Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to analyze the increased performance improvement in the supply chain related to the energy and utilities sector of Jordan through cloud computing, also mediated by knowledge sharing. 150 respondents were analyzed. Research suggests that there was a strong positive relationship between cloud computing and supply chain performance. In addition, cloud computing had a strong and positive correlation with the practice of knowledge sharing. The result indicates that companies with a culture of knowledge sharing among employees were more likely to incorporate the use of cloud computing. The study also indicates that cloud computing adoption had enhanced supply chain performance in the utility and energy sector within Jordan. Therefore, the study also finds that there was a strong and positive relationship between knowledge sharing and well overall performance of supply chain activities. This points to the role that knowledge-sharing practices play in improving the performance of the supply chain within Jordanian utilities and energy sectors. Furthermore, the findings of the mediation study provide strong evidence in support of our hypothesis that knowledge sharing plays a major role as a mediator relating to the relationship between cloud computing adoption and supply chain performance. The observed mediation effect suggests that the positive impact of cloud computing implementation on supply chain performance can be attributed to some extent to its facilitating knowledge exchange practices. However, this research improves the understanding of relationships among cloud computing adoption implementations and information structure flow as well as supply chain performance within Utilities These results emphasize the importance of cloud technologies as information drivers that would lead to enhanced performance in terms of supply chain operations. These are insights that can be used by organizations and businesses aiming at improving their competitiveness and efficiency levels in these sectors.

🔑 Keywords: Low-speed impact, Aluminum alloy Al1050, Energy absorption, Impact resistance

Abstract:
Low-speed impacts are common occurrences in industries such as aviation, automotive, and marine. Yet they have received relatively little attention compared to medium and high-speed impacts. Understanding the behavior of materials under low-speed impact is crucial for ensuring impact resistance and damage absorption in engineering structures. This study presents an experimental investigation into the low-speed impact behavior of 1050 aluminum alloy plates. Impact tests were conducted using a CEAST 9340 drop-weight testing machine, varying impact energies and temperatures to analyze their effects on the material. The findings highlight the importance of understanding the dynamic response of engineering materials under low-speed impact loading conditions. The insight gained from this study informs the design and optimization of aerospace and automotive structures to enhance their impact resistance and structural integrity. The results of the study indicate an inverse relation between the temperature of the impacted specimen and the maximum contact force.

Abstract:
There is a universal consensus that improving employee performance is a cornerstone for any organization’s path to success and prosperity. However, when it comes to identifying what factors trigger such an improvement, there is anything but consensus among researchers. In this paper, a sample of government employees in the Sultanate of Oman is studied to discern the factors that affect employee performance. A factor analysis is applied to validate the constructs used to measure the various variables. A correlation analysis and a corresponding multiple linear regression is carried out to test the hypotheses. In contrast to many research findings, the results indicate that the only significant factor is technology; whereas leadership and organizational structure are neutral. The results are analyzed and discussed in view of the socio-cultural context of the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC region.

Abstract:
This study identifies the role of religiosity in the willingness to pay for halal transportation among Muslim consumers in Malaysia by applying the ABC theory. Applying a purposive sampling method, data were gathered from questionnaires distributed to Muslim consumers at malls in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. From 250 Muslims who were approached, 200 respondents agreed to answer the questionnaire. SMART-PLS 3.3.2. was used to analyse the data for this study using a Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach. Out of six direct hypotheses tested, five hypotheses were found supported. From four hypotheses on mediation, only one was found as unsupported. Religiosity was found to have a moderation effect between knowledge and the WTP for halal transportation. The findings provide useful information on the WTP for halal transportation. Related parties such as governments, halal transport service providers and customers can use these findings to plan further actions in order to enhance the WTP for halal transportation. The study reveals the capability of the ABC theory to identify the factors of the WTP for halal transportation among Muslim consumers in Malaysia. The findings also show the moderation effects of religiosity on the WTP for halal transportation. The study also incorporates awareness as a mediator and as a sequential mediator within the model. The findings also enrich the literature on the WTP in halal studies.

Social isolation and psychological wellbeing: lessons from Covid-19 Pages 609-618 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Hussein-Elhakim Al Issa, Eman Mahir Jaleel

doi 10.5267/j.msl.2020.9.006 Crossmark

🔑 Keywords: Social isolation, Psychological wellbeing, Emotional intelligence, Pandemic, Gender

Abstract:
This study explores the effect of social isolation (SI) on the psychological wellbeing (PWB) of employees due to the imposed distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. Drawing on individual psychological resources to improve wellbeing, researchers examine emotional intelligence (EI) as a possible mediator that reduces the effect of social isolation. In this quantitative study, questionnaires were administered to measure SI, EI, and PWB among academic and non-academic staff in Iraqi public universities during the height of the Covid-19 outbreak. The results suggest that EI and SI were strong predictors of PWB. While SI was negatively and significantly related to EI, the presence of emotional intelligence as a mediator reduced the negative effect of isolation on wellbeing. Gender was not found to moderate the mediating effect of EI on the SI-PWB association. These findings support the validity of incorporating EI interventions during pandemic outbreaks that produce distinct effects on the isolation and thus potentially result in improving the wellbeing of employees. Although employees high on EI are viewed less socially isolated and high on wellbeing within literature there is a relative dearth of supporting research that has not examined these inter-relationships during a genuinely imposed lockdown such as the one during the Covid-19 pandemic which provided standardization as to the social isolation context understudied. Another theoretical gap included the psychometric revision of the social isolation scale.
