Analytical evaluation of big data applications in E-commerce: A mixed method approach Pages 457-476 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Ali Mohammadi, Pouya Ahadi, Ali Fozooni, Amirhossein Farzadi, Khatereh Ahadi

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2022.11.003

Keywords: Big Data Analytics, Big data applications, E-commerce, BWM, Fuzzy Topsis, MCDM

Abstract:
E-commerce is one of the industries most affected by big data, from collection to analytics in the highly competitive market. Previous research on big data analytics in E-commerce focused only on particular applications, and there is still a gap in presenting a framework to evaluate big data applications from a challenges-values point of view. This study employs a three-phase methodology to evaluate big data applications in E-commerce with respect to big data challenges and values using a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making technique that combines BWM and fuzzy TOPSIS. The results showed process challenge and the strategic value obtained the highest weight for challenges and values criteria. Financial fraud detection is relatively the most challenging, and online review analytics is the most valuable application of big data in E-commerce among identified applications. Evaluating big data applications based on cost and benefit criteria is practical for E-commerce managers and experts to make decisions on implementation priorities to overcome the challenges and make the most of values. Moreover, the proposed approach is not only limited to big data analytics in E-commerce and can also be applied in other industries to evaluate emerging technology applications.

The combination of system dynamics and game theory in analyzing oligopoly markets Pages 265-274 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Ali Mohammadi, Alinaghi Mosleh Shirazi, Ahmad Talebnezhad, Ahmad Sadraee Javaheri, Ehsan Javanmardi

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2016.2.003

Keywords: Game theory, Oligopoly market, Systems dynamic

Abstract:
In this paper, we present a hybrid method of game theory and dynamic systems to study the behavior of firms in an oligopoly market. The aim of this study is to build a model for an oligopoly game on the basis of feedback loops and system dynamics approach and to solve the resulted problems under some special conditions where traditional game theory methods are unable to handle. The method includes a combination of qualitative methods including interviews with industry experts to prepare the model and quantitative methods of system dynamics, simulation methodologies and game theory. The results indicate that competitive behavior and the important parameters such as volume of demand, interest rates and price fluctuation will be stabilized after a transition period.

Prioritizing the performance of civil development projects in governmental administration agencies, using gray relational analysis (GRA) and TOPSIS approach Pages 487-498 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Ali Mohammadi, Payam Shojaei, Bahareh Kaydan, Zahra Akbari

DOI: 10.5267/j.dsl.2016.5.003

Keywords: Performance evaluation, Civil Development Projects, TOPSIS, Gray Relational Analysis (GRA)

Abstract:
A key indicator to evaluate the success of an organization is the degree of meeting specific civil project goals based on a predetermined schedule. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to evaluate the performance of governmental administration agencies based on realization of civil project goals. In this paper, the information published by the President Deputy of Strategic Planning and Control, that publishes an annual report of evaluation indicators for national civil development projects, are used to evaluate and prioritize the major and non-major governmental agencies. Also, the Gray Relational Analysis (GRA) and the TOPSIS method are employed to analyze the data. The results indicate that using the GRA method, Supreme Council of Seminary and using the TOPSIS method, The Ministry of Labor and Social Affaires have gained the highest ranking.

An investigation on important factors influencing on forecasted earnings adjustment: Evidence from Tehran Stock Exchange Pages 53-56 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Fatemeh Babakhani, Behzad Ghorbani, Ali Mohammadi

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2013.11.035

Keywords: Book value, Earning forecast, Market value, Size, Tehran Stock Exchange

Abstract:
This paper presents an empirical investigation to detect important factors influencing earning adjustment on firms selected on Tehran Stock Exchange over the period 2006-2011. There are four independent variables associated with the proposed study of this paper including Proportion of shares owned by institutional investors, Return on assets, Profit change and Market value to book value. In addition, Investment restructuring is considered as control variable. The results of the implementation of regression analysis indicate that there was a reverse relationship between earning forecasted adjustment and two independent variables including size of firm as well as the ratio of market value to book value. However, Net profit has a direct and positive relationship with earning forecast adjustment.

Qualitative design and quantitative analysis of sustainable business models using value triangular business model canvas and system dynamics Pages 243-266 Right click to download the paper Download PDF

Authors: Farshad Alamdar Youli, Ali Mohammadi, Moslem Alimohammadlou, Abbas Abbasi

DOI: 10.5267/j.jfs.2023.3.002

Keywords: Sustainable business models, System dynamics, Value triangular business model canvas, Balanced values

Abstract:
To date, the use of three key aspects together has received little attention in studies on sustainable business models (SBMs). These aspects are a) the qualitative design of SBMs based on a valid sustainable business model canvas presented so far, b) the dynamic quantitative analysis of the designed SBMs, and c) the identification of appropriate business policies for different future scenarios, not just for one. Therefore, in this research, an attempt is made to study all three aspects by proposing a new practical framework based on one of the latest SBMs, called value triangular business model canvas (VTBMC), and system dynamics. To evaluate the proposed framework in the real world, it was implemented as a case study in Farassan Industrial and Manufacturing Company, one of the companies producing composite pipes. The results showed that the proposed framework helps business owners and managers identify the proper policies to achieve their key business objectives in the future under critical uncertainties and also create appropriate balanced values for a wide range of stakeholders, rather than just for shareholders.
