Authors: Variyetmi Wira, Niki Lukviarman, Rida Rahim, Efa Yonnedi

DOI: 10.5267/j.uscm.2024.8.016

Keywords: Competitive advantages, Firm innovation, Firm value, Intellectual capital, Intangible asset, Managerial ability, Resource based-view

Abstract:
The development of Resources Based-View in 2021 states that the firm's value creation is influenced by unique resources. This research aims to explore the use of intangible resources in three main industrial sectors in Indonesia to create firm value. The research method begins with the mapping of resources that meet valuable, rare, imperfect imitability, and non-substitution, forming a research model. These internal resources are measured using the company's financial ratio. The research data is in the form of secondary data for the period 2012-2022 which is analyzed using the panel data regression method and robustness test. The results found that each industry has different resources to increase the firm value. Internal resources; Intangible assets, firm innovation and managerial ability can create firm value in the basic materials industry. Meanwhile, in the Consumer Noncyclicals industry, only managerial ability affects the firm's value. Meanwhile, intellectual capital is not able to create firm value in Indonesia. The research implies that physical resources are still the main factor in creating a competitive advantage to achieve sustainable corporate value in Indonesia. The theoretical contribution is that there are still other applications of the RBV concept to create firm value.

Abstract:
Knowledge has become one of the key strategic assets for the organizations to gain and main-tain competitive advantage. There are two main types of the knowledge, which can be found in organizations and individuals: tacit and explicit. Tacit knowledge is Omni present in indi-vidual’s head while explicit knowledge is a written and documented. The most valuable and remarkable human knowledge exists more implicitly. Sharing and managing this implicit knowledge is considered very difficult, so investigating the factors that may affect knowledge sharing has become a colorful area of research. The focus of this study is to examine the relationship between individual (individual attitude, organizational commitment, and knowledge self-efficacy) and tacit knowledge sharing. The study distributed 650 questionnaires among teaching staff in public higher educational institutes. Out of 650, only 320 questionnaires were returned. Hypotheses for direct relationships were tested using SEM. Results indicated that individual attitude and knowledge self-efficacy were substantially associated with tacit knowledge sharing, however, no relationship was found between organizational commitment and tacit knowledge sharing.

Keywords: Jordanian commercial organizations, Competitive advantages, Quality, Cost, Reliability, Responsiveness, Innovation, Cloud computing services

Abstract:
Using advanced technology in business has created hyper-competition among organizations to satisfy customers' needs. Using advanced technology aims to provide customers with quality products/services at suitable prices in the right place better than competitors. Therefore, the current study's purpose is to explore the influence of cloud computing services on Jordanian commercial organizations’ competitive advantages, organizations which use cloud computing services. The study uses quantitative, cause-effect, and cross-sectional methods and uses a convenience sampling approach to collect the data by questionnaire from 111 managers and/or owners of commercial organizations. The collected questionnaires are examined and inserted into SPSS. The instrument validity, normal distribution, and reliability are verified, then descriptive analysis is performed, the relationship between independent and dependent variables is tested, and finally multiple regressions are used to test the hypotheses. The findings indicate that commercial organizations are concerned about cloud computing services as well as competitive advantage sub-variables. The results also show that there was a significantly strong correlation between cloud computing services and competitive advantage. Moreover, cloud computing services influence the dimensions of competitive advantages (quality, cost, reliability, innovation, and responsiveness) of commercial organizations, where cloud computing services have the most significant influence on quality followed by cost and responsiveness, respectively. However, cloud computing services do not significantly influence innovation and reliability. Finally, the study recommends doing comparable research on other sectors, and industries as well as in other countries to test the results' generalizability.
