Authors: Ali Ghasemi, Amir Hassan Eghbal, Hossein Ali Toti

DOI: 10.5267/j.msl.2015.3.005

Keywords: Market performance, Regional market, Supply chain performance

Abstract:
This paper investigates the role of exports in the regional markets on the performance of supply chain. The study first determines critical variables affecting exports for entering into the regional markets and then measures the effects of these variables on the effectiveness of supply chain performance. The study uses two questionnaires, one for measuring the effects of various factors on export development and the other for measuring supply chain performance in Likert scale. Cronbach alpha for the mentioned questionnaires were calculated as 0.84 and 0.78, respectively. The population of the survey includes all small and medium enterprises active in city of Tehran, Iran and the study selects a sample of 250 people as a sample size. Using factor analysis, the study has determined seven factors including product development, government support, strategic orientation, customer satisfaction, competitive pressures, organizational capability and distribution strategies for entry into regional markets. In addition, the implementation of structural equation modeling has disclosed that product development and distribution strategies maintained the highest impact on export activities.

Authors: Ali Ghasemi, Abohamid Hajipour Shooshtari

Keywords: Factor analysis, Market entrance, Regional market

Abstract:
This paper presents an empirical investigation to study the effects of different factors for regional market entrance. The population of this survey includes all producers who are involved in export of industrial goods in city of Tehran, Iran. The study designs a questionnaire in Likert scale and distributes it among some randomly selected experts who were involved in production and export of different products. Cronbach alpha was calculated as 0.856, which is well above the minimum acceptable level. Using principal component analysis, the study has detected seven factors including product development, government support, strategic orientation, customer satisfaction, competitive pressure, organizational capabilities and distribution strategies influencing on product development. In addition, the implementation of structural equation modeling has determined that product development, government support, strategic orientation and competitive pressure maintained the highest effects on product development.

Abstract:
This paper presents an empirical investigation to study the role of entry into regional markets in fulfilling brand promise. The study designs two questionnaires, one for measuring brand promise and the other for measuring export capabilities, in Likert scale and distributes it among 250 randomly selected producers who were involved in production and development of various products in city of Esfahan, Iran. Cronbach alphas were calculated for brand promise and export capabilities as 0.856 and 0.812, respectively. Using structural equation modeling, the study has detected seven factors including product development, public advocacy, strategic orientation, customer satisfaction, competitive pressures, organizational capabilities and distribution strategies.
