policies, customer reviews, and transaction security contribute to building consumer trust, which subsequently affects their decisions to make purchases online. Data were obtained from an online survey completed by 385 consumers aged 18 until 35 who reside in Jakarta Province and actively engage with e-commerce platforms. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), the study finds that lenient return policies, helpful customer reviews, and secure transactions all play an important role in boosting consumer trust. On the other hand, lenient return policies, positive customer reviews, and secure transactions also have a strong positive impact on consumersโ€™ decisions to purchase through e-commerce platforms. Consumer Trust has been proven to have a strong and positive influence on E-Commerce Purchase Decisions. In addition, Consumer Trust effectively mediates and amplifies the impact of return policy leniency, customer reviews, and transaction security on e-commerce purchase decisions. These findings highlight the importance of providing flexibility in return policies, displaying positive customer reviews, and ensuring advanced transaction security in building consumer trust and encouraging purchasing behavior on e-commerce platforms.

doi 10.5267/j.ijdns.2026.35

๐Ÿ”‘ Keywords: Purchase intention, Halal products, Islamic marketing, Consumer behaviour, Bibliometric analysis, VOSviewer, Dimensions AI

Abstract:
This study employs a bibliometric approach to examine the development of research on halal product purchase intention from 2022 to 2026, analyzing 271 open-access journal articles retrieved from the Dimensions AI database and selected through PRISMAS-guided screening, with findings revealing that the field primarily centers on the Theory of Planned Behaviour, halal awareness, certification, religiosity, trust, perceived value, and consumer behavior; beyond mapping these thematic areas, the research identifies leading authors, institutions, countries, journals, keywords, and emerging trends, offering researchers a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure and development of the field, while its originality lies in providing a systematic bibliometric evaluation that highlights both current hotspots and underexplored gaps, thereby serving as a valuable reference for future scholarly inquiry.
