An ISM approach for analyzing the factors in technology transfer Pages 335-348 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mohammad Mahdavi Mazdeh, Mohammad Ali Shafia, Reza Bandarian, Abdolmajid Kahrizi

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2015.4.004

Keywords: Inter-Organizational Knowledge Transfer, Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM), Research and Technology Organizations, Technology Transfer

Abstract:
Technology transfer, from research and technology organizations (RTOs) toward local industries, is considered as one of important and significant strategies for countries & apos; industrial development. In addition to recover the enormous costs of research and development for RTOs, successful technology transfer from RTOs toward local firms forms technological foundations and develops the ability to enhance the competitiveness of firms. Better understanding of factors influencing process of technology transfer helps RTOs and local firms prioritize and manage their resources in an effective and efficient way to maximize the success of technology transfer. This paper aims to identify important effective factors in technology transfer from Iranian RTOs and provides a comprehensive model, which indicate the interactions of these factors. In this regard, first, research background is reviewed and Cummings and Teng’s model (2003) [Cummings, J. L., & Teng, B.-S. (2003). Transferring R & D knowledge: The key factors affecting knowledge transfer success. Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, 20(1-2), 39-68.] was selected as the basic model in this study and it was modified through suggesting new factors identified from literature of inter-organizational knowledge and technology transfer and finally a Delphi method was applied for validation of modified model. Then, research conducted used Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) to evaluate the relationship between the factors of final proposed model. Results indicate that there were twelve factors influencing on technology transfer process from Iranian RTOs to local firms and also the intensity of absorption capability in transferee could influence on the intensity of desorption capability in transferor.

The impact of the national standardization system on ranking the supply chain stages improvement Pages 237-244 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Mohammad Ali Shafia, Sohrab Abdollahzadeh, Ebrahim Teimoury

Keywords: Fuzzy AHP, National Standardization System, Performance Measurement, Supply Chain Management

Abstract:
The objective of this study is to measure the performance improvement of supply chain (SC) stages through implementing the national standardization system (NSS) in an innovative way. There are many studies on the positive effects of standardization system on supply chain performance (SCP), but very few studies have measured and prioritized the impact of this system on SCP. This paper introduces a new approach to the performance improvement of each stage of SC through implementing the NSS. First, we use fuzzy analytical hierarchical process method to measure the relative importance of each stage and determine the characteristics of SC. Then, the amount of SC stages improvement after implementing the NSS is determined. Finally, using a combination of results, the stages of SC are ranked according to the effectiveness of NSS implementation. In order to validate the proposed approach, the case analysis of Iran NSS is carried out on broiler SC. The stages of SC are ranked according to the performance improvement through implementing standardization system, subsequently. This approach can be generalized to other standardization systems and SCs.

Utilizing TOPSIS intensified with adjustment similarity factor to determine price of technology Pages 1385-1396 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Arnoosh Shakeri, Mohammad Ali Shafia, Seyed Mohammad Seyedhosseini

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2012.02.080

Keywords: TOPSIS, Factor Analysis, Technology Pricing, Adjustment Factor

Abstract:
Technology transfer has been a very frequent activity in the industrial world nowadays. Technology valuation, and in particular technology pricing, has played a considerable role in these transactions, in spite of a huge amount of limitations in the pricing methodologies applied. Making a sound, traceable and reliable means for applying the price evaluation procedure, seems as a technological requirement to be traced for. The objective of delivering this paper is to introduce a new numerical technology pricing method to provide the two transacting parties a unique compromised price. A three-dimensional model for technology pricing is proposed and The TOPSPS algorithm has been utilized to select the most similar technologies to the intended one and the constructed scoring system is applied to calculate the final technology price accordingly.

Examining different factors in effectiveness of advertisement Pages 811-818 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Seyed Gholamreza Jalali Naini, Mohammad Ali Shafia, Negar Nazari

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2011.12.010

Keywords: Advertising, Informativeness, Marketing planning

Abstract:
This paper aims to study the effects of different factors on advertising by examining the simultaneous effects of exposure to the advertisement, type of the media, creativity in advertisements and being informative. Using data collected from one of the chain supermarkets of Tehran called “Shahrvand”; the analysis focuses on the effectiveness of four independent variables and impact of customers’ needs on encouraging consumers to purchase. The results elucidate a relationship among these four variables with encouraging people to purchase. Using creativity in advertisements, however dominate the effects on this issue. The marketing and advertisement environment are dynamic and the paper concentrates only on some of the more effective factors. Producers might be more successful in choosing the best way to promote their goods and services by following the proposed model. This paper puts four effective factors together and investigates their impact on advertisement, which was not done by any other previous papers. Unlike other studies, this paper examines the role of customer needs together with four other elements on advertisement effectiveness.
