Abstract: The paper aims to develop a model for measuring economic system management efficiency of the Black Sea region of Ukraine through the context of sustainable development. The model includes the rates of social and economic efficiency, productivity, and performance. The proposed approach calculates the region’s economic system management efficiency. The respective evaluation criteria are systematized: economic and social efficiency of the region’s economic activity, productivity of the use of resources, and performance of the management system. The system of evaluation indicators by each criterion and mathematical apparatus to calculate them are suggested. The paper suggests methodical approaches to evaluate the economic system management efficiency in the region under transformation. They help determine the current level against similar indicators achieved within the country and the tendencies influenced by regional factors, form the “economic system management profile”, and identify the strengths and bottlenecks.

Abstract: Due to increase in global pressures and interest in environmental issues over the past two decades, Environmental Management Accounting (EMA) has been emerged as a new technique in accounting field in order to provide information based on environmental issues for various parties. The environmental accounting information disclosure benefits the decision makers for managing and improving environmental performance. This study aims to assess factors affecting the Environmental Management Accounting Implementation and affecting the Quality of Environmental Information for making decisions of Fishery Processing Enterprises (FPEs) in Vietnam. There are 3 groups of factors including Company’s nature and perspective; Government and Stakeholders’ Pressure; Methods, tools and regulations for EMA which are examined to learn about their impacts on EMA Implementation and Environmental Data Quality for decision making of FPEs in Vietnam. The result showed that the 3 factors had a causal relationship with EMA Implementation. At the same time, EMA Implementation has the positive impact on Environmental Data quality for decision making of the FPEs in Vietnam. Based on the results of survey and data processing, the authors propose FPEs in Vietnam to increase the effectiveness of methods and tools for EMA, be more responsible for government and stakeholders’ pressure, promote managers’ perspectives related to environmental issues, and enhance EMA implementation, from which to increase the quality of environmental data for decision making.

Abstract: Many empirical studies have been conducted so far on economic growth in the world. In these studies, the effect of various elements on the economic growth, such as public expenditure, inflation, labor, private investment, etc., has been examined. In this study, the effect of governance on the economic growth in 43 Asian countries is considered during the period from 2004 to 2016. Using the Bayesian multilevel generalized linear model, it is estimated that governance has a positive impact on economic growth with a probability of more than 80%. Based on this, policy implications are provided for improving the governance quality to promote economic growth.

Abstract: The paper uses the gravity model and panel data to examine the determinants of Vietnam's export to the EU market during the 2007-2017 period. The article uses the Hausman-Taylor estimator for the optimal combination of Fixed-Effects (FE) and Random-Effects (RE) methods. The estimation results indicate that the determinants of Vietnam's export to the EU market include: aggregate population (+2,512); aggregate GDP per capita (+1,256); Vietnam's index of infrastructure (+0,824) and aggregate trade openness (+0,377). Based on these results, the paper suggests policies to boost Vietnam's export to the EU.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effect of black tiger shrimp price and other factors on the shrimp area in the Mekong Delta using the supply response function based on the Nerlovian partial adjustment model. Using quarterly panel data collected from four provinces (Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, and Kien Giang) for the period of 2014 to 2017, the estimates in the supply response are obtained from Fixed-Effects (FE) method. Results indicate that the adaptive expectation hypothesis to the simple Cobweb model is likely to best fit the data. The estimates of the supply response model show that information used for expected price formation quickly responded in making a decision of black tiger shrimp production. In both the short run and long run, the expected price has a significant effect in directing black tiger shrimp farmers to formulate the supply response decision. The acreage response elasticity is more elastic.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to propose a model to test the factors influencing on spread in Malaysia securitization market. An extension Vink’s model is tested and revalidated to determine and measure the factors influencing spread of securitized firms in Malaysia. The study consists firm characteristics and macroeconomic factors. Firm characteristic factors based on Vink’s model, such as Liquidity and Leverage. In addition, economic and market condition factors such as Interest and Inflation also maintain high impact to spread securitized firms. Ordinary Least square method, Panel data and multiple regression analysis are applied for the study period 2004-2012. The result shows two determinants influence or contribute to the primary market spread and are statistically significant in developing the securitization in Malaysia. It can be concluded that inflation and interest rate significantly contribute to the determinant of primary market spread. From four hypotheses, two hypotheses support that the determinants had a relationship with primary market spread. The result may become a model and benchmark for other ASEAN countries to be used as Malaysia resilient during subprime mortgage in 2008.

Abstract: This study considers 77 Vietnam industry listed enterprises from 2012 to 2018 as research samples to establish indicators for evaluating the relationship between Enterprise risk management (ERM) and firm value among industry enterprises in Vietnam. International economic integration not only opens up many business opportunities for businesses but also brings many challenges for Vietnamese businesses. One of the challenges is that the financial risks to businesses are increasingly diverse in type and sophistication. Our results show that the implementation of ERM in the previous year has strong positive relationship with firm value. These findings support the recent pressure on businesses to adopt more comprehensive risk management systems.

Abstract: Based on longitudinal data from biennial surveys of small- and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam conducted from 2007 to 2013, we find supports to the self-selection and learning-by-exporting hypotheses. We find that the SMEs having higher sunk costs and capital size are more likely to become exporters. Applying the propensity score matching method in combination with the Difference-in-Difference estimation, the study finds that export has raised SMEs’ productivity measured by either TFP or labor productivity, sales revenue, and value added of the SMEs. Furthermore, the gains from learning-by-exporting and specializing in core-competence products were stronger in the early years of entry into the export markets. These findings suggest policies to promote export of SMEs in an appropriate timing.

Abstract: The coconut palm or scientific name Cocos nucifera L. has been called as ‘Tree of Life’ because of its multiuse. Malaysia remains as one of top ten coconut producing countries in the world and coconut is one of important industrial crops after oil palm, paddy and rubber. As coconut plays a significant source of income and employment for majority of smallholders, this study has therefore been undertaken in order to recommend strategies for policy decisions and formulate suitable schemes and programs to ameliorate socio-economic conditions of the coconut smallholders. The present study has brought into focus and issues relating to socio economic status, profitability and production of coconut in Batu Pahat district, Johor. A sample of 152 farmers was selected through a random sampling technique. In addition, the study uses Cost Benefit Analysis and multiple regression model to estimate the factors affecting the profitability of coconut production in Malaysia. The results reveal that the profitability was influenced by different factors including land, labor, fungicides, experience, education and extension visit. While the result for cost benefit analysis showed that in the study area, a cultivation of coconut was a profitable enterprise as indicated by benefit cost ratio, ranging from 5.0- 8.4. On that basis, the article proposes some recommendations to improve profitability of coconut smallholders in the future.

Abstract: Trading is the most sensitive sector of the economy, directly and indirectly responding to innovative challenges. High competition, political risks and planetary scales have made it susceptible to any globalization fluctuations. Effective management is seen as the most important opportunity to gain competitive advantage. This explains the increased interest in the system of indicators of management system evaluation in the business processes in the supply chains. The aim of this paper is to develop and substantiate analytical approaches to the study of the status of transnational trade economic relationships with the identification of significant impact indicators and vulnerability indicators. The globalization aspect of the existing trend of world trade (export-import) among differentiated groups of countries is justified, distinguishing the forecast component. A two-tier model of business process “reliability management” has been constructed, taking into account the results of linear regression models based on the profiles of Australia and New Zealand.

Abstract: This paper examines the labor productivity gap between exporting and non-exporting Vietnamese manufacturing firms in industrialization during the period from 2010 to 2016 using enterprise-level panel data drawn from Vietnamese Annual Enterprise Censuses. Results show that the labor productivity of the manufacturing sectors increased during the study period. It can be concluded that the firms' productivity contributed to the current industrialization in Vietnam. On top of that, some manufacturing sectors with increasing labor productivity in the study period, namely: Fabricated metal products (code 25), Basic metals (code 24), Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (code 29), Computer, electronic and optical products (code 26), Leather and related products (code 15), Machinery and equipment not yet classified (code 28), Furniture (code 31), Electrical equipment (code 27), Other non-metallic mineral products (code 23), Other transport equipment (code 30), Wearing apparel (code 14), and Food products (code 10). Vietnam’s government policy might play a crucial role in stimulating the current industrialization by targeting selective manufacturing sectors. Decomposing labor productivity gap between export and non-exporting firms, the results show that labor productivity in the former is about 57.5 percent lower than in the latter. By using Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method, several firm-level variables are found to contribute significantly to the productivity gap via the endowment effect and the structural effect. Overall, the endowment effect surpasses the structural effect in the sample period. Among the factor contributions, capital stock plays the most important role. Empirical studies about the impact of the related policy on the manufacturing industries will be fruitful research agenda.

Abstract: Since 2001, the International Accounting Standards Board has issued a set of accounting principles with the name International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Along with the adoption of IFRS in many countries around the world, Vietnam is preparing a roadmap for the implementation of IFRS by 2022. This study was conducted by surveying 119 directors and corporate accountants for the reasons: (1) to collect their opinions about the roadmap and the scope of IFRS implementation; (2) to investigate the benefits to companies, investors, policy makers and government agencies; and (3) to assess the challenges of IFRS implementation. The results show that IFRS implementation increases the comparability and quality of financial information, reduces investment risks, increases market efficiency and attracts foreign direct investment. However, organizations face many difficulties to adopt IFRS as cost, human resources, legal and market issues. Analysis and comparison with the Sample Test show that there is no difference in assessing benefits and challenges by qualifications, gender, position, region nor firm size. ANOVA analysis showed that there is a difference in the benefits for policy makers by age, and for investors by type of business. This study also suggests implications in policies for the implementation of IFRS in Vietnam.

Abstract: This research is conducted to investigate the impact of income diversification on bank liquidity creation and the financial performance of Vietnamese commercial banks from 2007 to 2017. Data were collected from 21 Vietnamese commercial banks. Panel OLS with fixed effects and GMM estimations were employed to process data. The results show that diversification had a negative impact on both bank liquidity creation and bank profitability, and thus support the view that Vietnamese commercial banks should remain focusing on their traditional lines of business rather than diversifying towards nontraditional activities since this may lead to both a lower level of liquidity creation and profitability. The findings of this study could draw broad inferences for researchers, policy makers, and bank managers towards more focusing strategies to ensure the health of the banking system.

Abstract: In this article, the research team systematized the theoretical basis of the monetary transmission mechanism and the impact of interest rate channel in monetary transmission mechanism by Mishkin's approach and used the vector error correction model (VECM) to test the impact of interest rate channel in the monetary transmission mechanism in Vietnam in the period 2005 – 2019. There were 8 endogenous variables included in the VECM model; namely Consumer price index (CPI); Gross domestic product (GDP) at constant 2010 prices (GDPR); Money supply (M2); Refinancing interest rate (ISBV); Average lending interest rate in VND (ILR); Bilateral real exchange rate (ER); Credit to the economy (CRE); VN-Index (VN-INDEX); and, 2 exogenous variables: world consumer price index (PW) and US Federal Reserve interest rate (IFED). The results have shown that: money supply had a clearer effect on average lending interest rate than refinancing rate; Interest rate channel was an important channel to transfer the impact of monetary policy on inflation; Exchange rate and interest rates channel influenced economic growth in Vietnam more strongly than credit and financial asset prices channel did. Besides, the model results also confirm that in Vietnam, inflation in the past played an important role in determining current inflation.

Abstract: This study examines the effect of the organizational change on company performance which is mediated by changes in management accounting practices. High environmental uncertainty requires company management to make organizational changes and changes in management accounting practices to achieve performance. The study uses a survey method with a total of 1945 respondents as managers of middle to upper manufacturing companies in 389 manufacturing companies in Indonesia. Data analysis techniques use partial least square, with more accommodating considerations for analyzing complex models with various indicators that are reflective and formative. The results of the study indicate that organizational change had a positive effect on changes in management accounting practices. Changes in accounting practices have positive effects on corporate performance, and changes in management accounting practices are able to mediate environmental changes in performance. Meanwhile, organizational change does not affect the company's performance.

Abstract: Vietnam is facing a lot of social problems such as excessive resources exploitation, social imbalance, threatened natural environment, etc. The majority of enterprises in Vietnam care about profits and they are blamed for harmful effects on the environment and society. Social responsibility accounting is applied as a tool which evaluates efforts to protect the environment and ensure the social stability of the businesses. Therefore, social responsibility accounting is essential to help administrators propose business strategies combining with environment conservation most appropriately. This research focuses on four factors affecting the application of the social responsibility accounting in Vietnamese enterprises.
